Plusses: Good quality leather, well tanned. Nice to see old-fashioned lacing eyelets. Mine are watertight, but I did seal the leather/rubber seam when new. A good choice for slop-mud, melting snow. Full-length tongue gusset helps a lot. My unlined pair with heavy wool socks are warm enough to mid-low twenties, as long as I'm moving.
Negatives: Why Bean clings to goofy sizing escapes me. I would normally wear a 14M, but had to get these in 12N to fit. Circumference of the upper is very large, opposite egdes almost meet when tightly laced. Very flexible sole makes for comfort, but is too soft for rough ground. Soft rubber on sole, and undersized heel makes for fast wear. Chain tread is a poor choice for this boot - a deeper lug would be desireable for mud & snow. As-is, they are better adapted to going out for the mail on a rainy day than walking through the marsh, which (I think) is a real shame.

After being broken in the boots are relatively comfortable for me. I normally wear a size 8 1/2 so I ordered a 7. It feels like I should be wearing thicker socks with this size but isn't too much of a bother for me personally. I've noticed the top fabric of both insoles are already peeling off but this could be due to me slipping the boots on and off rather than unlacing them. It's been raining a lot recently so I'm really glad to have these and I tend to even where them when the weather is clear. These are a great pair of boots to own and overall I'm really happy with my purchase

Bought as a gift for my son in law. Nice boots but cut very large...had to return for a size smaller.

Quality is great but sizing online is really tricky...had to return and waiting for a new size.

They are very well made and should last a long time. They are not very comfortable I was hoping that they would feel better with heavy socks but they didn't help that much

L.L. Bean builds a beautiful boat without question. L.L. Bean builds a beautiful without question. Though the interior between the lower shell and upper leather is initially sharpe and causes chafe. I trust that this will wear a smooth or a lease more comfortable with time. Perhaps beveled in the cut with illuminate this problem. All in all still a very nice product.

I love my boots, but the day I got them, the leather piece on the back of the boot ripped and now is handing by a small piece of leather. Also, I do not think they are waterproof like I though because my feet have gotten a little wet from stepping in small patches of snow. Overall, I love my boots, but a little disappointed because they ripped so fast

I really like the boots. The only thing I do not like is the laces. They are way too stiff.

I love my bean boots, they are so comfy. I'm on my feet 8 hours and I don't get any blisters on my feet, and no back pain. I definitely will be buying more.

These boots are great! If you have medium to narrow feet, I recommend ordering the narrow boots. They run large all around.
Love them for rainy and snowy weather!
I will continue to purchase bean boots!

The boots are very stiff. I thought they would be very pliable but, they were not. I need to wear heavy sock when I wear these boots.

Tried on two pair, a size 12 and size 13. The 12's were too small, the 13's too big! I went ahead and kept the 13's, but my feet slide around in them a bit. Maybe I am just between sizes, but these do not have the snug fit I was hoping for.

The boots fit well, and are waterproof, until the stitching in the heel comes apart and allows the leather top to separate from the rubber bottom. After that they are not so waterproof!

This is my 3rd pair of these boots since 1974. During this period I live in Alaska 20 years and wore them based on seasons. After moving to FL wore them only during wet conditions. Since relocating to SC in 2004 I have made these boots my yard & work boots. I love them and only upgraded the insoles after 2 years. For me they have been extremely durable and 100% waterproof. The previous pair lasted 10 years with me resealing the seams one time with super glue. The leather uppers in this new pair appear to be stiffer than I remember and will take longer to break in than I wish on my old feet. I wish all products were made this well. Thanks Bean for great American made quality.

Pros:This boot is waterproof. Cons: I need to get boot with the inside lining. With out the lining it damages my socks.

Very nice, clean sleek look to it. I love them first pair I've ever bought and I can honestly say I love them, feet get kinda cold but if you put on your heavy socks it should be fine. Hate to say it but there's some string from the stitching hanging out and I'm to scared to pull or cut them. Size feels a bit big but not big enough for me to order another size down. But I still like them, great for rain or muddy areas. Just wish the stitching was already coming out it hasn't been a month yet. They offer a year warranty so I guess you can't argur that.

Order EE wide and they were still narrow. Probably order 1/2 size larger for a reasonable fit.

Long shortly short with the new warranty claim. My old Bean Boots purchased in 2014 (2018 now) were coming apart at the seams and not covered. They have the option to ship up your boots and they will resew them but it seemed like a hassle for the cost. Ended up just ordering a new pair.

The Maine Hunting Shoe ("Bean Boot") is a good product. Reasonably durable and somewhat reasonably priced. However, the insoles wear out quickly. I have had this pair for just a couple months and worn them about 10 times and already one of the insoles has the gray fabric layer delaminating from the green foam lower layer.
This has happened to me with several pairs of Maine Hunting Shoes (I've been buying them for three decades) and Bean always makes me pay for replacements.
Generally Bean stands behind their product, but this delaminating/poor quality insole is an anomaly that Bean has, to date, refused to stand behind.
I will call customer service when they are open and when I have time during their hours of service and ask for a replacement.
Depending on the response I may revise this review in a more or less favorable light.
ps. I wish they had an "extra wide" to accommodate my wide feet.

These boots will certainly keep your feet dry, and they look good. I have two issues with them. First of all, they're too big overall. I have a pair of lined Bean Boots, and those fit pretty well. I'm guessing these are the same boot just without the lining. Secondly, the leather is way too stiff. That's also the case with my lined boots. I've had those a couple years and they're still too stiff. I've run them through the washing machine and worn them out a lot and they still feel like I'm wearing cardboard. That said, I'll keep them just because I use them to snow blow my driveway. They keep me dry.

Maybe my 4th pair over the last 30+ years. Very good boots. The leather doesn't seem like the same quality that is used to be though.

I wear a men's 9 med in street shoe. I bought an 8 which fit great with average socks. I loved them in summer. I wore them in winter with light to medium weight socks and froze my feet within minutes standing in snow in 20F. If you want them for winter order regular size and wear very very heavy socks with liner

Quality is excellent and what I expected. They certainly keep the snow out! However, because the tongue is attached to the uppers they can be difficult to get on unless the laces are very loose. But thats a minor inconvenience.
Also follow the guidance provided on sizing! It may seem counterintuitive but its correct.
