I ordered these boots for my husband who specifically asked for them. On the advice from the size chart on the online form, I ordered a 10 Wide EE. When these boots arrived, they were WAY TOO BIG for my husband who normally wears a 9 wide shoe. I called L.L. Bean to find out how to return/exchange the boots, and to get advice on what size to get this time. The representative was wonderful and told me to order a 9 Wide EE, that this would surely fit his feet. He and I were both disappointed when the new boots arrived and they didn't fit either. They were too big again! By this point, he was pretty disgusted so we just returned the boots and didn't order any others. if we ever see them in a store, he will try them on and hope to find a size to fit him!

Bought a new pair of the 8 inch boots. Decided to try a moccasin pair to go along. Boots fit perfect. Moccasins (same size) literally fell off my feet.

In shoes I normally wear a 10 1/2 W, I initially ordered a size 10 and it was way to large. I returned them in exchange for a size 9, these were also too large. I returned these also paying a shipping return charge of $6.50 for each. Rather than keep doing this or trying a Boys size 3 I am stopping. I wish there was a store I could visit to try these on, but alas there isn't.

There are no half sizes. This is a problem. Even when you size down one whole size, it still feels too big. I normally wear an 8 1/2 or 9 shoe (42 cm). The size 9 was way too big, and the size 8 still too large. Even trying to make it fit with a sheepskin insert leaves the 9 still too big and the 8 too small.

I wear normal size 11. Following the instructions provided I ordered size 10. The doggone things are still too big. Size 9 would have been better. Gonna have to replace the leather laces with boot laces to be able to cinch the laces down tight enough to be comfortable. Holy frijole, L.L. Bean, why can't you size these things normally instead of for thick socks?

I have worn a size 10 my entire life. The 10 arrived way too big so I returned for a 9. Still too large, so currently awaiting an 8. Entire transaction is coming up on four weeks time. Not a great experience, so far. The description should note this size issue.

The way these boots are marketed is a mystery to me. Asking customers to order a smaller size than normal is not a sales philosophy that's easy to understand. I get the idea that many people who buy these boots wear thicker socks with them, but... why not market them in their ACTUAL size and remind potential customers to order a size larger if they wear thick socks? I wear a size 11 men's shoe. So, I played along and ordered size 10. The boots were still much too large. I called Customer Service and was informed that a 9 might be too small and the boots didn't come in half-sizes. So, I sent them back for credit. For something that is one of a company's 'signature products' none of this made any sense.

I love the look of these LL Bean shoes, but they are uncomfortable to wear due to the height of the heel and the fact that my foot slips at the heel because they don't fit there well. More than that, the first time I walked on ice I discovered that they have no traction and are very slippery. I find that with the height of the heel, I am at such a strange angle that I end up with a backache after wearing them for about an hour.

Way too big. I ordered a full 1.5 size smaller than my normal size based on the website's recommendation, and these were still HUGE. Plus when I tried to tighten the laces, I could see a glued seam pulling apart. Really wanted to love these, but I can't.

I wear an eleven medium and have for years but this size with your company was way too big, exchanged for 10 and still too big. Could not find a proper fit.
The exchange and credit was a good experience.

I've had these for about a month now and they are still not comfortable to wear. My normal size is 10.5, so I ordered a 9 as suggested. This did deliver a shoe with the correct length but the rest of the fit feels too small - like I'm squeezing in a size too small. On the left, below my ankle bone, the shoe rubs and is now painful to wear. I also couldn't believe the crazy way they came laced and tried a few other methods but decided the first was probably the better. I've never seen any shoe laced like this and may modify it with additional holes so they are easier to adjust. I still have an ancient pair of Bean rubber moc slip-on clogs - no laces (they no longer offer this style for men) and I was hoping to get something close to them for the comfort and lasting performance. These have fallen way short by comparison. They seem very stiff, pull my socks down in back, and although I've walked in the woods with them, I'm not sure they will ever loosen up to be comfortable. I haven't had a pair of new shoes fit so badly since I was a kid. They should probably go back but I really want them to work.

If I am not wearing a suit I am wearing LL Bean so this is an unusual rating from me.
Got the new shoes and then figured out the sizing. I would have been fine with the sizing hunt but then I looked inside and saw no real lining like in the shoes I was replacing. The lining had made the shoes warm. Also the tongue of the shoe that had been thicker and lined was now on the new shoe just a piece of very thin leather. You lost the support the tongue provided that prevented your heal from slipping out. The originals lasted a long time though. 22 years.

These shoes are well made and I did order the correct size, but the design itself is bad. As soon as I started walking in them, my feet came out of the shoes! There's just no way to secure them to your feet. I will exchange them for the gumshoe style, and will have to pay $6.50 to ship these back. I can't recommend this style.

I ordered 3 pairs, sequentially, on line and none of them fit. I am a size 10 1/2- 11 and the best fit was a men's 8 !! With one of the pairs, the right fit loose while the left fit tight. Where's the quality control on the sizing of these??!! The return shipping gets expensive! I finally gave up and will have to stop by the LL Bean store next time I'm in the area...

I wanted these to be able to quickly slip on to go out in the yard in wet weather. I wear a 7.5, and the site says to order 1.5 sizes down, but they do not make a men's 6. The 7 is too large; moreover, the shoes are very stiff and almost impossible to walk in. Returning them, not going to bother with other LL Bean products.

I purchased my first 10 inch LL Bean Rubber boots in 1975 and haven't been without at least one pair since. I love them! I thought these Rubber Mocs would be a convenient option for wet days in the yard or camp, but they are poorly designed, in my opinion, because of the lack of a good method to snug them using the single leather lace. Despite trying two different sizes, it was impossible to keep my heel from lifting out of the mocs when walking regardless of what type sock I tried. They look great, but comfort was lacking.
The only reason I give them even two stars is that the construction quality was excellent despite the poor design.

Nice looking shoe and I'm sure they keep water out nicely, but for a first-time buyer sizing is a major issue. Since I don't have an LL Bean store nearby, I followed the website advice on sizing and ordered a 9 medium (I wear these shoes with athletic socks - medium weight). This pair was way too big, so after speaking with customer service I paid the $6.50 return shipping charge and ordered a size 8 medium. This pair was slightly large in the heel yet had minimal room (less than a half thumb width) at the toe, and the toe box was ever so slightly snug. They are simply not very comfortable. I am reluctant to fork out another $6.50 in shipping in the hopes that a size 8 wide will be better. Wish LL Bean could size these consistently with a normal shoe - if folks want to wear them with an ultra-thick thermal sock they can size up, rather than the other way around! All in all, I'm very disappointed!

I ordered my size and the size was too big. Returned for a full size smaller and the shoe was still too big. Ended up keeping the shoes but not sure I will ever wear them.

Sizes are so big my 8.5 wide foot was to small for the smallest size, (7). Could not keep the boot on with a heavy sock. Very disappointed as it took two tries to find out there is no size to fit me.

These shoes run at least 2 sizes too large. I would expect better sizing from LL Bean.

My husband normally wears a size 10-1/2. We tried a size 11 first - too big - so then ordered a size 10 and that also was too big! Easy return but very disappointed in the fit.

The men's rubber Mocs are very poorly designed in the tongue area. The tongue does not fit under the sides of the Mocs when the leather laces are tied, causing the tongue and to bunch up and wrinkle. I'm usually very satisfied with LLBean products but these rubber Mocs ere a huge disappointment.

Seems returns are NOT credited but kept by Bean for future purchases. Bad policy that endangers my 65 year relationship with Bean. Alas.
