Because the lace box starts a tad further up on the version 11, making the toe box longer, I can no longer wear these shoes. My foot does not stay stable without the extra support of the laces that I found in the version 10. I have always loved the cushioning in these shoes yet they are light weight. I have always loved the color choices as well. But now I am going to have to move to another shoe, most likely another brand with the same level of cushioning.

I run in these shoes and wear them to work as I'm on my feet and on concrete all day long. I have LOVED the earlier iterations of these shoes since they were released...but these ones, not so much. This is sad because I think I have to find a new brand... :( I have a permanent sesamoid bone break and I must wear orthotics (w/the donut hole to relieve pressure) or else the tendons get irritated, swollen, and I have to wear and air cast for a month. So orthotics it must be! 1) The new back of the shoe no longer curls in, but swoops out away from the heel. My heel is no longer "cupped" enough to get adequate grip so it does not pop out with each step. 2) The laces are placed higher on the top of the foot - that means more pressure on my nerves, which can lead to a numb foot - but I have to keep them laced tightly enough so my heel doesn't pop up with each step (see the dilemma here?) 3) This is personal preference, but I do not want my forefoot slipping and sliding around, which is why I prefer the laces to be lower/closer to the toes. I loved the older versions because the show allowed for this, but it still had a large toe-box which gave toes room to move enough there was no cramping. 4) With the laces higher, there is more pressure on the top, mid-foot, AND I can no longer wear heavier socks as they are just too tight! They look fine, but looks are never enough. Please, NB, get rid of these "new" features! They are terrible!! At least please allow the older versions to have a life!!! I will give them a home! I have 4 pairs in my closet right now!!

The back of the shoe was weird for me , not sure what it's called but where my ankle bends the back of the shoe would dig into the back of my ankle with each step. I did exchange for a different fresh foam in the store and these have been great, so that's a good thing but these were just not the shoe for me

The 1080 is my was my favorite version of the New Balance Shoe. It was also the shoe my podiatrist recommended. I always buy two pairs every year. I'm glad I only purchased one pair. This pair is horrible, the shoe hurts my foot by the end of day. The shoe tongue is short and is rubs the top of my foot. I've never had this problem with previous versions of the shoe. The previous versions of 1080 were a better quality shoe. For the cost, I'm highly disappointed.

Disappointed. I've had two previous versions of this sneaker and had hoped V11 would have a similar fit. Unfortunately, my heels pop up when walking and it was difficult to tie the shoe laces. The heel height on the newer version is lower and eyelets too tight. I'm now in search of a new sneaker.

I have four pairs of the 1080v10 in the 7 1/2 W and they fit me perfectly. Just ordered 2 pairs of the 1080v11 and they are much bigger though seem identical in every other aspect. Wider and longer. How about sizing consistency year to year? Already wore one pair briefly outside and the heel kept on slipping, sadly, that pair can't go back. No idea what size I am! Pretty sure the 7 W will be too short and the 7 1/2 Med will be too narrow! So annoying!

Not sure what happened with this style but the shoe is very tight with no flexibility on top by the curved part of the foot . I am not able to use these shoes which is too bad because I used to love them for long runs.

Much tighter than expected. My old NB fit perfectly, but the newer models are getting harder to find the right fit. They seem to keep getting tighter in the toe length and sometimes in the toe width.

I don’t find them terribly comfortable. It isn’t the size, they are just too hard on the bottom.

Just completely changed this shoe since my last purchase. There used to be stretchy band supports from the side heel up under the tongue of the shoe which really helped keep your foot in place if you have narrow heels like me. Now it's just feels like a big spongy boot...yuck!

Terrible redesign. You can barely move the shoelaces and there is ZERO heel stability in the back. My foot doc said these were terrible and he was right. Sent them right back. New balance WHY?! Bring back the good ol 1080.

Horrible fit. I liked the previous models so much better. This was my go to shoe for long distances and I do not like the new model at all

I've run through at least 5 pairs of the 1080v10. Covered thousands of miles in them and loved them. The v11 just isn't the same. It's wider and I have a ton of heel slippage. It still feels very cushioned but my foot slides around while running and I just don't feel secure. Definitely disappointed with this version.

I wanted to love these gorgeous purple 1080s as much as I love my old ones, but it was not to be. Everything felt a little off, too much pressure here, too loose there, or something. The laces are, obviously by design, resistant to pulling through the holes -- great if you want them to remain exactly as adjusted, but an annoying hindrance when putting on or taking off the shoes. And the weird heel is ... weird. Can't tell if it's lined with a smooth fabric or is bare textured vinyl, but looks guaranteed to cause blisters on a bare heel. Worst of all, the innermost portion of the heel cup hits below where a normal collar would hit, so pressure in an odd place. It might improve as I beat down the insole a bit, but I believe in perfection out of the box. I have a high arch and high instep, but it's never been a problem before. New Balance needs to give up on these weird heels and go back to normal padded collars.

It is different. It did not fit me well and I do own 2 pair of 1080W of previous model. The top of the shoe fabric stretches which depending on the person could be good or bad. The collar of the shoe doesn't really have any padding and did not fit tight to my ankle. I figured small stones would easily kick in when walking. Just not a good fit for me.

Visually I got to be honest that I think these are ugly but if the comfort was out of this world I would have kept them. Unfortunately, I felt they also had a super odd fit. Its really hard to get the back of the shoe on your foot. Once on, the heel of the felt too high. Overall very odd feeling and looking in my opinion!

I'm so disappointed in this new iteration of the 1080 - I own the 1080v10 and it's a perfect fit, comfortable and supportive in every way. Sad to say, the 1080v11 has a shorter tongue, is cut lower around the ankles, and has a lower back. The toe box is also narrower so my big toe hits it which is not the case with the 1080v10. New Balance, bring back the old version of this shoe!

New Balance, what happened with the design of this shoe? The lacing system/configuration is just plain odd. And if that isn't enough, why is it that the shoe lace end is standard--round--but the holes are narrow rectangles? That said, there is lots of cushioning in the step, which is nice, so if my heel didn't slip, I might have tried to make it work. Also, the toe box is a little wide for my narrow, low-volume foot (even though it's a narrow). I'm grateful for the great Zappos return policy!

I am a loyal wearer of New Balance 1080s. The change a couple of years ago to a knitted upper was welcomed because it allowed for a little more adjustment for narrow feet. This current model took that away by making the knitted fabric too unstructured and by putting a stiffer material in the sides, making the shoe too big for narrow feet. Unfortunately, I will have to try to scoop up V10s while they still last and hope that they correct this mistake in V12.
I'd also recommend:

I really liked this shoe when I got it. It fit correctly with my orthotics inserted and the toe box was comfortably sized. Unfortunately, like others have mentioned in their reviews, the heel support embedded in the foam heel has split down the center. I have worn the shoes 20 times or so. Now with the broken heel cup support, my heel continually slips out and the back of my foot moves around. This type of issue shouldn't happen with shoes that have only been used for 6 weeks. I would not buy these shoes again. Very disappointed in the quality.

I was sent the wrong width in the shoe so I'm unable to wear it.
