These shoes are sturdy and comfortable but after three weeks the eyelet snapped off which was disappointing because now I have return them :(

I've walked 100 miles in these shoes and surprised the footbed isn't more comfortable.
Over longer distances the transition between insole and shoe is noticeable . I'm in the wide fitting and my foot width isn't unusually wide.. it's just not narrow.
I have quality socks from Brasher too.
It's a shame. I was wanting to do some all day treks but I don't think the shoes will permit it due to the lack of comfort .
Previous purchase of other brand of quality shoe was supremely comfy . (Style not avaliable)
On short .. a hard interior , nice styling but disappointing . Not tested for waterproofing qualities yet.

Salomon is having trouble with sizing. So far, 10.5 W fit in one style, 10.5 M was way too long in another style (clown shoes!), and this one is 10.5 W, but is extremely loose, especially in the heel. What is going on with Salomon? I love the ones that fit my feet.

It's my first pair of goretex Salomon's and while the waterproofing capability is perfect, the design of this shoe is lacking. The collar of the show itself was raised from the last pair of x-ultras, and it rubbed TERRIBLY against my ankle bone. I was bruised for a week and it actually hurt to walk in them. I'm not sure if they're broken in finally or if I just stopped lacing them tightly. Also, as a lot of other reviews said- the tongue keeps slipping to the side. It makes it quite difficult to lace the shoes up and tuck the quick laces in. If these issues could be remedied it would be a fantastic shoe. I also ordered a pair of the non-waterproof x-ultra's so I'll find out about that soon.

These boots looked and fit great and the bottoms looked like they would have great ice traction...BUT...there is no lining covering the stitching inside the top of the toe box, so it felt very rough. The rest of the shoe is well-padded and seems very well made. But this small area of stitching rubbed very uncomfortably on the top of my feet, so the shoes didn't work for me.

Bought these 2 months ago. I love the comfort, grip, and support they have. Also true to their waterproof claim. However, after 2.5 months of use and about 120km of hiking on moderate and technical terrain mainly in the coastal mountains of Whistler, BC, Canada, The stitching on both boots on both sides of each foot, before the toe where most shoes bend has ripped.
The rips have ended their waterproof feature and each km since ripping caused further stitches to come loose. This is hopefully a manufacturer defect and I am currently trying to claim warranty. I can't find other reviews with the same issue so overall I'd say it's a great boot but perhaps not as durable as heavier and higher end boots. My issue might be a one off.
Great for weight and overall hiking needs but might be worth foregoing light weight for a more durable design if you are an advanced hiker.
I will update if Salomon does not cover under warranty. Otherwise an amazing hiking boot!

Like many of the other reviewers, I own the previous version X Ultra 3 GTX, and love them. They lasted me four years and the only reason I can't wear them is the padding isn't what it was and isn't suitable for long distance mileage, but the construction of the shoe is still outstanding. Ordering the same size in the Ultra 4 did not provide for the same fit. The shoe feels narrower just forward of the arch and when taking a step the shoe from the top of the laces bends uncomfortably in one piece, like the shoe is in a two pieces with the back and the top moving separately. I'm sad to return these because my husband and I have had great experiences with previous Salomons.

I bought these in February, and took ages to get them comfortable. (I kept my old shoes for long walks to avoid blisters.) Today I wore the X ultra 4 gore-tex shoes and got caught in the rain. Result? Soggy socks. I specified that the shoes had to be waterproof, when buying them, and thought that gore-tex should ensure this. Very disappointed in them.

These were unwearable for me because the folds in the tongue pressed down on the top of my foot when I tightened the shoe. I could not seem to tighten the shoe enough while I was hiking; the shoe always felt like it would slip off my foot. It was impossible to alleviate the pain on the top of my foot, while also achieving a comfortable fit, so I ultimately returned the shoe.
Also, I normally wear an 8 but had to get a 7.5, so the sizing was a bit off.

These are HUGE. I am normally a size 10 in salomon shoes, ordered this pair in a 10, and it's 0.75 inch too long in the toe (and I have long narrow feet!). The width was ok for me, so I reckon these are longer and narrower than people will expect for the listed size. In my case, I would exchange for a smaller size, but they don't have the color I like in that size anymore. I have an old pair of goretex salomon sneakers that I have loved to death, and want to replace, but struggling to find the same fit as that old model.

The sneaker is built well but the tongue always slip into the sneakers. Uncomfortable. Other than that the sneakers is well made and comfortable.

Nice shoe and I think the appropriate size would work, but painfully narrow and I didn't trust the very thin lacing. The inside had no seams, which was nice; but the fabric was not as smooth as I would like, felt like it could make blisters.

These shoes are the best Salomon's I've had yet. They hug my foot in all the right places, and unlike other quick lace pairs I've had, I can make them very tight without them cutting off the circulation to my toes. I'm just very upset that they run a half size too big, and since they don't have anymore pairs available, I'm stuck with an XL pair of shoes. I put in some heel pads that help a bit

Felt too tight, also fairly stiff. I prefer a more flexible hiking shoe.

I bought a size up and they were still a bit “short” in the toe. they also cut into my ankles despite the low cut.

They fit lovely, are very comfy but my socks get damp whilst walking in wet grass, As they are meant to be goretext I am disappointed.

This shoe has a very wide toe box. When I pulled the lacing the material bunched at the front - confirming it was too wide for me. Unfortunately they had to go back.

I really wanted these to fit but the strap that runs over the top of the foot hit my foot wrong. This made these uncomfortable when walking. Other than that I liked the fit and overall feel of the shoe. Didn’t get to use and I’m sure this would be a great hiker for some people.

I bought 1/2 size smaller from another vendor and those shoes were still too big. I had to watch a video to learn what to with laces once they were tightened. Also, replacing the laces seemed too complicated.

Unfortunately- they do run large. I wear 8.5 in hiking shoes due to wide feet. Toe box on these is great, but my foot slips out no matter how tight I make them. Super disappointing and huge waste of funds. There is no way I'll be able to do long treks in these, which means they are unusable.
The grip is still good. Super sticky rubber. My favorite part of a Salomon shoe.

I wish these came in Narrow. They only come in B width and the toe box is way too wide, even when laced up tight. I really want a waterproof hiking shoe and was disappointed these won't work.

Gee, almost! Beautiful shoe but my heal slipped a bit and my inside ankle bone rubbed on the top edge. Had to return. Wish they had worked for me because they are otherwise comfortable and so stylish.

The shoe seemed comfortable but the lacing system is not for me. I couldn't get the laces tight enough. Why mess with something that works? Regular shoe laces are 100 % customizable! The lacing system is not good. And what if it breaks?

First pair of Salomon's I bought was in 2020. Unbelievably comfortable but not cute. I still wear them but there's a small rip in the mesh and one of the laces is about to break (after 4 years I'd say that's a good shoe!). Now these are cute but NOT comfortable. I'm always a women's size 7. These basically latch onto your foot (with the new laces) and leave your toes and heels hangin. The insoles are NOT comfortable. Not sure if you'll last hiking in these for long? Unless you have a higher ankle bone? It's already digging into my inner ankle bone after 2 hours. In addition, I doubt I will get 4 years out of these shoes. SO disappointed! Why did you remove the comfort and quality?!!!
