Former minimalist runner here who had enough rocks stabs through my Minimus. Therefore, I bought these for their 0 drop and rock protection. I've used them for a month now on the rooted trails of Maine and the muddy slipways of Guatemala. Really couldn't be more happy with them. Easy to maintain my cadence but without the fear of rocking jabbing through. One thing to note, I bought my size (11), but it had too much room at the end of the toe, so I went a half size down and it fits very well. This coming from a guy who's feet have never been called small in my life.

I have wore brooks for year and swore I'd never buy another brand of shoes. These Altras have definitely changed my mind, so far so good my favorite pair of running/cycling shoes to date. Thank you for making a good product

I have very flat feet and a torn tendon in my left foot, so finding comfortable shoes was almost impossible. That is until I found Altra MEN'S LONE PEAK 5 in wide width. I am now walking 2 miles a day with no pain at all. I love these shoes.

I love trail running. I feel right at home on dirt and rock. However, due to a nagging knee problem, I haven't been running much at all. My wife recommend Altra shoes, solely for the cushioned support, and quickly I became a big fan of the fit. I love the wide toe boxbeing able to comfortably spread my toes outand the cushioned spring in the step is a huge relief to my bad knee. I couldn't wait to try them out on the trail. I'm a off the beaten path kind of guy and prefer technical trails. Much like my favorite mountain bike tire, the Lone Peak 5 gives me the traction I look for when running on trails with roots, rocks, and ruts. And they are oh so light weight and stable. Needless to say, I'm back to running, I'm an Altra fan for life, and I couldn't be happier with the Lone Peak 5 trail shoe.

I have to go to a 9 in Nike but was able to stay 8.5 with these. I am in them ALL DAY w/ my job and they are PERFECT! Just enough cushion and NO pinch/rubbing points but holds my foot perfect at heal. Some Nike pushes in on my Achilles which has caused me some major issues. These DO NOT. I LOVE the wide toes so they never feel hot or squeezed. Since I am on my feet a lot they will swell as the day/heat goes by and these NEVER feel too tight. The material also keeps me cooler. AND THE COLOR/STYLE is super nice. They look nice for work but I also will be trail and track walking. THANK YOU FINALLY for finding us this American girls feet a great shoe.

As much as I loved my standard hiking boots, on longer hikes they would shred the soles of my feet. I no longer have this problem with my new Altras.

Been wearing Altra Torins for several years. A couple of years ago, I developed some health conditions that caused swelling in my feet and lower legs. I had a paid of Torin 3s that still fit, because I went up one size, but were very worn. After trying a few different models, with no luck, Altra came out with the Lone Peak 5 in wide. These fit great! It's been hard to find anything in a 14 Wide, by anyone. This wide model ads enough volume across the top for my feet. I'll definitely by these again. Now I hope they start making wides in at least one other color. Like maybe the khaki one? The Blue/Lime, which is mostly dark gray, is fine. But a lighter color would be nice too.

I have struggled to find a shoe that didn't make my feet ache after 30 minutes of running. Until the Lone Peak, I would try wides in other brands, but my Barney Rubble feet would rub in weird spots or not hit the footbed correctly. I usually wear flip-flops when I don't have to wear shoes because they are the only things that are comfortable. The moment I put these on my feet felt relieved. They could finally spread out naturally. My first run in these was an hour loop on a local trail and it was the first time in a long time that my feet didn't feel cramped or tingly at the end of a run. You keep making these and I will keep buying them.

I run mostly on trails and some fire roads. My first Altra experience was the Lone Peak 4 and it fit perfectly. The 4.5... not so much, I had to return them as they were just too tight across the arch. The LP5 is a home run for me. Ever so slightly longer but with the same great traction and trail feel. Plus more responsive cushioning. I hope they don't change.

It's been my experience over a lifetime of running that when I find a shoe I like and the company comes out with an "improved" version I end up disappointed. Not the case here. I always liked these shoes but found they fell apart rather quickly. These seem to be better constructed and are every bit as comfortable.

Sadly the size 9 is too small. But Customer Service is superb and are sending a half size up. Hopefully they will fit.

Excellent footware. Just bought my 3rd pair. They are very comfortable and have lasted quite well. I have used them mainly for walking and each pair has lasted over 600 miles. The support is mild, yet enough and the toe box is roomy.

I don't really write reviews, that's how impressed I was. I've been a New Balance guy for ever, simply because they were one of very few who could fit my feet. I wear Red Wing boots, because according to them my foot is an "H" width (huge?). The Altra Lone Peak 5 in wide fits my duck foot perfectly. Here's the best part though, we recently spent some time hiking mountains in Tennessee and the shoe felt great all day long. This was hiking and climbing gnarly rugged trails and shoe felt amazing. The grip is as close to spiderman quality as you'll get, they breathe well so no foot sweat and the neutral plane of the foot bed is very nice. **Altra** start making the wide available in other colors and shoes PLEASE! You'll have a customer for life. Awesome job, keep up the great work.

I have gone through 4 different shoes, tried them sent them back. This shoe is great. My toes, my heal all comfy and supported. Thank You Altria! I was recommended to this shoe on a 9 mile jaunt through the wilderness preserve by a random passerby. While picking cactus out of my backside (I tripped into a cactus when trying to find a shortcut home). The random bike rider directed us to the trail branch and than of course we talked shoes, I am glad we did I LOVE this shoe.

These are the best walking/hiking shoes I have ever owned. I walk 4-6 miles a day, mostly pavement but some regular hiking as well. These shoes are amazing. They're so comfortable. It almost feels like you're wearing an open toe sandal. Its very different; I've never felt a shoe like this. I look forward to putting these on in the morning. I haven't written a review in years, but I wanted to write one here because I like these shoes that much. I hope you guys do not stop making these as I will be buying them for the rest of my life. They're that good. Also I ordered directly from this site and my experience was great. I received my shoes the next day with standard free delivery. This is probably not typical. I'm sure I just happen to live close to the distribution point. Well done Altra. I have been on the fence with these for a few years. I've seen all of the great reviews from through hikers. I wish I would have bought them sooner.

I love Altra Shoes. I have had 6-7 pairs of both road running and trail running shoes. Lone Peak has been my favorite Trail Shoe. It is comfortable, good traction, fairly light (but with some cushion).

Bought one pair of these in 9 wide. I now have a pair of shoes I can work outside in (Landscaping) all day long. The Zero Drop with the thick sole = no foot pain at all. I now have two pairs of the exact same shoes since no other models or colors are available in the 9 wide. Did not know I could walk with out foot pain again!!!! Please make more in the 9 Wide Zero Drop!!!! I was able to go with a pair of the RIVERA's (which means I now have three pairs of shoes I can wear without pain - 2 lone peak 5's and the RIVERA model) because the mesh stretches enough to fit OK, But a 9 wide would feel better.

Finally, Altra is making a wide width shoe! I had been wearing Altra shoes for years until the last couple when their shoes kept getting ever more narrow. I have a size 15 wide foot and the original Altra shoes were perfect for me. The Lone Peak 5 in wide width is the first shoe I have found from Altra in years that fits similar to their original shoes. When I compared the width to an old pair of Torin 2.5 the width was almost the same. I hope that Altra starts making more styles and sizes available in a wide width.

I have had Lone Peak's in version 4, 4.5 and now 5.0. These are the best so far. Super comfortable on a 6 mile hike. I like that the toe guard is stitched into place.
