I wanted to love these shoes because they are otherwise SO comfortable but they don't accommodate my tailor's bunion (also known as a bunionette.) They need are too "straight" and rectangular but they need a bigger toe box area. I tried a size 8 and they were too big so I was slipping around and felt like I had clown shoes one. So I sized down to a 7.5 and they hurt and rub against my bunionette. If you don't have bunionettes, this could be a great shoe for you though!

I love this shoe! I have been wearing Altra shoes for many years & this is the most comfortable one I have ever worn! I don't have any foot issues & wear these for fast walking, but from the moment I put them on they were comfortable & no rubbing on my skinny heel. The reason they didn't get 5 stars is because I spot washed them yesterday & the bright orange bled through the fabric, so they are now clean, but a raspberry color around the lace area. I didn't even touch the back portion, but I now have a somewhat tie dye looking pair of sneakers. My next pair will be black. Hopefully Altra will address the issue since I love having white sneakers, especially in the summmer!

Big Torin and Escalante fan for road shoes. These do feel like a crossover but there's just something missing. Toe box is slightly narrower than what I'd like from Altra but didn't mind it for shorter runs. Long runs are another story. Ran a 4x4x48 in these and my feet look and feel like I stuffed them into a pair of Nikes. I have super narrow feet for the record. Would also love more gender neutral color options. I don't know what about me being a female runner who lives for the trails, wears scrapes and bruises like a badge, and always has dirt under my nails makes it seem like I would want or need bright color options to feel feminine? I'd apply that feedback to the entire Altra women's range right now too. Your shoes should rep the kind of women who wear them. With that said I only run in Altra's and would like to keep it that way so... in summary - miss all the things that in my opinion made this brand one of a kind. Don't lose sight of what you do best x

I usually buy the Escalante but tried this new style because of the color. I had to buy a half size larger. I would have rated it 5 stars, but the laces were too short.

The cushion is great but it's too small for my non European foot. The length was perfect but my foot felt quite tight in the shoe (130lb, 5'4"). Wearing for about 15 minutes around the house had my feet heating up already. The heel also popped a tiny bit; the shoe would definitely fall off but the heel didn't stay on my foot. Probably not for me but I'm sure they're a lot more comfortable for people with narrow feet.

These are a big improvement on the Provision 4s I made the mistake of buying last year. They're lightweight and comfortable but don't feel too fluffy/cheap. The width is really nice; it's hard to find shoes that fit my narrow feet that don't slide in the heel but still have room in the toebox. I guess my feet being narrow means the shoelace length is perfect for me (they don't drag on the ground!) My only wish is for a few better color options--something not so day-glo but more than black. Maybe charcoal grey with colorful accents, or colorful accents on the black.

Walking shoes for me. There is not enough support for my feet, they are moving around when I walk. I do LOVE the shape of the shoe ( it's shaped like a human foot) and gives my big toes a break from crashing into all the shoes that are pointed . I have yet to see any feet that are pointed like most other shoes ! I will probably keep these.

Great shoe for gym, shorter runs, speed work. The only suggestion I would make is shoes laces need to be longer. If you wanted to do the "runners tie" there is not alot shoe lace left. Maybe doing a gusseted tongue would be great for keeping it in place. Otherwise, its a great shoe! Nice work.

The width borders on too narrow for me and is frustrating as I switched to Altra for their wider women's zero-drop shoes. The shoe is light with not too much cushion which appeals to me. I prefer a minimal shoe.

Love everything about these shoes. They're a nice sweet spot in between my Escalante's & my Torin Plush's. The ONLY thing is the laces are way too short. I had to buy laces elsewhere.

I've never worn Altras before these, but a friend swears by them so I finally decided to give them a try. Great gym shoes and cuter than some other Altra's I've seen! 4 stars because the laces are too short, but it's easy enough to swap them out for other laces.

These shoes run small and narrow but the fabric seems flexible enough to tolerate unlike many other shoes I tried. I have a narrow heel so I'm glad this shoe doesn't slip up & down on that area because I have Achilles Heel. The toe box is roomy and feels comfortable. I will probably keep these shoes because they fit better than lower quality higher priced NB shoes I tried and have better quality fabric than Asics shoes that I like. They are the most comfortable of all shoes I tried so far so I bought another pair in a different color & style today. They feel better with Powerstep Bridge insoles (sold here) because I have PF! I like the breathable light weight fabric and turquoise color that doesn't make my feet look bigger.

I usually run in the escalantes, but I wanted more cushion. I waited too long to try Torin 4s, and Torin 5 got bad reviews, so I gave the Rivieras a shot. First, the sizing is completely different than the escalantes; I had to buy a 9 in the Rivieras (considered a 9.5 but was worried about heel slipping). Compared to the escalante, the fit is different and not ideal for me. The toe box feels narrower; on long runs it rubs on my toes. In addition, the foot strike feels different. I have a morton's neuroma on my left foot, which is fine in my escalantes normally (even on long runs). However, between the toe box being narrow and the strike; my neuroma ends up getting scrunched and striked on. It flared up after running in these shoes. Overall, they had more cushion than the escalante, but the tradeoffs of small toebox and different foot strike were not worth it to me.

This shoe was recommended to me because I am just starting out jogging and I have a wide foot. Love the look of this shoe, it is light, the color is beautiful, and the toe area is nice and roomy. The reviews recommended ordering a half size up - glad I did, otherwise the toe would be too short! Reviews also said that the tongue is too narrow - it is. Not sure I would order the Riveria again. But if you have a narrow instep, I would go for it.

Tried to find alternate to the Altra Torin shoe that’s always out of stock in my size. This one doesn’t have lower heel placement of natural foot standing on the floor like my Altra Torin’s I’ve grown to love. They have your heels lifted up at a higher angle more like traditional running shoes which creates ankle issues for me. Sadly had to return.

I normally wear a women's 11 or 11.5, but got a 12 in these. Even so, they feel a bit small, with not enough width in the toe box. It's a relatively cute style for a "foot-shaped" shoe, and I get compliments on the aqua color. But they're uncomfortable enough that I can only wear them for a couple of hours before my feet start to hurt. Disappointed in these.

This is my 6th pair of Altra shoes but definitely not my favorite. They squeak! And I really hate the orange color, it looks worse in person than in the pic. My favorite are the all-white Escalante, which they apparently no longer carry, and I bought these because they were the most white. I love the wide toebox and the zero last, but I am disappointed with the choice of colors. Please bring back all white! Also, brand-new shoes shouldn't squeak; that's a sign of poor workmanship.

Love these for the comfort on a long days work. Not happy at all that the neon orange bled onto the white. I would think Rivera could fix this issue. Probably won't purchase again as I will only wear white tennis shoes. This photo was after I tried to clean up the faded color.

Very comfortable shoe right from the start. I like this model better than the escalante. I have a little more support. I'm just annoyed the color bled when they got wet.

I purchased 2 pairs (burgundy and black) 6 months ago. They are great shoes and holding up nicely (run less than 20 miles/week). I wanted a replacement pair and ordered the teal in the same size (9). When I put them on for a run, they were definitely not the same size! They might be mismarked or made at a different factory but I'm pretty disappointed there is such a huge discrepancy for sizing with different colors in the same style. The teal is about 1/2-1 size smaller than they are marked. I still love this shoe and it is my go-to for all runs (speed, hills, long).

I have had other ultra sneakers on these just did not cut it. I ordered my usual size which is actually a half size up from what I normally wear and found them to be short in the toe. My big toe was actually touching the front of the sneaker when I walked. They also did not feel as cushiony soft as my old Altras did. so sadly they are being returned

I used to love Torins but their newer models are not working for me. So I tried Escalante and Rivera hoping one would work. I’m keeping the minimal Escalante but ordering some inserts for more support. The Rivera didn’t jive for me. The black is super cute. Altra appreciate that your shoes are getting better looking. But the Rivera runs small in length, the toe box is not as wide as other Altras, and it’s just too much shoe (too much upper cushion, sole etc). I just like to be closer to the earth. I’m returning.
Side note: I was looking for a new gym/road shoe to replace Torin. I still LOVE my Altra Lone Peak for the trails. Highly recommend them. Yup, Zero technology rocks my boat in all my activities. Thanks Altra and Zappos!

Very disappointed. They seem cheaply made compared to other brands (Brooks, etc.). They were cushy, but didn't feel remotely supportive. The toe box was completely different than the Escalante - it's much more narrow - not the Altra "foot shape" at all. Although they felt too snug in the upper portion of the shoe, the heel was too roomy. I felt like my heel was going to pop out of the shoe even when I tied very tightly. Sadly, I had to return them.
