I bought these after trying the previous model, which I didn't like at all. These seemed to allow for a more natural foot shape. Even with my orthotics, they still fit great and allowed room for my toes to spread in the toe box. Unlike the previous model, the tongue is softer, wider, a bit higher and lays better against my ankle creating a good seal against the elements. The waterproofing worked great for me even in deep puddles. And they're so stylish. Finally a hiking boot that doesn't look like every other boot out there. One thing to note, the ankle support and sole is less stiff than the previous model so if you really rely on that support this might not serve you as well. They could use a smidge more cushioning. My feet felt a bit tired after a 2 hour hike. Also, the laces are useless and don't stay tied at all because they're round and stiff so plan on replacing them with a different style if you want them to stay tight. Overall, I still really like them for casual hiking in elements.

I was initially really excited about these boots because it look like a combined all of the good elements of other Salomon boots. After plenty of chances and technical issues on even simple trails, I'm saying goodbye to these boots after less than two months of use and just over a hundred miles. They've already torn, the laces are already frayed, they run too big, my feet are instantly hot, and overall just uncomfortable. I was really hoping these were going to be great.

I am in love with these boots ! Sized up a 1/2 and they fit perfectly. So comfortable, breathable and they look amazing. In love with the colour and they don't look or feel big on my feet.

2nd pair of these I'd had. So, so comfortable - like putting on an old comfy pair of trainers - soft yet supportive with good soles. Can wear straight out of the box. Waterproof - for a while! The previous pair I had split at the 'crease' point within a few months. Let's hope these do better. Favourite boots for me!

Just purchased completed my first hike in these and they were perfect! Reached the summit and back down with no issues or soreness. I usually have trouble finding a good hiking boot that doesn't rub my ankles or hurt my feet. These boots have a very soft tongue and heel so no rubbing at all. I'm usually a 6-6.5 and I went with the 6.5 to leave room for swelling and thicker socks, so I would say tts. There's lots of room in the toe area as well so my toes don't feel squished even with my socks on. My husband is now going to buy a pair!

I've been purchasing Salomon hiking and trail running shoes for the past 20 years and these are by far my most FAVORITE pair. I often do 11-15 mile hikes over very rocky, uneven terrain and the cushioning in these shoes is superb as is the arch support, grip and overall stability. They are light and super comfortable from start to finish. Plus my feet stay dry through shallow stream crossings and don't overheat on warm days. Salomon, please don't change a thing about these hikers. Maybe just add some brighter colors?

I purchased these after a ton of research online.. it was between these and another brand. Absolutely LOVE these boots! They're comfortable with a thick sock, handle any/all terrain very well, and the waterproofing is impressive! I'm a K9 Handler for a local volunteer team, and I was looking for something that would hold up for miles. I also have had 2 lower back surgeries, so comfort and stability is a must. These boots have it all! I do recommend wearing a pair of thick socks, and even wearing them around the house for a few days to break in the toe area. I've recommended these boots to our entire SAR K9 Team!

I bought the wide Salomon X Ultra 4 Mid hiking shoe. It has surpassed my expectations. I have foot problems causing me a lot of pain when walking. This hiking shoe has been amazing. I can walk long distances (10,000+ steps) and my feet do not throb or hurt at the end of my walk. The ankle and arch support are great. I recommend this hiking shoe and will definitely buy more in the future!

I was really excited for this shoe! I tried on soooo many and decided to go with the Ultra 4 over the 3 because why not? I had to add extra insoles for cushion and the shoes fit significantly different in the ankle. I also found the footing to be too slippery for damp conditions. 2 star for style, otherwise 0.

I bought these boots last year to wear on a walking holiday in September 2021. I have been wearing them on the odd occasion over the winter (mostly dry days). I wore them on holiday in May, and they got quite wet, and soaked my socks. I have hardly worn them since. I wore them today (23/07/2022) to walk on a rough surface and it started to rain. By the time I got home, my feet were wet again. I did not expect this to happen when they are gore-tex and at the price I paid I expected better.

Super light and comfortable. I purchased size 7 and I would recommend them to a friend.

I purchased these several years ago just prior to a week long hiking trip to Yosemite. No break in required, comfort and support during day long hikes from the get go. I have a narrow foot and wear arch supports and these boots were fantastic. Then a new puppy decided to chew my boots! I was relieved when they came back in stock at LL Bean

I needed a trail tough boot while training for an off road women's rally event. These are earning their keep and still look great dirty! They're comfortable and leave just enough room for a heavy sock. We are working alternately in wet rocky terrain as well as desert conditions and I only have good things to say!

Perfect boot for me! I tried many many lightweight hikers on before landing on this gem. It's lightweight, waterproof, and has a footbed that tilts slightly in so that I don't feel the pressure on my smaller toes as I often do in hiking boots. I also love the ankle support. I've hiked several weekends with these and I think they are great!

I was a bit reluctant because of the price but these were perfect. Wore them for hours every day in Iceland for a week straight having limited break in time before leaving. NO issues. Comfortable fit. Great traction. Ideal warmth.

These boots are the best I've ever owned. I have issues with my feet, which aren't wide but I do need a wide toe box. These have allowed me to hike without foot pain for the first time in a few years. Now I've bought the Salomon trail runners for long walks with the dog on country back roads (they're equally amazing).

2nd pair of Solomon X Ultra. Light weight and comfortable. Hiked 7 miles 1time wearing them.

Bought this pair and then decided that I also needed the X Ultra ClimaSalomon Waterproof. Go figure. My excuse was that the X Ultra 4 Mid Gore-Tex was for rainy day, the ClimaSalomon for sunny day. I never regretted buying it. Love the color. Boots are so comfortable, even at first hiking, fits wonderful. Did not have any issues. And I never had doubts. Thank you Salomon for a wonderful product!
