The flannel is beautiful fabric. I was looking for a cozy sweatshirt type of fit, and the photo depicted what I was looking for. When I tried it on it was more like a jacket or rain coat. Sadly I returned it.

Would a medium petite fit a little less baggy?

I've been eyeing this jacket since last fall, so I finally bought it. The small is perfect for me in the shoulders and the sleeves but the middle is beyond oversized. I love oversized fit items; however, I genuinely think this garment was incorrectly made. Rather than mess with an exchange (starting with the $6.50 to ship it back and still possibly get an ill-fitting garment), I took it to a tailor (for only $12) who took several inches out of the waist so it's still oversized but much more appropriately so. Hence the 4 star rating - high quality item, great material, love the color- it just needed a little help with the fit :)

I purchased one of these in Dress Gordon last fall as well as one of the button up lined flannel shirt jackets. This zip front flannel hoodie has been my go to for layering: it's roomy enough to layer over a sweater or tshirt, but lightweight enough to fit comfortably under a vest as well. The zipper closure wins out over the button up for ease. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 due to a few issues that other reviewers have mentioned as well: the oversized boxy fit and the "wavy zipper" issue after washing. I don't wash it after every wear as I usually have something layered underneath, but have laundered it at least 8-10 times without any noticable piling. The fit is large and somewhat boxy and although I would prefer a little more streamlined fit, it is not a deal breaker for me and I am actually back to order another in the Rob Roy print. For fit reference; I am 5'6" 145 lbs and ordered a medium with PLENTY of room. I do wish the sleeves were a smidge longer, but I usually end up cuffing them anyway.

I love this shirt. It's so soft, it fits my shoulders perfectly, it's large enough to wear as a jacket, but not so large that you swim in it. It's my new go-to cool weather top layer.
My only complaint is that I like my sleeves to be a tad longer/looser. These fall to the start of my wrists, and with the buttons done up, gaining access to my watch to see time involves a bit of wiggling. But, that's more a pet peeve than a fault of the shirt.

I purchased 2 of these zip up flannels. The material is soft and thick, with deep pockets. Good for cooler days. This is not a fitted shirt, runs somewhat big around, sleeves are tight considering, and short. Putting this flannel garment in the dryer causes the fabric to shrink and the zipper to pucker significantly. Due to non pre-washed fabric and bell like fit, not sure I could recommend this shirt to a friend.

I do love the way this hoodie looks, so I ordered when it went on sale in case they were about to be all gone. I knew the fit was relaxed, not what I want, but it was my only choice. I was a little disappointed when is arrived to find the length is a bit shorter than I would like as it does not cover enough. But I still love the way it looks and also the soft way it feels. The width, as described, is very relaxed and I am presently altering to give it some shape. The bottom edge of the hoodie, in particular, is very generous for a size small. The generous length of the sleeves will probably be rolled up. I considered returning for a smaller size, but that would have been even shorter. I now need to find a matching shirt to wear under it, although the black watch plaid will look good with several colors. So, this hoodie has brought some challenges, but I still love the way it looks and feels.

Good quality as always from LLBean, but slightly smaller than I would prefer, especially being a jacket and wanting room for a shirt underneath. My suggestion is to order up one size in women's.

I have two of these comfy flannel zip up hoodies, one in Stewart Victoria plaid, and the other in the Dress Gordon plaid. I feel these hoodies were purposely designed to be a loose relaxed fit, so they can be comfortably worn over heavy sweaters. I have found them to be quite useful and comfortable.
I wash mine on the hand wash or delicate washer setting in cold water, and dry for just a very short time on very low heat, then take them out and hang them to dry fully. I have had no shrinkage by doing this. I am happy with my two shirts, but do wish they were made of a bit heavier flannel, as they are rather light weight.

This jacket is a good quality fabric and good construction, but the fit is quite full. I had to take in about 4 inches and it is still big. I liked it well enough to keep it.

I'm going to keep this, although I find the proportions a little off. It seems like it is meant to be worn over a t-shirt, although it can be certainly be worn alone. The body is a bit wide, more than accommodating to a shirt underneath, but the sleeve are just regular sleeves like on a button down flannel shirt. I'm not sure if a long sleeve t-shirt would be comfortable underneath. I'll try it. I'm nitpicking, but I do wish the sleeves were a little longer. I am tall, so I frequently have that issue. They're not exactly too short, but I would prefer another quarter to half an inch. None of these are big enough issues for me to return the shirt. I do like it and was glad to pick one up on sale. I think it will be a unique addition to my casual wardrobe.

I love everything about this, except the length. It's just a bit shorter than I would have liked it to be. The sleeve length is fine, it's just the length of the body that could use a couple more inches. I don't think it's too big, but it is a little roomy, which is fine with me. The fabric is very nice!

This is on the verge of being too large and having to be returned but I love the pattern so I kept it to wear as a top layer on casual days

This is a cute jacket. Well made. Very soft flannel. But...I think it would look better if it were a little longer in length. LL Bean seams to not want to keep up with the style in this area. I love most of what I get from them but please make the tails on your jackets longer. Most of us gals like our backside covered a bit. I sent mine back for this reason.

The flannel is thick and soft! Not the case with all llbean flannel. It's comfortable, sleeves are long enough, and it's cute. The only negative is that the fit around the hip area is very big. I'm keeping it though because overall it's a very nice zip flannel shirt.

I could have gone a size smaller but the upper arms are too small. Otherwise it's a loose fit.

This is a nice quality item, but I was disappointed in the narrow shoulders and the arm length, which was too short. I usually wear a size 8 and the medium was too tight in the shoulders and too short in the arms for me. Raglan sleeves would help the fit, or just a bit bigger in the shoulders. Also, I ordered two different colors and the blue/green was smaller than the gray plaid.

I purchased two of these jackets: one for myself and one for my daughter. Among the new plaid products, this is my favorite color choice. Both jackets are true to size & a great weight for cool fall days. The only issue I have is that the plaids do not match on the side seams. I understand that it increases the cost of a garment if plaids are matched. I would prefer paying the extra amount. Nevertheless, my daughter and I like the jackets very much and I am very pleased that plaids are again popular!

Overall, I like this item; the color, materials, and quality are nice. It is more of a light jacket (as opposed to similar to a hoodie sweatshirts). The fit was bigger than I expected; it is especially big and loose in the torso, so you could wear a bulky sweater or fleece underneath. I think a slightly slimmer fit would've been more flattering and less bulky for activity (it kind of droops and gets in the way when you lean forward). I would go down to a small size, except I'm worried about the sleeves being too short (they are just right) and tightness across the upper back. If you are have narrow shoulders, definitely go down a size. I'm still going to keep it and wear it for hanging out on chilly evenings or camping.

Very cute shirt/jacket/hoodie. Not quite sure which category it fits. Beautiful, substantial flannel. I get a lot of compliments when I wear it. I wish it was a tad longer. I find I need to lightly iron the zipper area after washing because it tends to curl a little.

Very comfortable. It isn't lined so it isn't too hot to wear indoors, on airplane etc. easy to layer over and/or underneath other things, so it is easy to work with. Only a couple minor downsides: I have long arms and wish the sleeves were a tad longer (I feel this way about many shirts) and after washing and wearing a bit this has an unkempt/wrinkled look. Still I prefer all cotton so I'm ok with that. FYI that it is NOT a straight across hem, so it does look more like a shirt than a jacket.
