Was super excited that I was able to wear this boot. I have a wide thick foot but these fit great. But....after wearing them I got a blister under my right ankle. Where the rubber meets the Leather is where my ankle is. Gonna need to return!

I did not wear these long enough to give a review of durability. I have a very narrow foot and if you do too, you will want to wear a couple pairs of thick socks with these to get a snug fit.

Believe them when they say you need to order smaller sizes. If you wear sweat socks, your feet will float. The tongue of the boot is very stiff. Having difficulty breaking in. Having to use moleskin to protect shin.

Overall the shoes are fine, they are water tight so far. The biggest problem is the design of the tongue. It is was to big and does not lay flat when the shoes are tied causing mild pain to the foot and lower leg. Maybe after some wear this will get better.

These boots are great looking however if you do not spend the extra money on getting the lined ones, your feet will be cold.

Amazing boot, great style and very comfortable. Within a week I noticed that a leather piece inside the shoe that sort of wraps around the heel has lifted up, and it stabs me in the back of the heel constantly. That's kind of a bummer with the high price you pay for these boots, you'd expect just as high of a quality.
Moreover, when they say size down, that's an understatement. Usually wear a 13, bought a 12 as recommended, and still they are way too big.

Just got the boots and was really disappointed that they were too small. The sizing recommendation were off for me. Ordered a size down per recommendation and my toe was right at the end of the shoe with a lightweight sock. No way I could have added any thicker sock at all.
However, great quality and will re-order in my regular size. Not liking that I have to pay to return ship!!

This boot is to replace an older, smaller boot that is a bit snug. It fits much better.
My only criticism is the leather upper seems to be a lesser quality than the older boot or even my wife's boots. It seems cheap.

I take a size 11EE in other boots. I got these in size 10EE and they seem to fit well. Nevertheless, I am returning them. The description says they have a steel shank, however, if there is a steel shank in there, it runs no more than half the length of the boot. As a result, the entire forefoot provides no more support than a good gym shoe. These will not work well for me and the rough terrain around here.
Also, the use of standard shoelace eyelets for the entire tongue length instead of using quick lace eyelets at the top, is a quaint, though unfortunate, design decision.
Request to LLBean folks: the more information you can place in an item's description on your website, the less likely your customers will have to return something that is not quite what they expected. Example: the shank length on these boots.

Disappointed with the boots. Wish I had opted for another brand. I was looking for a winter boot and was persuaded by the salesperson that these would work well. He was wrong!

I wear 91/2 W and ordered 81/2 W. Way too difficult to put on. I believe it is because of the narrow throat / instepp and gusseted tongue, especially if you have a high instep. Not worth the struggle so I returned them.

Plusses: good quality leather & stitching, gusseted, waterproof (if leather/rubber seam is sealed.
Minuses: Goofy sizing, soft sole wears rapidly, heel is undersized, wears rapidly, not much traction in slippery conditions, e.g. mud or snow.
Neither plus nor minus: Insufficient support for rough ground, but fine for easy trails, etc. Warm enough to at least the teens if moving. These could be so much more with a durable lug sole. I had to order two sized down to get a proper fit.

I purchased these Bean boots for my husband and was told to go down in size. They are too tight and he has been trying to stretch . We no longer have receipt so we have to keep them. Be very careful in choosing your size

While in NY I bought a pair of these boots. After a short period if time I noticed they cracking on the lowers. Then the crackes opened up. Return rhem to the store because it appeared a defect in material. The clerk stated they could only issue a $49 refund because I didn't retain my receipt. LL BEAN is on the boats showing little or no wear? Thanks but no THANKS. Just not shopping there any more. Too many other choices available!

They did not fit, and the quality was not what I was expecting from LL Bean.
I went by their sizing chart. I would never have been able to put them on with heavy socks.

I mean 22/23 was quite the winter in the high sierra.... I expected more than a singular year. Probably my mistake - although I would never use these out in the actually back country in the winter - it was just around town. I gave them a two on an account of the extreme weather and they fit my wide feet.

I bought these because somehow my old pair had been lost during the last move we made. I normally wear a size 10 1/2 shoe and that always gives me a great fit. The LLB boot fitment guidelines recommended that if I wore a 10 1/2 shoe I should order these boots in size 9 if I wore wore light weight socks. Yes, it said to order a downsize of 1 1/2. because there are no half sizes in these boots. That seemed bizarre to me so I ordered a size 10 which should have been on the roomy side of fitting my feet instead of a recommended size 9. UPS delivered them yesterday and I tried them on this morning. and they were too tight and I wasn't really surprised because I do wear size 10 1/2 shoes. The sizing fit guidance was wrong, but there was another issue to deal with. The amount of full width leather they put where you normally encounter a tongue in other types of boots and between the two rows of shoe lace grommets is excessive between the instep and ankle. This causes a loose uncomfortable area when laced up. I needed to over tighten the laces at the top to prevent my foot from moving around. Uncomfortable, and I think it would have caused me blisters! Suggestion for LLB. Make these boots in half sizes. If size 10 1/2 were made they would have fit me and I would have been able to keep them. My last pair of these LLB Boots were great. Unfortunately, these had to go back.

I have owned a few pairs of these boots and have always come back for another until now. I bought a pair and wore them for about two hours and noticed the lining in the bottom folded over. I reached out and was sent another pair with no problems. The new ones did the same thing. I had a lace break about a month after wearing the second pair and discovered one of the eyelets was improperly installed and had sharp edges as I found out with a cut finger. I fixed that myself but now broke a second lace and realized several eyelets are somewhat sharp on the edges.
I buy American made when possible and am willing to pay more for that reason and for the reason that American made is almost always better but in this case it is obvious that the quality has deteriorated to the point of poor. I will not buy this brand of boot again.

Too big & didn't lay right with boot cut jeans. Ordered size down as advised, he normally wears 10.5, ordered sz 9. Although brand has LL Bean on Duck boots, wonder if they are same style or fit if I had ordered directly thru LL Bean website. Very Disappointed !!!

I'm just getting around to writing this review because my other winter boots finally failed, and I was forced to wear the Bean boots again. The other boots were a pair of [redacted] from the late 90's and they were laid to rest after the rubber lowers failed beyond repair. Note they never separated from the leather uppers, unlike our friend here.
Within the first season of light use, these Bean boots separated at the leather upper / rubber lower junction. I see many others have had the same issue. Now they're my only pair of winter boots, so I can't ship them back and be without them for the season. I'm forced to wear waterproof socks with the boots when I'm in snow. My hopes were high when I purchased these, and they've unfortunately been nothing but a disappointment.
Sizing: Size one full size down from your Vans, if you're buying the unlined version. The fit with waterproof socks will be great, until the rubber digs into your ankle bone.

I bought a half size below what I usually wear, and it was still 1-2 sizes too large. It's also just incredible stiff and uncomfortable - it gave me blisters after walking about 7 blocks. Maybe that's because of how large it was, but I think even in the right size it would be really stiff and hard to walk in. I'm returning it and will look for waterproof hiking boots, which hopefully will be more comfortable and will work better to walk.
