I've worn Saloman gortex hiking shoes EXCLUSIVLY for over 25 years, but unfortunately I'm unable to find the style I like, and have worn all this time, in my size. I ordered these Utra 4's because they were the only hiking shoe in 7.5 available. After just 5 or 6 wears, the fabric at the back of the heal is all bunched up in one of the shoes, making it uncomfortable to wear. Also, because the fabric around the top/ankleheal area is some type of slippery nylon, no matter what socks I wear, my heal slips out when I'm walking. I'm so bummed, my old XACOMP 7s are so old and compressed, i just can't wear them any more. Hoping you guys make more COMP 7 style in gortex in 7.5.

Overall looks like a sweet pair of shoes. Got these in replacement to my GTX3 but had to return them due to the size being way bigger than the normal 7. To my surprise, the size chart shows that 23.5 centimetres corresponds to a size 6 whereas 23.5cm corresponds to a size 7 for their other women's shoes. Advice: measure your foot and look at the size chart !! When was time to order size 6 after completing my return, it was out of stock. Had to go with a different model. Other than the frustrating inconsistency in the sizing, great customer service.

I have many pair of boots and shoes from Salomon. These are the worst yet, I have lived there in speedcross ones so much they have holes in there soles, so bought these thinking similar. These are wider at the ankles which does not suit me, also the stitching inside these I can feel constantly. So I would say bigger made due to the blisters and rubbing. The plus side, is They do look good, shame no use for there purposes.

I think they are biased. Only talk to white customers. I regretted I purchased over $400.00 After I went back with just casual clothes, the customers service look at me like I cannot afford the merchandise, and kept walking away from me, and went to the white customers. I am truly regretted I spent $400.00

The item was defective. The tongue of the right would not stay in place. I would like another pair but it says no more in my size.

Terrible pricing. Found the exact same shoe at another store for almost $60 less. Do not shop at LL Bean unless you want to get ripped off on the price.

I wanted those shoes to last but first time I wore them, they got ripped. I doubt they will last long... The upper does not stay in place, it goes in the other direction, therefore the shoes look used while I only wore them two weeks since I got them

I have a pair in black that I love but when I ordered the red ones online, Salomon recommended going a 1/2 size smaller which I did. But when my new runners arrived, they were too small so I sent them back. But I do love my black hikers!!

I ordered a pair of patrol w size 9 along with this ones, i also own a 9.5 pair of wide predict hike ones. The width is perfect but for some reason this cannot be size 9 since the shoe is significantly longer than the aforementioned pairs. I also usually swap the sole inside for my orthotics but in this case i would have to stack it. I can only conclude these are sized wrong. Im likely returning them and maybe try ordering an 8.5, i dont entirely hate the shoe just what it has done for the shopping experience.

I received my X Ultra 4s in April 2023. In less than 2 months of moderate wear the soles had worn smooth and the ankle cushioning disintegrated. These were a replacement for another pair on which the same ankle cushioning wear had occurred within a matter months. Unfortunately because my original purchase was over 2 years ago, Salomon will not offer any warranty on this latest pair of shoes and seem to think it acceptable that a pair of 150 hiking shoes, last less than 2 months. If you're looking for a pair of shoes to wear to the supermarket for your weekly shop, these are comfortable (while they last) and look good, but if you what you need is for a quality hiking shoe that you can actually go hiking in, steer well clear. These are absolutely useless and not fit for purpose. Worst shoe ever and Salomon's response, not much better.

Overall I found them pretty comfortable, however I was very disappointed when I set out for a walk and it started to rain. In less than an hour I could feel my feet were soaking and water squelching inside. Surely these cannot be classed as waterproof if they cannot withstand rain.

Although the shoe itself is fine, the sizing is completely inappropriate.

I bought these recently and worn them on a few hikes. The right ankle/heel cushion feels like it's smashed a bit so I had to take the insole out to fit a little bit better. Because of the neoprene feel of the heel/ankle, the shoes slip and rub my heels so I got blisters each time I've worn them. I've worn expensive wool socks and cotton running socks with them and neither felt good. Super disappointing. I love my other Salomon shoes so specifically went for this brand. I also can't return them, which is obnoxious.

After a minute of walking the tongue goes to the side and is very uncomfortable. no mater how many times I would reposition it, it won't stay where it should. The design must be wrong. See the pictures and ware on the side of the tongue as is always rubbing against the shoe laces. I really like this shoes, they are super comfortable it's just this tongue so annoying.

I LOVED the Salomon X Ultra 3 Low GTX. Fabulous hiking shoe. Easy on/off, great feel on the trail. But after hundreds of miles they were wearing out. So I got these X Ultra 4. Oh my, like a totally different shoe. The worst part is that the tongue will not stay in place no matter what I did. It's got some sort of weird stretch fabric piece in the center above the tongue, which makes it harder to put on. I don't know if that's what causes the tongue to move or not. On the left foot the tongue scrunches down forming a painful fold at base of toes. On the right shoe the tongue moves way over to the right and is painful. They're going back. :(

The tongue on the shoes slip into the shoe so it is very uncomfortable to wear. The overall fit & comfort is great until the tongue slips and the laces cut into your foot

I wanted to love these shoes, as I have gone through three pairs of X Ultra 3s, which fit like a cushy cradle. Unfortunately, the X Ultra 4s are very different and are, for me, unwearable. They are very narrow and pinched at the arch -- painfully so -- and when I removed the insoles I could clearly see how much narrower they are than the Ultra 3s. There is also less cushioning everywhere: on the bottom (below the insole), on the tongue, and on the collar. The collar rises higher than on the X Ultra 3s, just exactly to the point of rubbing the ankle bone. And, finally, they are stiff and seem to have very little "give." I have bought and tested three sizes of these shoes with a variety of socks and have with reluctance concluded that I must look for different shoes. Salomon had a great, and very popular, shoe with the X Ultra 3, and it's disappointing to see what they have done with the 4s.

I had the womens x ultra 3 in wide but are now discontinued. I will not purchase any more womens Solomon shoes as it varies as to whether it indicates a "w" meaning womens, or "w" meaning wide. Not clear, and very confusing.

I have been wearing Salomon X Ultra 3 Gore-Tex hikers for years and am absolutely devastated that Salomon changed the style. The tongue doesn't work. The foam around the heal is useless for support. Why on earth did Salomon mess with such a well designed hiker. Salomon, please abandon this version of the X Ultra and go back to the earlier version!!!
