This is my "do it all" trail shoe. Enough cushion for most of my running, light, amazing traction and the shoe looks great after 100s of miles of use.

I have a hard to fit foot but the 12 wide fits great. Shoe looks great and performs well for exercise and every day usage.

These shoes are great! I think that this is what walking on the streets of heaven feels like ( without all of that annoying harp music) The zero drop combined with the wide tow box is especially helpful for me when on downhills. The wide toe box allows my toes to spread out making my footing feel more secure. I have been told that the mileage is not great, but that may be from people who use them a lot on pavement I will be back for more.

After trying several different styles and brands looking for relief from plantar fasciitis and metatarsalgia, I finally found these! The difference is amazing! I can now get though the day pain free!

Incredibly comfortable. Amazing how it feels so cushioned but also very responsive. Once I bought a pair of Hoka Bondi 6 and the cushion felt like running through quick sand. No return bounce at all and made it feel like I had to put extra work in. Perfect neutral trail shoe, feels good on the road too!

Haven't hiked since I was a kid. Back at it & needed new kicks. Settled on the lone peak 5. Most comfortable shoe I own. Breathable, light, quick drying, good traction! Love them!

I rarely write reviews on shoes. I have had foot problems my entire life and always found it difficult to get properly fitted shoes to fit the toe box. I am a size women's 11 1/2 WW but always found the men's shoe size 10 WW to have a more generous fit in the toe box. I've tried all of the "wide" shoe brands out there. I found New Balance 2E or 4E to be the only ones close enough in the width, however they tend to be too wide all over and also they slip in the heel. I did try Altra 10+ years ago when they first came out. They advertised that they run wide and even though they had a foot shape design they were still not wide enough in the toe box. ALTRA this year finally came out with a WIDE version of their shoes. I have to say that so far they are absolutely PERFECT! I bought the men's size because they are more generous than the women's wide and they fit perfect! Like slippers! I bought the Lone Peak wide a few months ago. Last week they came out with the Torin 5 in the wide and I purchased those too. I'm not a runner or a hiker but I plan to use these shoes for short walks while camping and for walking around town. Thank you Altra for making your shoes a true wide and keeping the foot shape. They are wide enough in the toe box but snug in the heel!

Used my Timp 3's on a recent 40 mile backpack into the Emigrant Wilderness (Stanislaus National Forest). Rock solid on rough and rocky terrain and super comfy. Love these shoes!

Every shoes in the market has it flaws I get that and looking for the right one is a bit harder too and I get that. Now though I don't have to look any farther I found Altra Company. In my case I have a wide feet and lone peak accommodate my feet without any problem whatsoever. I am just glad there is a shoe maker that actually cater my shoe problem and I thankful each in everyday. To those of you that are having a problem I am sorry this shoes is not for everyone and I am sorry for that. One thing I do know this group of guys from altra is trying to so hard to bring the best shoes for all of us I do appreciate these guys and I will continue buying lone peaks for life. PS. I owned 5 LP's and will buy more.

I've run just over 100 miles in this shoe and it is holding up very nicely. Very comfortable shoe. Ran a half with no issues. Hope this design stays.

Bottom line do it! You won't regret this purchase. These LP's have just a baby bit larger midsole and toebox but to date are my favorite Altra's. I've owned multiple pairs of every trail shoe other than the Olympus and have put about 5k miles in Altra shoes over the past 3 yearsthese, as many others, are winners!

These are amazing. I wouldn’t say that I have all wide feet but my toes are spread at the toe box, and often times i feel like most shoes cram my toes together vs. working with my natural anatomy. I walk or hike daily and these provide much needed support and comfort after twisting my ankle quite badly in an old pair of Asics. I was so tired of trying to find the right shoes for me and a coworker recommended these. In terms of looks, these are so stylish. I feel like I can wear them pretty much anywhere snd be in comfort. The zero drop took some getting used to but after about 50 miles in them I’m noticing the difference. My knees hurt less because there is so much more stability. My one and only complaint is that there isn’t a ton of cushioning—but it doesn’t really bother me much. Maybe if I went for a longer hike I would purchase some inserts, but so far so good. Also for longer hikes Im sticking with my Keen Targhee II. So glad I found these.

This shoe turned me on to Altra. I've since gone on to purchase many more Altras. I find this shoe has the perfect amount of cushion without sacrificing feel for the trail. I use it for 2 hour hikes. I have picky feet. Not an ounce of pain after my hikes. Thank you, Altra!

As a woman's size 11-12, I often turn to men's shoes. This is the exact same size and fit as a woman's 12. Same GENEROUS WONDERFUL SQUARE toe box. Thank you altra. I'm going to try a half size down to make sure I have the right fit. THANK YOU Zappos for your patience so I can fit my horribly fussy feet.

These shoes are great for hiking! They are low weight and help prevent blisters, which is usually an issue for me. I pair them with Darn Tough Socks and the results speak for themselves!

Out of the box on Tuesday afternoon, the Lone Peak 5s comfortably carried me through a three-day, 30-mile hike on the Ice Age Trail that commenced the following morning. Despite temps in the upper 80s and low 90s, my feet never once sang in harmony with the rest of my overheated body. Better yet, not one blister did I suffer during this hike that broke in these new shoes. And unlike the Lone Peak 4.5s they replaced, the 5s never once gnawed on my Achilees tendons. Call me a happy hiker.

Being size 16, I have limited options. Living in Park City with trails and rocks and all sorts of varying weather/traction, I am completely impressed by these shoes. I wore them to a physical therapy appointment, and the owner of the facility raved about Altra shoes and wears them himself. They are super light, yet somehow cushioned enough to be comfy, yet also let you feel the ground surface with great traction. It's a paradox that you can get comfort, foot-feel, and light weight. Also, I think they look great. I have worn them every day since getting them. Will get my wife some and myself at least one more pair so I can rotate.
