I think Salomon makes the best light weight hiking boots. I've found there boots give great support, cushion and stability. If you like the previous model you'll find this one similar with some small differences in the feel.

My only nit pick is that you guys don't make most of your shoes in wide. So certain shoes like these are great but just a little snug

As many other people have found, this shoe has a material defect which causes separation at the crease near the tongue in the toe box. When this happened to mine I had a straight forward and fair warranty claim with Salomon.
Aside from this, these shoes offer fantastic support and feel.
My feet feel light, snug, articulate and supported, and I saunter around in these shoes knowing I have protection on the city streets and on intense trail.
The flexibility of the sole is notable, especially with the level of protection it provides.
I also love the quick lace system. Super reliable and easy to adjust. These are my daily driver for outdoors and city use.

Good product as always from Salomon the recommendation to go a size up was spot on. Only criticism i would have is the front tongue is not the bellows type and the tongue slips down when you put them on other than That as i say the usual quality and comfort from my umpteenth pair of Salomons.

My previous X Ultra 4 Wide Gore-Tex shoes have their tongues raised, tightly "sticking" to the two sides of the shoes, allowing me to put them on much easier. However, the new ones have their tongues loosely dropped, and I have to use my left hand to raise the tongue while using my right hand to hold the shoehorn before I can slide my foot into the shoe. This is very inconvenient. Did I "setup" my shoes incorrectly? In other words, did I stung the shoe laces incorrectly? Did I miss a step so that the tongue will be tightly "stick" to the two sides of the shoes?

It's a shame these shoes were extremely narrow, even for a hiking shoe. I love the look, heel support even for a low cut show and overall design. Beautiful shoe.
The really need to be offered in a 15...and a 15w at that for true perfect fit for me. Mildly short for a 14 (it's like a 13.5) but for me to wear a normal medium width shoe, I would have needed wider than what salamon calls wide (EE)

Odd width at mid section. Arch support for 12.5 is hitting in odd arch areas. With hot spots. I love this model in 12, but it is too small. 1/2 size up the shoe changes a lot. Insoles push the foot up to much to utilize the extra stabilizer’s. Really wanted to love these. Salomon has been slipping with quality as of late. Salwea is at a level of older Techina and Salomon’s. Thanks
I'd also recommend:
Salewa, Hoka ATR only, blundstone, Altria, Danner with insoles

This is my second time purchasing for my husband. He wears shoes out quickly. These last better than most.

Bought these a few weeks back and they are great. Waterproof, great snow traction and warmer than a traditional running shoe.

I purchased this shoe as a replacement to my X Ultra shoes which developed a fault. They have performed faultlessly up to now but there is one minor irritating problem, the tongue of the shoe goes into the bottom of the shoe when you put your foot into it! I have a bit of limited mobility and so cannot always get myself into a position that I can use a shoe horn and hold the tongue of the shoe at the same time! This was never a problem on the previous shoe and to overcome the problem I have had the tongue stitched to the upper layer above it and so this now no longer happens.

I had the X Ultra 3's. the changes you made for the version 4's make it difficult to put on. Now in my 60's, bending down to pull the rear tab and hold the tongue while putting on the shoe I'd difficult. The old 3's were step in and go. Wouldn't buy them again for that reason

I have been wearing size 10.5 in Salomon shoes for years. This pair seems to be rather large. I have to crank them as tight as possible and they still feel a little too big. Would like to try a half size down.
On a positive note, these are great winter shoes. Good grip on ice, waterproof and keep my feet warm and dry.

I bought these shoes and after 2 months they are working well. In the rainy wet grass of Scotland they did let in water but that may have been due to the height of the grass! They have kept the water out since. They look good and after a few wears they seem to be fully comfortable now.

Have never doubted Salomon for their trail shoes. Have used this shoe on Southwest Coastal path for training on my RatRace series. Found they had great traction in and out of water and kept you fairly dry. I would not recommend them as trail running shoe as they slowed me down too much, hence I've now ordered the new sense ride. For trail walking however a superb shoe.

Have had the boots for about 6 weeks or so, been using for hillwalking and long dog walks. Extremely comfortable. I struggle getting boots to fit, so the wide fit is a godsend. Another plus point is that they are not made in China. Only downside is that the insoles aren't fit for purpose, the rubber at the heal has worn away and I'll now have to find replacement insoles.

I struggle to write reviews about anything, but thought I would give this a shot.
I base my purchases on the reviews alone, and it doesn't matter if there are 100 good reviews, I am always hunting for that bad review to put me off.
This shoe has lots of reviews, and for me, I personally think they are extremely comfortable, one of the best shoes I've bought and I own a mixture of Levis, Nike, Northface, Mammut, Timberland. I didnt find them narrow at all, and wearing them for 2 hours, I didn't get any achy feet, or any blisters they were really snug. At one point I had to look down if I had any shoes on.
I am not someone that goes out for major walks, but I do go to the woods on different terrains, walking over rocks, and to be honest I haven't had a problem with them at all.
I would try them out if you are concerned.

You could like these, even if you don't like me. Took them on a walkabout in Hawaii. . No, that's not a flex. The skies opened up, thankful for the gortex. Feet stayed dry and the traction was gripping. it didn't matter how much the skies were dripping. I didn't need to make this review rhyme, but I did anyway. I'd suggest this shoe for any kind of day. #bars

Bought these shoes to start walking/hiking in, but they're so comfortable that I now wear them to work for my longer shifts. They are on the narrow side.

Superb grip on all terrains, the easy lace system is very handy and works well. The only issue I have is they're quite uncomfortable around the top of my big toes, I've not had any blisters yet but the tops of my feet have been quite sore for the next day day or two after a long walk. I've put in about 100 miles in them in the past 6 weeks and they have eased off a little. The Gore-Tex is fantastic of course and the shoe its self is nice and flexible on uneven terrain. I wear Gore-Tex gaiters with them and its a great combination.

I got these shoes for Christmas and on the whole they are very solid, supportive and comfortable. However, I have found that the outside ankle seams are high for me so it is taking a little time to wear them in. The rating will probably go up to a full five stars once they are worn in.

I bought these a few months ago for winter walking and running. They are a pretty tight fit to start but loosened up a bit and are very comfortable. Grip in snow and ice is consistent and predictable. I like them a lot so far. I have about 8-10 other pairs of Solomon shoes all with the quick lace system. These are my second or third favorite pair.

Bought these a month ago for our upstate New York/Adirondack winter.
The only fault I would complain about is the padding around ankle bones are a little to hi and the ride on the ankle bones to much even after they are worn in.
Other than that they are a good shoe!!!

I am very happy with these shoes. They run a little bit larger than my other Solomon shoes so I would recommend a half size smaller.
