I like the fit and the comfort a lot, and I have two pairs: one is (supposedly) waterproof, and the other one not. That's because my feet get really hot in water proof boots, so I wanted a pair to wear in warmer weather (40 degrees plus) so I wouldn't have to constantly take the boots off and air out my feet. If it was warm and wet, well, too bad for me, but at least I could hike when cold and wet - or so I thought. But it turns out the "all weather" are not water proof. They are in some places and not others. The medial side of my right foot is soaked through to the skin, but the other side is okay. Either this is shoddy placement of the lining, or it is not actually water proof to begin with. So what does "all weather" mean then? They should fully disclose. I still like my light blue ones that are not claimed to be weather proof. But now I'm out the money I spent for hiking in the snow.

I have worn Altra for years. After waiting months for the Lone Peak All Weather boot I had to return them. The fabric made a loud noise while walking. I loved the boot's fit. I want quiet when I am hiking and not to hear a thunking noise with each step

Although they are extremely comfortable, they do not hold up and are not all weather. They seemed to be somewhat waterproof initially but not after a few hikes and they are falling apart. I contacted the company who told me that it was normal wear and tear and they would not replace themoffering only a 15 percent discount. I'm extremely disappointed because boots this expensive should last much longer and the company should stand behind their products.

Do not buy these shoes. Tip of boot started disintegrating after I wore boots two times and Altra gave me a hard time about honoring warranty. The boots are otherwise extremely comfortable and the fit is fantastic.

I have had such a difficult time finding hiking boots that do not hurt my feet. Numbness, inflamed neuromas foot surgeries etc No break in period necessary. Have worn them in the winter and summer with comfort. One backpacking trip required that they stay wet for days due to hiking up canyons with high water. The lower portion does stay dry but if you submerge them in water to the laces you will have wet feet not a problem for me if I'm wearing Darn Tough brand socks. But now I am planning on going to Torres del Paine and really need a study waterproof boot. Hard to find zero drop, wide toe box, narrow heel in a hard core hiking boot. Spec never even list a drop measurement. Basically the only shoes I wear are Altras for many years now. Altras have allowed me to do the things I love to do!

First off go up half a size if you wear thick socks with your boots or if you like them to be a little more roomy. The 9 fit perfect with semi thick socks but the 9.5 fit better since the inside has the waterproof lining the 1/2 size makes up for the space lost due to the liner.
I'm usually an 9 in Altra sneakers.
These are so comfy right out of the box!!! It's like walking with clouds on your feets!

I've had mine for years, and love them. I read reviews here saying the 'all weather' feature was not working well on newer models, and spoke to your representative who said you were doing a redesign. Is that completed and how is it working?
(Thanks for making the old ones work great in the many streams I've crossed in them.)

I had a spinal cord injury at age 15 and still have some paralysis in hips and lower legs, feet. I love to hike, perhaps because I learned that there are many things one should never take for granted. These have been the best, most comfortable boots I've ever worn in the 40 years since my injury. They help with stability and balance and are so comfortable. They are going strong after a year. Thank you, Altra.

This is my first Altra shoe. I have very weak ankles and gave up on trail running. These protect my ankles and no blisters for 20 miles right out of the box!!

I wanted trail shoes with ankle support and these work perfectly! I've used them to hike and also with my snowshoes and they gave me just the right support. I can't wait to use them when the snow melts!

I love my Lone Peak mid top shoes. They are perfect for my long trail hikes. I would suggest a little more cushion. I have only walked a couple of 5 mile hikes in these shoes but this is my second pair. I had an issue with the construction of my first pair, but this pair is high quality construction. I have several pairs of Altra shoes and have never had a issue with the quality of any of the others. Also I have recommended these mid hikers to friends and they are extremely happy with them.

As an avid hiker I've always struggled with boots. I get blisters extremely easily and my feet always hurt a few miles in. I just bought these last week and went on an 11 mile hike. Not one blister and my feet didn't hurt at all. I sized up .5 size because I go on long hikes and my feet swell a bit. I'm sure I could've fit in my normal size but I know I'll be grateful for the extra room when I'm on the trail this summer. Highly recommend these boots. Although, I am curious how long they'll hold up.

As with all my Altra shoes/boots, I ordered a half size up, and it works well. I use hiking weight socks in the Winter. With the wide toe box, a Medium works well too. The boots have been great in the Mid-Atlantic US winter with rain, wind and some light snow/ice so far. The shoestrings are slippery and come untied, but a double knot takes care of that. I believe they are worth the cost for me to have one pair, but I did pause! :-)

I hike trails all seasons and was looking for a lightweight boot that was waterproof and had extra space for my toes. So many shoe and boot companies have toe wells that are too narrow which do not allow your toes to spread apart naturally when weighted. The Altra Lone Peak shoe has a wide toe well, yet the rest of the shoe hugs my feet giving them a very custom fit .
After six weeks of using them I am already planning on buying another pair !!

I use this for winter hiking and for hilly trails for ankle support. I love these shoes as I do not have foot pain that I have with other narrow toes shoes.

I wear them at the beach, walking in the surf, and my feet stay dry. Hiking, they've got a good grip when climbing boulders. Everywhere else too.
I just wish Altra made sandals and dress shoes too.
I haven't had them long enough to see how well they age though.

Great boot for our daily hikes on hilly terrain. Great toe box width for Morton's Neuroma issues. Very comfortable. Since these are my cold weather boots, I went up a half size for thick socks.

This is my go-to shoe for light winter and heavy spring weather on mountain trails. If you need the zero-drop heel and the wide toe box in wet conditions and/or light snow, this is the one. Extremely comfortable, great grip.

I love these hiking boots. All the other boots I've ever had squish my toes a bit, especially on long hikes down. These are perfect. I don't think I could ever go back to anything else. I sized up a half size for the perfect fit.

This is my first pair of Altra brand shoes. I had never found hiking shoes that I really liked. They either gave me blisters, were too rigid, or didn't feel comfortable enough for a long hike. I purchased these specifically for my hiking trip on the Inca Trail in Peru after a coworker recommended them and a ton of research. The last thing I needed on a 4-day hike were blisters on day 1. They were comfortable right out of the box and the flexibility was perfect for the variable terrain - think stone, gravel, mud and extreme uphill and downhill climbing. The break-in period was pretty much nonexistent and I really appreciate the wider toe box for my Fred Flintstone feet. I wasn't hiking in pouring rain or in water, but these were still dry after a 2-hour stretch in pretty sticky mud. The only negative thing I have to say about these is that there were signs of some wear and tear at one of the seams by the end of the trip. However, I still give these 5 stars because these boots earned a lifetime Altra customer and I will recommend them over and over. A bad pair of boots would have made my trip miserable, but these made my experience the trip of a lifetime.
