I bought this for my son who does not like to carry excessive baggage. Enough room for what he needs and uses it as a carry on for his flights. He uses the bag as a backpack more than a duffle bag. Need more backpack carry ons in bigger sizes which are backpacks.

Very Shallow, which makes it a waste for carry on when I am trying to maximize space.

This duffle seems very durable. There's lots of nice features including backpack straps (if you plan to use them), laptop sleeve, two side pockets, and a mesh pocket on the inside. However, I found it to be very stiff, heavy, and cumbersome. The entire duffle comes neatly folded in one of the side pockets but good luck getting it back in there once you've taken it out. The inside partition is a flimsy little pad that has some annoying toggle buttons to secure. I also found some stitching issues with my bag the day I received it so make sure you check the seams of your bag carefully!

This bag is super durable but definitely not the biggest. I have other 42L bags and this one felt substantially smaller

So i had very high hopes for this duffel bag, unfortunately it didn't meet my expectations . Pro 1. Great looking 2. many different size pockets 3. color nice Cons 1. very heavy once fully packed 2. The shoulder straps are flimsy and painful when using as a backpack. 2. awkward to carry with one hand ( weight distribution is weirdly off. 3. no back support when in backpack mode. 4. absolutely needs a strap to connect the shoulder straps in the middle when being used as a backpack. almost dropped bag several times while using like a backpack. My other Northface backpacks have a secure strap. 5. lastly missing water bottle pockets. This will probably be my last duffel bag from Northface.

This is a great bag if you don't plan to use the backpack straps. The straps are too close together at the neck. Caused neck pain and if wearing a t-shirt was abrasive against the skin.

Computer slot doesn't fit a 16" MacBook and shoe slot doesn't fit large shoes.

I feel its a pity this bag could be so so much better with very little. The backpack mode works poorly, the straps are stiched very close together at the neck area and they put a lot of pressure on it. They are also not wide, the bend, and you feel them very quickly. A tiny little stern strap would improve the backpack experience a lot with very very little. In addition, the backpack straps are stiched to the operable lid, which means the bag transfers the load to the straps through the zip. It does feel like a design flaw...That zip is under a lot of pressure. Not sure how long it will last. The side handles cannot be stowed away, and the laptop pouch is placed right against your back. You dont need to be an ergonomics expert to realize that once you fill the bag, the stiff laptop clashes against the natural curve of your back and hits your vertebra... I would put a laptop pouch anywhere but against my back. The build quality is rather poor compared to other lines of products... it feels not very durable, and its a bag with very little self supporting structure (which isnt bad per se, its lightweight) but it will look awkard and rather unaesthetic at times. You can tell its a water repellent fabric but if you ever find yourself in a true rain situation it will not cut it. Too many weak seams and joins for the water to circulate. I feel this product has too many design flaws, its meant to look very functional but I think it does not perform. It has a rather poor built quality only in exchange of many compartments, pockets and a poorly placed laptop pouch. All these things could have been far better designed, and we would all enjoy a far superior bag. In fact, a lot of this flaws are not present in the camp base duffle bag, which is much better built, but lacking the "bells and whistles". If you need the bag to go to the gym, or do one weekend trip it will do ok, if you want to rely on it for a longer trip, and have the certainty that you carry great gear... thats not the choice.

used it about 3 times now but we recently noticed the zipper on the main opening was getting stuck and recently when I tried to close my bag the zipper popped out then I noticed that the seams on the main opening and by one of the straps are unraveling.took it to my alterations lady to have it fixed

I wouldn't buy this, it hurt my back so I had to buy another luggage. It was very uncomfortable to carry. I'll definitely return it.
