Just used this tent for our first camping trip. It rained 3 of the 4 days and the tent stayed dry the whole time! However, I didn't know that there is nothing that conceals the front of the tent without the vestibule attached. If you don't use the vestibule, it's one open screen so that's disappointing. We froze due to the cold but that's what blankets and sleeping bags are for.

The tent was very easy to set with his handy color coded poles. There is so much room inside and my partner who is 6'2" was able to comfortably stand up inside. I am only 5' tall and am able to comfortably stand in the vestibule. I do wish the window adjustments were on the inside of the tent, but not a huge deal! Perfect for a large family, or couple with a dog that likes their space.

This is my 2nd Wawona 6 as the previous single wall design was returned as defective. After a weekend trip with the family, I am confident that this update is a better design. In a price range that often still sees heavy fiberglass poles, this tent is a joy to transport to camp and goes up rather easy once you get the hang of the rainfly. Overall construction looks great and the near vertical walls and high ceiling make full use of the wide floorspace. The large porch area is a great feature for storage, hanging out, or just putting on your shoes, and pairs well with a beach mat to extend the separately purchased footprint. On the con side, the storage bag could stand to be larger, or at least have some compression straps to help swallow the fabric that never quite goes back the way that it came out from the store shelf when new. The footprint doesn't help much with the size either, so the drawstring closure is a bit taxed. Also, in part of the design change from the single wall Wawona 6, the back door loses it small vestibule area, and the door's gear pockets become a nuisance when anything is in them and you try to open the zipper. Overall, solid tent with a fun family size that is still surprisingly easy to pitch/pack.

This tent is massive. I was looking for a family tent that can fit my family of four, our stuff and my dog. It definitely does this. I'm 6'1" and can stand up at the apex. On that note, the web page should have the tent dimensions clear and easy to find. The directions need to be a bit more clear. Two of the tent poles are the same color and similar lengths. They should be different colors. I had my kids help me set it up but there is no way they can get the poles inserted into the grommets. You have to have significant hand strength to set it up. I assume it will get easier as the tent stretches over time. The tent is large and definitely fits all my stuff. We will see how it handles in the weather/wind. With how large it is I can see it being a little difficult to keep warm in the cooler months. There are two things I would like to see with the vestibule. Firstly, I wish it was self-supporting and didn't require tent pegs/tethers to stabilize it. Secondly, I wish the vestibule had a floor to keep it dry/keep dirt/grass out. It would be nice to sit with shoes off in inclement weather and not have to worry about grass/mud. I spoke with a representative and the footprint does not cover the vestibule. It only has a small flap that sticks out into vestibule area. Looks like I'll be bringing extra tarp/plastic to cover this area. Overall I would definitely recommend this tent if you have a car to transport the tent and you have a large group of folks.

My email to North Face. I just wanted to touch base with you after my first experience with my new Wawona 6 tent, the one with the separate rain fly. Basically, I just want to know if I should expect the bottom of the tent to be completely waterproof. We had decent rain for about an hour and the rain fly protected the top of the tent but a puddle of water made its way between the bottom of the tent and the footprint. This was around 8pm and by 8am the next morning the bottom of our tent was wet inside, as the water had seeped through. Is this normal for this tent? Thanks. Their response... I am so sorry to hear about your camping experience in the rain. I don't think you can expect the tent bottom to be completely waterproof. If the bottom of the tent got wet inside it may have been at an angle for the water to flow in. If we can be of more assistance please let us know. We would be happy to help! My thoughts.... Sounds like some quality feedback huh!? errrr

A disappointing revamp of the original Wawona 6. The footprint is different, a tad longer but quite a bit narrower. It's harder to set up and much more reliant on staking, not just to anchor the tent, but to shape it, which is a definite downside. The two layer construction may improve rain performance, though that was never really an issue with the original. The "ante-room" is larger, but there is now a significant gap (~3") between its walls and the ground which is not welcome. Putting the fly on the first time was confusing -- the instructions could be clearer. It will be a good tent, but not quite as good as the original (which was unfortunately holed by a falling branch).

I bought this tent expecting a 3 season tent, but was disappointed. The weather on my first camping trip was low 40's at night and high 50's during the day, not unusual for New Hampshire. Due to the large amount of screening on the ceiling and the entire door, I was unable to use a heater successfully. The fly also doesn't extend far enough past the side screen to prevent the wind from getting into the tent. If there was a zippered covering on the door, that would be a great help in keeping the heat in the tent. What I love about the tent is the large vestibule, especially in rainy weather. The tent is waterproof, a must when camping with a toddler. Even though this is a large tent I can set it up and take it down by myself.

I had high hopes for this tent, design is great, but it just didn't keep the rain out. Second trip out with this tent I woke up to water dripping from every seam in the roof. I've never had a tent that let so much water in. Very disappointing.

I returned this tent after my 1st family outing in it. Zack's 1 star review is pretty spot on. We were covered with dust and sand in the morning as the vestibule doesn't go down to the ground allowing the wind to blow under it and send sand & dust through the mesh front door, and my whole family was covered in it from higher winds. This problem could have easily been solved for it they had a secondary solid zip or roll down to cover the mesh screen door or allowed for the vestibule to be all the way down to the ground. I loved everything about this tent except for those design flaws, unfortunately those are deal breakers. I'll find a tent that has the option to close off the front door. We were camping higher altitudes of Colorado, where the weather can change drastically fast.

The half fly and completely mesh front doors are a terrible design that fails any time the tent is placed in windy cold, sandy or dusty areas. The half fly directs wind directly into the tent via the mesh openings at the top of tent. Along with the full mesh front doors, dust and sand particles easily enter and accumulate inside the tent. The tent is terrible for any environment where there are cold winds and or dusty/sandy windy areas. Im speaking from experience of a tent filled with dust particulate after a trip to the high desert. The half fly made the situation even worse by directing the wind chill directly into our tent causing super cold conditions. This tent could have easily been the best tent on the market, however the marmot halo 6 has it beat due to these very important, but overlooked design features. The tent is excellent outside these conditions, but at this price point, it should be able to perform adequalty in the aforementioned environments, as there are many cheaper tents that perform perfectly in these conditions. This is an easy fix by engineers that could make this the best tent available, but until then stay away.

Does anyone know where I can buy the front pole for this tent? It broke down on us the second time we used the tent. For the amount of money I spent on it I expected a much sturdier tent. Wanted to love it but was very disappointed. Also they took down my previous review on this tent, so much for honest reviews.
