(Lone Peak Hiker shoe, black and white) Best hiking shoe ever! : Nice toe room (width wise), Good ankle support, good traction, form fitting boot(I use a shoe horn to get them on). I love them! They are so light and comfortable!! Worth all the money. Nicest shoe I have ever owned. They could have a little higher arches for my arch support and the white strip that is around the shoe is hard to keep clean. (I gave it only a 4 star because everything always has room for improvement)

Altra shoes are great for the issues I have with my feet and legs. Ive have bought at least ten pair in the past 3 years. They help me with balance and stability. Their downfall is the poor quality of the material they use for the insoles and soles of the shoes. The inserts become paper thin. Altra does not off insole replacements by them selves. new the soles have conservative cushioning that quickly collapses. will i buy more? without a doubt. Other features of the shoes out weigh the problem with the quality of the soles.

The shoe has promise and provided some good use. But after 5 months hiking in and around Steamboat, the top material developed holes. Warranty did not cover.

The toe box is nice and square with plenty of room for my toes. Thank you.. However, the mid section of the boot is too narrow. I special ordered the Hiker boot, but will be returning it for the regular Lone Peak that comes in a wide. This one is not made in a wide size. I use these for hiking.

Use for day hikes and long walks - not my first pair of Lone Peaks - I was warned by customer service of sizing - got my regular 11 1/2 - with heavy socks they are OK but annoyed by sizing inconsistencies !

Shoe is good not as good as lone peak 3.5 which I've had for years. The material is of lesser quality and the color is not near kaki. Comfortable so far we will see how they wear.

Please put a full length Vibram outsole on ALL your trail shoes (like you did on the KingMT) and you have a winner. The junk that is slapped on the Lone Peak is a disgrace. This comes from me ... a buyer since version one ... but you are losing me.

I own two previous iterations of Lone Peak mids, maybe 3.0 and 4.5. Not totally sure of the version. Both pair are great, and are wide enough. However I am finally wearing them out. I also own Lone peak trail shoe in the 5.0 Wide, and they fit great. So it's time for a new pair of the mids. Sadly, I had to return them because there was no lateral give where my little toes are. They felt too tight on the side next to little toe. Hopefully there will be a Wide version of the mids at some point, or at least the removal of that unstrectable little bit of material that would not allow my little toes to expand to the sides. Thanks for this opportunity to give my opinion.

I bought my first pair of Lone Peaks two years ago. I was in LOVE. They lasted and lasted and I even fought a fire in them. I tried to find the same ones to replace them everywhere. On eBay, Amazon and any site that might have them as that particular model was no longer available. A few weeks ago I finally broke down and bought the latest version. They are OK and I am glad to have them, but I do not expect them to hold up like the previous version and they do not have the same support. Even after a few weeks they look worn. I have tried other zero drop boots and these are the best I can find. I put a different arch insole in them and they are fine, but man I wish they had no messed with the original style. They were great. I called and emailed the company repeated but I got a form type email that just said that they were no longer available. Others have complained about the quality not being as good, -- What to say. I am an online merchant and usually do not leave reviews that are not complimentary. Again, these are the best I can find in this type of boot, so whatever .....

I love Altras for zero drop and the toe box. The lone peaks have the right amount of cushion for a comfortable fit and a solid ground feel and stability. However, I just can't seem to get these boots as tight enough or my foot locked down into them. At about the mid-section my foot isn't locked into the show enough and I've experienced rolling in the midfoot area on uneven hiking terrain. I attribute this to the lacing. Everything else is great but this is a big knock. The upper has been durable and the comfort great. It has almost everything I love about the lonepeaks. I just can't lock them down enough for a serious hike. I took these out to Yosemite and Sequoia. They mostly rocked it, but I didn't feel totally confident in the really uneven terrain.

These boots are very hard to put on. I almost have to pull the laces off the top two eyelets. Should have hooks on top two positions.

I was looking for a lighter weight hiking boot/shoe with ankle support, and tried these in men's and women's sizes. Women's were probably a better width for me, but the way that the tongue is attached on both the men's and women's styles makes the mid-foot area too tight across the top of my foot. Men's was close, but not quite there. I felt like if I was hiking all day and my feet swelled at all, I'd be uncomfortable in that area. I will say the padding underfoot felt great, and I still love Altra's zero drop style and lightweight construction. So close!

I have been wearing Altra's for a number of years. With just a few exceptions, the fit has been exceptionally good. Buying 1/2 half size up from my true street shoe size gives me room for my custom orthotics. However, I would like to find a shoe with a little more rigidity in the sole and less cushiony. Even the shoes described as Moderate are a little too soft, IMHO.

The shoe fit well, as I was looking for a lite hi top trail runner. What I didn't like was not enough inner sole cushioning. I could feel the bottom treads through the shoe. I was glad when I found a company that manufactures zero drop shoes, as I own and older pair of Lone Peaks and Timps which are worn out but still feel great. I've tried 3 different pairs of Altras in the past month hopeful to find a replacement. No such luck. If the shoe fits wear it and don't change a good thing. Not all feet are the same.

Great shoe, but why is there no Gator trap or stoneguard on this. I prefer the regular Lone Peak but was hoping this would be a good alternative for rougher trails.

These are basically the high top version of the Lone Peak 5, with some small tweaks in construction. Similar to the Lone Peak 5s that I wore, these are really cushy and comfortable, but the durability leaves a lot to be desired. I find it outrageous for shoes at this price point to be marketed for trail running when they wear out so quickly when being treated nicely. I work in a grocery store and they spent the majority of their time on my feet driving to/from work and walking on smooth floor in a climate controlled building. Yet in only 5 months, (I got them this past April) the sole tread had worn down and smoothed so much it became unsafe to wear them.
I'd also recommend:
Merrell, Rocky, Vibram Fivefingers, going unshod

I used them mostly for day-to-day walking, working an office job and the occasional off-road hike. They're comfortable and seem nicely made, but the loop on the back of mine tore out. It was made from a faux leather material that is too light. Warranty support was very slow to respond and classified the tear out as wear and tear. I bought them in March and they have seen 0 abuse. Kind of frustrating to have to go repair the strap myself. No offer of even a discount to replace them or $$ to fix the defective loop. I'd also say - while the shoes are comfy, if I used them for hiking, the uppers are such a soft material that I think they'd damage easily..

I like the boots, but used them for maybe 20 miles of dry desert hiking and the stitching began to fail. I've submitted a warrantee request twice and I've not even gotten so much as a confirmation that it's been received (it's been more than 2 months now). I spent a pretty penny on these to have them fail within the first few uses :(

Been wearing Altras for years. But I no longer wear them for hiking or running but rather for casual use only. Why? Because they simply don't last or provide the comfort I need. Lone peaks are one of my favorite shoes so I was excited to receive my hikers but was extremely disappointed at how narrow the shoe was. Shoes felt extremely uncomfortable. They seem well made compared to the older versions. Immediately sent them back. Might need to upgrade to the Olympus 4's. Currently rocking the Ultraventures on the trail. Amazing shoe. Altra needs to get on that level of comfort and performance.

This boot is a big downgrade from the Mid Mesh. No drain ports to let water out, rubberized material near the sole holds water in, no front attachment point for gaiters and the lacing system is bad - can't tighten fully because of the add on leather loops. Not a good long distance backpacking boot. Sad, because the Mid Mesh was the best all-round backpacking footwear I've had in 30+ years.

I used these on the first six days on a three week backpacking trip in the Eastern Sierra. I had blisters and sore heels by day two. I broke these in properly, prior to my trip. The heels loosened up causing slipping in the heel. The soles and foot beds are very thin. I wish I used my trail runners from the start of the trip!

Great fit. Very comfortable. Not very sturdy at all and the top is very flimsy. Netting material on the top seems very cheap and seems like it will wear quickly. These shoes also came already work before… there was tiny bits of mud on the bottom, and some abrasions on each shoe. Obviously worn before.
