Yes, these boots are soooo comfortable. Yes, lots of room for happy toes. Yes, nice and toasty in the cold. At the same time, yes, they are noisy, plastic feeling, and creepy in that respect. Feels like I'm getting ready to muck out the barn, not go for a hike.

hiking/jogging i guess the narrower last sells to more people; though a wide option, even at an appropriately higher price, would keep me buying altra shoes

I love the fit and styling but after only 2 hikes the toe is starting to separate from the upper.

I use the product as a daily work boot, in the law enforcement field. After only two wears, both boots began, and continue to separate at the tip of the toe where the sole meets the body of the boot.

Ok I love my altra lone peak 4's in mesh. They fit perfectly. The wide toe box and mesh upper make them more comfortable than my slippers. The wide tread at the heel make the 4 wide comfortable and stable. Now the new altra all wthr is a different shoe. First it has an eVent liner instead of mesh so I knew it was going to be stiffer and tighter. The problem is that Altra decided to make the new lone peak narrower very very noticeable. It's like they decided only tall thin people with skinny feet should test out this model. I don't get it the wide toe box and wider show in general is why we buy these shoes. If I wanted skinny shoes there are a milllion other brands. It's like the shoe designers rendered the shoes in 3D then said they look funny and shaved off 3-4mm to make them look better to corporate. If you have skinny feet these shoes will fit fine if you love the old lone peaks these will feel too tight and you will be disappointed. Aside from that they do keep my feet dry but not warm. They are zero drop so my back loves them. I ended up using a shoe horn to stretch them out and now they feel much better although the sides of my feet bulge out more than normal. Hopefully, the guys that designed the originals read this and can overrule the corporate new hires who say the shoe looks funny and won't sell. They will sell make them wider and they will selll better. Also diversify your testing pool beyond the MPY crowd.

I bought these shoes to be waterproof for work. The morning dew of clients lawns is enough to soak these through. The shoes are not remotely waterproof and do not dry quickly. Very dissatisfied.

ive had these for almost a year now and ive got nearly 70 miles on them. I started wearing them on asphalt while training. I balame that for tearing up the sole so quickly. The noise noted in other reviews is spot on, but will go away with time so no complaints there. my biggest issue, is i got these to be waterproof. At the very least keep my feet dry when stepping in a puddle while on the trail. They have never done that since brand new. I recently went on a backpacking trip and had wet feet nearly the whole time because they are not very breathable and they let in all the water without letting it back out. This shoe needs some redesign and either no claim to be waterproof or find a better membrane to make them waterproof.

I only use these boots during my 3 mile cycling commute in upstate NY. They have lasted about 4 months, being used for approximately 40 minutes a day in mixed conditions and the waterproofing is gone. The build quality and comfort are all good, but when you spend extra money on boots that are advertised waterproof, you expect just that.

I LOVED THESE. These were my favorite hikers until my feet got wet. Bought in March 2021, no longer waterproof in Dec 2021. Would love to try another pair, but most likely not worth it. Laces are also garbage. Broke after only a couple months of use. Altra would not send new laces, so I had to buy new ones.

Two months in and waterproofing is not effective (not sure it ever was). They don't breathe well enough to wear them for more than a few hours. I pretty much have to dry them out after any use. Tread is slippery on wet surfaces and there is no traction in the tip of the toe so I slip at the end of every stride. They are comfortable for hiking on soft surfaces in cold, dry weather... but that is pretty much their only use case. Disappointed and back in the market for a all weather shoe.

Got these for this coming winter, but I might be looking at other options. While these feel good to stand in when walking the top layer of material bunches together, make a loud crinkle sound, and pinches the top of my foot. I thought maybe I was wearing the wrong size but after trying it down a half size I discovered it's just the way the shoe was designed. I can't walk more than a few hundred feet before my feet hurt from the material bunching and pinching the tops of my feet. I was really want to leave something positive but these are a poor design.

I got a version of these a couple of years ago (2020) when they were called the Lone Peak Mid 4 RSM (for Rain/Snow/Mud, i believe). Altra seems to keep changing their naming system for newer iterations of certain shoes; not sure the the current version is effectively the "5" or if there was a version in between. My shoes are comfortable enough, and the fit is good (my usual US 11.5 is fine with a light/midweight sock). I wear them with a set of Sole brand insoles; plenty of room f or those. They still had the gaiter attachment ring at the bottom of the lace run and the velcro attachment point at the back of the heel area. Looks like the new(er) version omits those. Boo. The problems outweigh the good, though. I've really only worn them for local, neighborhood daily walks, and occasional, non-demanding woods walks for maybe a couple of hundred miles, and the somewhat stiff outer material is already developing cracks on top where the foot bends across the forefoot. And, when i wore them in a light rain, even when they were almost new, the top of my foot got wet after only about 2030 minutes. If a waterproof shoe isn't waterproof, what's the point? I love the wide-toebox fit of the Lone Peaks, but these kinds of basic performance and durability failures have me looking elsewhere now for my hiking footwear.

Well …. Unfortunately I just returned these. This is my second pair of alta shoes. I bought the others a few weeks back and wanted a weather proof shoe for work. The 1st pair (separate style) I was hooked even though they are ugly. They Helped with my lower back, and knee pain. I have tried every shoe and these were great for all day walking or standing. The only issue I have with the pair I just returned was below the laces a separate material runs across it. Since I have wide feet this created a huge pinch point where my foot became numb after having them on awhile. My 1st pair does not have this. I would recommend altra shoes 100% even though they are ugly as heck but if you have wide feet stay away from this style.

This is a great, comfortable, all weather hiker sure. My issue is the traction on rocks is extremely poor, especially in wet conditions. In our 4 person trip this weekend, I was the only one slipping and sliding. I first noticed this while walking on wet sidewalks. IMO the rubber used for the soles is too hard. I wish they had the standard running shoe soles.

I have been wearing altras for years, however, I was in need of a waterproof boot. I have had the lone peak boots before, however; this boot runs very narrow in the toe box compared to lone peaks I have worn before. What happened Altra? Bring back the wide toe box! These hurt my tailor bunions, even though their other lone peaks (wider) do not. I will be returning these.

This shoe is much tighter across the instep and narrower across the toes than the boot that was recently discontinued. I'm very disappointed.

Loved my previous Lone Peak trail runners, so for an upcoming hiking trip into cold/wet climates, I decided to try the Lone Peak All-WTHR. To break them in, I hiked in them a few times prior to the trip and loved how comfortable they were. Unfortunately, the first time I stepped into a puddle on the trip, my feet got wet :-( The boot seems to have a design flaw by which the protective outer layer of the boot rubs through the softer inner layer right where the boot bends at the big toe when taking a step. After only a few hikes, the rubbing causes the waterproof layer to fail there.

I love just about everything about these ,EXCEPT the craftsmanship. The eyelets have stretched out and the front lip of the shoes have torn open. They have "stitching on them" yet they are not stitched in to anything. I have less than 100 miles on them (30 miles on trail). They would be 5 stars except they fall apart too easily. My buddy has the exact pair and has the same problems.

Great looking shoe, but the toe box is too narrow. I buy altra because I have wide and semi flat feet. These were not as wide as my Olympus 4, or regular lone peak shoes.
