I'm just getting around to writing this review because my other winter boots finally failed, and I was forced to wear the Bean boots again. The other boots were a pair of [redacted] from the late 90's and they were laid to rest after the rubber lowers failed beyond repair. Note they never separated from the leather uppers, unlike our friend here.
Within the first season of light use, these Bean boots separated at the leather upper / rubber lower junction. I see many others have had the same issue. Now they're my only pair of winter boots, so I can't ship them back and be without them for the season. I'm forced to wear waterproof socks with the boots when I'm in snow. My hopes were high when I purchased these, and they've unfortunately been nothing but a disappointment.
Sizing: Size one full size down from your Vans, if you're buying the unlined version. The fit with waterproof socks will be great, until the rubber digs into your ankle bone.

These boots fit a bit bigger than yourse expect. Definitely size down. Also, I normally wear mens boots, but actually opt for the womens because I have a narrow heel. These are some of my favorite winter boots and would never go through a rainstorm or winter without them.

This boot does run a little big but is fine with two pair of medium to heavy socks. What I do not like is how uncomfortable they are around the ankles and that the tops are open by an inch or more.

Repair was on a 9 Narrow, wish I had not had it done. Bean was great when I called them about this, but so others know the sizing is very different than it was, not the same bottom.

Boots were great but the company sent two different styles of the boot; L is insulated, R is not. Very disappointing.

Seems that sizing has changed a bit. Previous purchases of this item( or very similar) found the narrow size just right and hemce me coming back for decades. But now my feet are swimming in these.

Boots fit well, and look nice. Will have to see how they hold up during use this winter before giving a full 5 stars, but I have high hopes! Also, go at least a size down for anyone considering purchasing them.

Impressive quality, very waterproof. Narrower than expected for a men's work boot. Stitching clearly done by hand, should hold up anyway

Not the most comfortable boot but it keeps your feet dry. I probably should have bought a narrow instead of regular. The inside of the boot where the rubber needs the leather a head scratcher for me. There's a piece of leather for a smooth transition for the back around your Achilles heel...why not put that all the way around? Would feel a lot better if that was the case.

I bought one size smaller than what I normally wear and it works well for thicker socks. The leather is stiff but will break in nicely. Especially using the boot treatment I bought with them to keep them waterproof. It works well softening the leather also. I can feel the texture of the sole but it actually feels like a massage while walking. I would have preferred a slip type eyelets. I am going to change to a parachute cord type boot lace because the ones that came on them are too stiff. I haven't worn them in snow yet but, they are good wet weather boots.

The first thing I did after trying on for size was to apply boot treatment purchased with boots. The leather uppers are a little stiff but should break in ok. On hindsight I would have ordered the rumpled leather pair. I recommend lacing loosely the top two eyelets until broken in. I will update review after I've worn these awhile.

I like my new boots very well but would like the leather a little softer and the laces more flexible

I purchased the boots by mail without having tried them on. The high arch of my foot made it difficult to put on the boot for the first two weeks but after wearing the boots for those two weeks I found them much easier to put them on. I do not regret buying the boots: they are as snug and waterproof as advertised. Another time, however, I would try on the different sizes before buying them.

Honestly these were what I could get for my husband who's been wearing the 10 inch version for 45 years. We have been trying to buy the 10 inch model for over 2 years & recently found out you'll be discontinuing this boot model ( I think in all the heights.)which makes us very sad. The hunting boot is good but the soul is softer(prob. to make it quieter) and wears out sooner. He is a forester & wildlife biologist so these are 2 - 3 season boots for him and he covers a lot of ground in a year. We will probably have to look for an alternate boot for him before these wear out & I don't think your current selection has something as suitable as this boot so will have to look elsewhere. We are indeed sad that these staples he has relied on for 45 years won't be available anymore. We know change happens and you have to be flexible, but sometimes it's a real bummer! The lower rating was just because he couldn't get the 10 inch model. No structural problems as far as he could tell. It's great that he can get them in Wide. Thanks for having them for all these years.

These are huge! I'll keep them for my oldest to grow into but if you're buying them for wear now, get yourself some thick socks or go down a size.

Glad I could find these in 13 N. My first pair of LLB boots. They are the classic duck boot so not much you can say about the style. I will only be wearing them in snow and slushy weather so hopefully they will last a long time. They do feel wider than a usual narrow sized shoe. A true narrow will lace evenly across the foot without scrunching up the fabric. Unfortunately these do cause folding of the fabric when the laces are tightened and there is side to side space inside. Still a better fit than a traditional snow boot with medium width.

Purchased so as to work around the house during wet periods. A bit hard on the heels of both feet, but they are 68 year young feet; wondering if there is a comparable boot for winter wear? A tad tight.

I've wanted a pair of these for a long time and finally ordered a pair. The quality is excellent, but the fit isn't quite what it should be. Based on other reviews I ordered my normal size & width. The length is fine, but they feel a little narrow. I'm debating returning them for the EE width because I don't think I could wear heavy socks with these. The laces that came with them are kind of thin and cheap-looking too. The boots themselves are great though.

These boots are great for trekking out into the snow. They fit great. The only real complaint I have is the Left Boot is much harder to get on. The Right Boot goes on without a fuss, but the Left one takes much more time. My wife has the 6" model and she says her left is also harder to put on.
