I've had lots of Salomon walking shoes in the past so thought I would be safe to order these online. However, they have a poor tongue design and the laces start too high which creates an air pocket in the toe box area that makes a very annoying flapping noise with each step. Luckily I found somewhere still selling the X Ultra 3 so have ordered another pair of those and hope Salomon correct this design flaw if there is an X Ultra 5

Ive been wearing Solomon hiking shoes for at least 8-10 years. These are not so good, the tongue doesn't stay in place, not as comfortable as the other cross hikes in the past. Also, stiff. I hike, mountain bike, walk and elliptical.

I currently have four pairs of Salomon shoes. I don't wear any other brand of footwear. I'm not an athlete, I'm a old dear with diabetes who needs good sturdy fashionable shoes which don't rub and which do support my ankles. I've been wearing Salomons for the best part of 20 years. I got these thinking they would be nice and light for the summer months. They are pastry-coloured with green flashes, not a good look at all. I appear to be wearing a mouldy loaf on my feet. They are fairly shapeless and undefined which helps with the loaf illusion. I couldn't get the left shoe onto my foot without the back of the heel folding down and refusing to spring back into shape despite shoe-horns, spoons etc being utilised in the effort to get it on. The right shoe fitted fine. I was, though, very disappointed with the lack of support in the heel area. It felt as flimsy as a plimsoll. I love Salomon and recommend them to everyone but not this model, it's truly awful.

I'm an avid backpacker/runner and these gave me foot problems for five months. I wore these for a three mile hike and switched shoes to finish the ten miles. These gave me blisters and the arches of the feet to hurt. Afterwards I wasn't able to hike over three miles or even run for five months. I wouldn't recommend these to my worst enemy.

I'm a huge Salomon fan. I've purchased multiple pairs of hiking/Goretex, quick lace shoes. In the past, they slipped on like a glove and I could wear immediately without fear. Now? They are so narrow it actually hurts. The sizes seems to have changed too where I have to go bigger to get the same fit. It's a guessing game which one will work. What happened Salomon?

I should have written this review earlier when I noticed how poorly these shoes were holding up. But now I am on a rainy hiking vacation in Vermont and they are truly unacceptable. Water is seeping through the cracks. Very disappointed and dissatisfied. The price point for setting a few months occasional wear out of these shoes is ridiculous. Prior to this, I was a devoted customer of Salomon's hiking shoes/boots.

This is my fourth pair of x ultra 4 hiking shoes. These ones are so narrow. For the first time I got blisters and bruised toe nails. Gutted because I love the lacing system. The range of women's wider fitting is so limited (I'm actually "petite" in all my clothing except for salamis shoes

I have had these for 6 weeks using them for hiking on all terrains. The heel and sole have already worn down. I previously had x ultra gtx and found these better for wear. Salomon advertise the x ultra 4 gtx as their most durable contragrip sole but after warranty assessment I have been informed that my wear is normal!!
