These shoes have been extremely comfortable right out of the box. I've been hiking in very rocky trail conditions and all day city walking. In both situations I've felt full foot support, no rubbing , no hot spots. These shoes have definitely become my go to shoe for anything ( actually bought a second pair right away)

Shoes felt great . I have a size 16 shoes and my body weight feels properly balanced, not just in the heals of the shoe.

I bought 2 pairs of these shoes and use them to trail run. I bought the extra pair to wear around town since they look great. I've occasionally used my Altras to run on the road because they are incredibly comfortable. I was shocked and happy to find the shoes. They have subtle styling and have given me great performance as well. Highly recommend due to the wider tow- box and comfort.

Diagnosed by podiatrist with hypermobile body type with high arches resulting in nerve damage/pain under ball of foot - she recommended SOLE insoles combined with rigid running shoes with wide toe box - Topo and Altra were the specific brands. Also recommended Birks for their arch support. Just combined the SOLE insoles with these Altras and already very pleased.
I'd also recommend:
Birkenstocks. Lems.

I wore five pair on my 2,650 mile thru hike of the PCT and couldn't be happier with the performance of the shoes under those conditions. In all weathers; and for all day long my Altra Lone Peak's never let me down. I've recently purchased two additional pair for daily wear. That's seven pair in six months. Hey Altra, how about a sponsorship or at least an early go at the Lone Peak 6?!
In all seriousness, if a zero drop shoe works with your feet and hiking style, go and pick up a pair of Altras.

I used a pair of the Lone Peak 5s on a 300 mile backpacking trip through the Sierra Nevada and they did great! I had no blisters and no foot issues. I'm usually a size 9.5 in Altras and wore 9.5 in these shoes. I have a wide foot, but thought the Regular width was perfect. My toes have room to spread. The size 9.5 worked well for me on trail and for approx 15-20 miles of off-trail usage. If I had significant off-trail travel planned, I would consider sizing down to a 9 just for a more secure fit.
As a backpacking shoe, they held up well. The uppers dried quickly when wet, breathed reasonably well, were comfortable, and had no rips/tears/delaminations. I really like the heel cup, especially its lack of a rigid heel counter. All trail runners in the Altra lineup should follow suit. The midsole cushioning lasts longer than on other shoes I have used. I think it's the perfect amount of cushioning and stiffness - enough to keep my feet happy and protected, but not too much so that you have no ground feel.
The only real negative is that the outsole tread wears down a little fast. I'm on my 2nd pair now, and the life of both pairs will be around 350 miles (granted, I use these shoes in very rocky terrain). If the tread lasted longer, the midsole and upper could probably last for 500 miles. The shoes have good traction, so maybe a Lone Peak with a Vibram Megagrip outsole? Otherwise, these have replaced my Topo trail runners and are the most comfortable backpacking shoes I've ever used.

Hello, I love your shoes for hiking and everyday use. My work requires me to wear black shoes. If you could make an all-black series I would be happy all-around.
Thank you

I have been a fan of Altra Lone Peak for years. The 5.0 is a huge improvement. Great support and cushion for pavement. I walked 9 miles through urban hills and no foot pain.

I decided to give these shoes a try after seeing all the raves about it online. I'd first ordered a regular width because some said it was already plenty wide. For me that was not the case and I had to return the shoes in the color I wanted for the single color option available in a wide. That made all the difference. These shoes are great. I'm not a trail runner but have walked about 60 miles in these. All the miles are on dirt and the shoes show no wear at all.
Were I to improve them I'd wish for a more secure heel fit. My other wish would be for them to cost less

I'm a professional boat Captain in the Caribbean and spend all day for 9 months barefoot, I already had wid feet before this and have always struggled with hiking shoes/boots. In my off season all I want to do is camp and hike, but I have always struggled with the range if my hike because the rest of my body was ready to go but after 4 or 5 miles of hiking my feet felt like they were on fire. Found out later that is is Norton's neuroma (nerve getting pinched between foot bones) I don't have this problem standing all day barefoot on a hard boat deck. Then I tried the superiors and they increased my range dramatically but offer very little protection(still wear them around just not hiking anymore) because the lone peak 5s now come in wide and I'm doing 12miles in the Smokey's like it was nothing. Now weird insoles or pads under the balls of my feet, just room to splay. Keep the wide sizes and you have a customer for life. They are to expensive and the stupid little stitching they were so proud of on the toe comes loose after 20 miles but my feet don't care. They are happy! More wide colors!!!!

This is my second pair, these are great on the trail or on the road, running or walking. I have mostly used them for hiking, but am a past marathon and ultra-trail runner, and these are great!

I've been running in Altras (King MTs for OCR and Olympuses for trainers) for trail running for a few years now but always wished they were slightly wider. After I got a pair of wide Torins at a local shoe store and they fit wonderfully I poked around the site to see if any trail runners came in wide. Grabbed a pair of Lone Peaks in wide immediately. They're a great middle ground between the light race style of the King MTs and the ultra padded Olympuses. They're also actually wide and don't pinch my feet at all! Keep expanding the wide selection please.

These are great. Tries the Lone Peak when the first pair wore out and switched back to these. Strangely, the Lone Peaks were true to size and these appear to run a half size small - I had to bump up a half size over the Lone Peak. Anyway, for a relatively tall shoe I think these have great stability. The comfort is the best I've tried. No info yet on longevity for the new model but seems sturdy.

I bought my first pair of Altra's for hiking a couple of years ago but they were too nice and comfortable to hike in, so I wore them day to day. I bought the Lone Peak 5 for day to day use and now use my previous pair for hiking. There're the most comfortable pair of shoes I've ever owned. I have a wide foot and Altra is one of a very few hiking shoe companies to offer wide hiking shoes.

I have one pair that are true to width and size and one pair that are about a 1/2 size too small, so I got a 1/2 size larger. I love them!

Love these shoes the wide toe box and zero drop really feels like it receives the pressure on my feet that my previous running shoes had. Love them a lot

Why do people with wide feet get one color choice only? and it happens to be my least favorite color. I bought 12.5 wide. I have neuromas and 5e width and This shoe fits me better than any I've ever worn. I love everything about them except the color. Please offer wides in more colors!
