I really like these shoes. I run 45-50 miles each week. I ran a 50k in the Sonoran desert couple months ago with no problems to my feet. The terrain I run is dry, mostly rocky, some dirt, and lots of climbs and downhill of the Franklin Mountains.

These are great all a round trail runners for the dry/buffed out trails of Utah. I'm on my second pair of these. My first pair made it to mile 260 and the the toebox blew out like some of the other reviews noted. I am a huge fan of these shoes. They're lightweight, provide a great lockdown feel, and are responsive. I recently brought these on a trip to Austria and they served as my one shoe quiver for a month. They handled, concrete ,gravel, mud, and scree very well. The issues with the clicking toes is real but goes away after about 20 miles of break in. I don't find this to be an issue because the sound of running usually drowns out this noise. I only noticed this "clicking" while walking.

Right out of the box these shoes are true performers... shock absorbing soles are very effective. No breaking in necessary Great experience !

After about 50 miles on these I'm a fan. More protection than the Sense 3 and better stability. I would use a little more robust shoe for super rocky trails, but this shoe gets its done on most terrain.

I purchased these after a rather disappointing experience with my s/lab Ultra 3 shoes (sole durability) just to save my other more pricey shoes from a premature wear. I planned to use them for dirt/gravel road running. I have ankles stability issues after multiple poorly treated injuries in my youth and was kind of apprehensive of the, comparing to the older s/lab lineup, higher heel stack. To my surprise though this does not seem to be a big issue with these shoes and I am able to use them for moderately technical mountain trails as well. They fit my narrow heels and moderately wide mid and forefoot quite well even if the heel retention is not quite as secure as with the, let's say, Sense 8 shoes but probably pretty close to my old Sense PRO 3's. The durability of both the top material and the soles seems to be very good with no excessive wear after some 300 km if any appreciable wear at all. Sizing is consistent with the majority of the Salomon shoes. I would call them multipurpose shoes. They don't shine in any particular area but do everything pretty well. The only thing that I am a bit uncertain of are the webbing loops the laces are running through. This same design had failed on my Sense Pro 3 and the S/lab Cross shoes. However, so far so good. Bottom line, they have been a very pleasant surprise for me so far.

Great shoes and great quality from Solomon! Love the one pull laces. I wear an orthotic and with that, it was ever so slightly on the snug side, but just barely so.

I love this shoe! It's been my personal favorite trail shoe since I got my first Sense Ride 2 a few years ago. Covers any terrain, even road. The tread will ware out quick if you stick mostly to road so I would stick to the trails if I were you. I don't use these for my really challenging vertical climbing days but it's my go to shoe for general training. The only down side for me was when they changed the fit slightly from my last pair. My size 12 no longer fits me and I can't return on a pro-deal. Still top class and I'll be rocking them all summer

I had the original Sense Ride [no number] and they were solid and unremarkable, decent trainers, nothing to complain or swoon about. I got version 4 as a replacement, did a few short training runs, and packed these for a shakeout run the day before a 50-miler. My packing was cut short and I left behind my main racing pair... so ended up using these. Had expected problems with... insufficient cushioning, fit, chafing, blisters, slow drying, laces too tight, laces too loose... none of these materialized! and I finished the 50-miler in a great for me time, with happy not-very-tired feet, no blisters, and didn't have to adjust the laces at all! The shoes themselves were almost as new afterwards, and my recovery was not in any way hindered. Congratulations on nailing the product! sadly it may cannibalize some of Salomon's higher-end models... but I'm sure there are ways to improve these, too... It seems that what makes the most difference compared with Sense Ride [no number] is the collar around the ankle. It gives rise to a cradling fit that also doesn't let much dirt/dust through into the shoe. The amount of cushioning is just enough for most of West Coast USA for runs up to 50 km duration, and sometimes you can even get away with a 50-miler!

I bought these shoes for trail running! (Exclamation point intended) Salomon has done the smart thing and made these a little longer than the traditional fit and for good reason. You want a full thumb's width of space so your toes don't rub going downhill. This is the way they are supposed to be. I have the Sense Ride 2 (or something like that) and they are shorter, look good, but non functional for actual trail running. If you want these as a casual / coffee shop shoe, then size down a half or full. Hope this helps clear the air on why they are longer.

I am on my 4th or 5th pair of these perfect trail runners. Every generation seems to get slightly better without losing the Sense Ride "feel". They work great on 90% of the trails I run here in Southwest Colorado. They are not at their best in mud...but neither am I. But on dry rocky trails or with Yak Trax on snow or on the occasional stretch of pavement they are great! Keep making them and I'll keep buying them.

I don't usually post reviews on anything, but I felt compelled to balance all of the negative reviews. In short, these shoes are the best I have ever owned, of any category, including dress shoes. I'm a former AT through hiker and Mountaineer. I spent almost 10 years in some of the highest places on earth. I walked thousands of miles and went through a lot of shoes during training. All of that finally took it's toll, not to mention the fact I finally turned 50. I've had four knee surgeries in two years and pretty much had to stop doing everything. As a result of the surgeries and Covid, I got lazy and gained almost 100 pounds. Over the last six months I have been buying and returning shoe after shoe trying to find "the one." I have always liked the Salomon brand and the Ultra mid boot I bought five years ago is still my go to for backpacking. For the first time in many months, my knees are feeling better and it's time to get my butt back in shape. I read all of the reviews on all of the trail hikers and chose to ignore the negativity of the Sense Ride 4. I realize that shoe fit and comfort are very subjective and no one has the same feet, but these are literally designed for me. The balance is perfect, the weight is perfect, I have not experienced any clicking or tearing as described by others, and I bought a half size bigger so I have plenty of room in the toe box. In the two months since I got my first pair, I have put well over 100 miles on different terrain. They are absolutely the most comfortable and forgiving shoe I have ever owned. No foot fatigue, no blisters, no funny twisting, just pure bliss when I walk. I'm actually motivated to walk again. Since I received my first pair, I have purchased two more colors, and change them out so they all wear evenly. I have even managed to lose 20 pounds in two months. I'm not saying a shoe will make you lose weight, but a great shoe will make you less hesitant to get outside. Well done Salomon.

I run in a lot of different Salomon shoes from Lab Cross to XA to Ultra Glide to Sense Ride. No one shoe is ideal for a four season trail runner, so options are key and the right shoe for the job on the day increases the satisfaction of every run. The Sense Ride is the workhorse in my arsenal. It is ideal for 75% of my runs on light to moderate trails in dry to damp conditions. It just strikes the right balance for me between protection and responsiveness. This is a nimble shoe and if you are a midfoot striker I don't think Salomon makes a better shoe for the money. And most days we don't need any more shoe than this.

My first Trail Shoe. And what a Shoe it is. Completed my first night Trail race at Delamere - couldn't fault these shoes!! Ran through mud, up and down hills. Super impressed by the support, grip and feel. Felt different using the lace system. But had no issues with it!!

The Sense Ride 4's have been my favorite running shoe this year. I got them on a whim and have been very impressed. The have become my go-to ATV running shoes and daily them along my local trails which can be 50/50 hilly singletrack full of rocks and roots and mix pavement. At this point, they're the only running shoe I take when I travel because I'm confident I can run 10 miles on dirt just as comfortably as 10 miles on pavement. I went a half size up and have been happy with the foot. Stay snug on the heel but open a little in the tow box and keeps my toes from smashing on long or steep descents.

Has been my goto trail running shoes in the past 3 years. Good room in the toe box for wider feet. Easy to break in and feels like it's been consistent in every version that has been release.

I love the Sense Ride series as a good value shoe for training. Handles road and trail equally well, and I was completely happy with the shoes during a 26 mile training run that was predominantly on pavement. The fit is comfortable, but not as snug as some other Salomon models. All my shoes are a 10, but I would consider ordering a 9.5 next time.

I've used these bikes for hiking, trail running, and Spartan races, and I can confidently say that they will keep your feet comfortable and protected at all times. They are incredibly comfortable, and have great grip for any type of terrain that you may encounter going up and down the trail. If you're getting into trail running, it is the best option. True to size

I have run on the beach and in the desert scape and the shoe has performed with comfort right out of the box. The shoe got wet while on the beach and it continued to fit well throughout my three runs. The desert scape runs in Central Oregon is were the shoe shines. The shoe gives great traction and grip over rocks and in loose gravel and sand. The shoe is light and comfortable and I am pleased that my orthotics fit with out issue.

Love at first site, but these really came thru! Absolutely Love the Speed Lace, now I’m spoiled. At the gym I remove my Running Shoes and preform a quick switch out and do all my weight training in these so comfy and feel so secure and leg work on smith machine. Wanna buy another pair just for going out cause they look so sharp!

The Sense ride shoe has been my go-to shoe for years. It's by far the best shoe for folks that run from trail to road or vis versus. Among most, this shoe is comfortable and holds up to 600+ miles!
