Before I start this review, I regularly review outdoor gear and work, live and play outdoors. I was looking for "bum-around" boots to wear around town because my friend said she wanted me to wear "casual clothes" for going out, and these fit the bill nicely. They look good with jeans, chinos, and flannels, and that's the REAL market for these boots. I've tried hiking and Winter activities with these boots, and they have no grip on ice (Ice Fishing, Snow Shoeing, etc.). If you're planning on using them as your winter boots in real winter conditions, get them big enough for a couple pairs of socks and replace the insert with a wool insert (for which they're lots of manufacturers). They run large, so you will definitely need to size down! What's amazing to me is that there is not one single video on their website about how to care for the product that put this company on the map. Big miss for customer education / loyalty on their signature product

It fits true to size. These types of boots focus on function and style but not comfort.

Upper leather was glued to lower rubber base of shoe and not sewn as in the past. I am returning and purchasing another pair in hopes the supplier will construct the shoes as in the past. Until this pair, the L.L. Bean has been a top quality constructed shoe.

I'm on my second pair because the sizing is so wonky. I'll have to sell these and try again with another smaller size. I've never had this much trouble with a shoe company's fit. These are durable and work well. But they're also extremely heavy. Heaviest footwear I've ever owned. I'm 6', 210, and fit, so it's not like I'm just a weakling. They're exceptionally heavy and you'll feel it walking around too long. If you need a boot that can work hard and stand up to elements, it's great. If you're interested in fit and comfort, this boot is not it. I keep ordering these because a wide width rain boot doesn't exist anywhere, so I have to buy this style just to have a rain boot. I'd love it if they made a rain boot that's not expensive, fit right, and doesn't weight a ton.

This boot does run a little big but is fine with two pair of medium to heavy socks. What I do not like is how uncomfortable they are around the ankles and that the tops are open by an inch or more.

These boots are well built, but they do not keep your feet warm. I work outside and with two pair of insulated socks and toe warmers my feet were freezing!

I like the boot and they are comfortable. Work well for what I need, but they do not hold up like they should for the price. This is my third pair and the stitching doesn't hold up well for being triple stitched. I can get about 1 year out of them before they come unstitched and need to be resown. I will have to buy an extra pair to have on hand while the current ones are being resown.

I normally wear an 11. Followed instructions for sizing down, but still slips on heel, even with a size 9 and thick socks. Need half sizes!

They keep you dry but they could have used hooks instead of whole so when as it it's it take a long time to re-lace and try them up.

I have worn LL Bean boots for over 50 years and have enjoyed most of the different models as I wear them throughout the year in Delaware. Made in USA, not China, is ALL IMPORTANT to me. The quality of LL Bean boots is second to none and my brand loyalty to LL Bean has been established and strengthened over this time These boots are the perfect height and weight (without insulation) for year round use for casual and field use. The uninsulated boot is my favorite boot and the style and look is distinctive. I wear Bean boots of different types every day throughout the year

Boots fit well and are very comfortable. However, the heal quickly wears down unevenly and lasts only one winter season. Should be designed with a better heal.

Doesn't have a tongue like normal boots so hard to get on because there is only the small opening, speed lacing would be nice so wouldn't have to lace half the boot each time, not recommended if u walk on gravel, u feel each rock so more cushion would be nice, would pay 25 more if those features was available.. otherwise seems ok

Purchased these duck boots while at (school, they had a makeshift store pop up.) Was excited and eager to buy since the company history and past clothing items I have had lasted for years. Within one year the rubber on the bottom began to wear off despite such day to day normal terrain in NYC, the rain and snow I encountered was normal and they did manage to keep my feet dry but the heels and rubber wore down a lot quicker than expected. This Fall I noticed that stitching and glue came off on one boot. Tried to get a return at the store with copy of my receipt by the best they could do is resend them and see if they could resole them which might or might not be waived. I agreed and now need to wait 4 weeks to see if they are repaired. For the amount of history and dedication to their quality of products this company has I thought the boots would 1) at least last longer than just 2 mere seasons of Fall/Winter and 2) an even exchange could of been done since clearly the glue and stitching are quality imperfections. Hopefully they can resole them at no additional costs but overall kind of bummed out

Order one size smaller than you wear. I wear Men's 12's and had to return them for size 11's. The 12's I received were more like 13-13.5. LL Bean sizes are MUCH larger than standard. Apparently, this is for "thick socks" and their "thumb rule" for air circulation. Quality lives up to the hype and would recommend, but absurd sizing lead to 3 Star rating.

The boot is very nice and great quality but if your feet sweet they will really sweet in these boots. Takes a while to break the boot in. Great for walking the dog on wet days and wet work.

They're awesome except for the little leather piece at the bottom of the heal. It came off multiple times on both boots and was very annoying. Other than that they were aswesome!

See picture - the shoe should have never passed quality control with these glue marks on the leather. It's on its way back to Maine.

I normally do not write reviews, but I've been a LL Bean customer for over 30 years and decided now is a good time. I received my Bean Boots in January of 2016 and have been less than satisfied with my purchase. I owned a pair in the early 90's and there is no comparison. The soles of the newer boots show considerably more wear than they should for the age and usage of the boots and the leather tops are cut uneven and not symmetrical. This is not the quality I had expected nor used to. I even contacted the company, and their response was for me to send them back and pay to have them resoled. My how the times have changed.
