For us who have very wide feet, these shoes are excellent.
The feet feel very comfortable.
I recommend them in races of 5 to 40 kilometers.

Love the shoe. It is roomier than the Torin. I ordered the wide this go-around but will revert to the medium for the next pair.

I walk/run 5 mi. every day in a field along the Tennessee river, rain/shine, 90s or 40s, in grass or on a dirt path, Lone Peak 5 is a great shoe! I have lower back and hip problems, am 68 years old and these are the most comfortable and best fitting shoes I have ever owned. I've had (4) pair of LP 4s and am on my 2nd pair of LP 5s, Thanks for a great product.

After finding these shoes I am a long term customer. The first shoe I've found that my toes can all lay flat. Thank you!

I purchased a size 13 which is the same size I purchased for my Lone Peak 4.5s. Fit was very good. These shoes are an improvement over the Lone Peak 4.5 IMO. Plenty of room in the toe box but a little more cushion without losing the feel for the ground. Have not tested these on slippery rock which is critical for me, living in the Pacific Northwest, but will update the review once I learn more the grip.

I use these for hiking, between 8-14 mile hikes with good elevation gain on mostly dry southern California trails. I've long struggled with wide feet and finally found relief with Topo Athletics, and more recently with Altras. My feet are widest at the ball of my feet, so the extra width toebox needs to extend to that area. These Lonepeaks do just that, giving me great comfort for my whole foot.

Have read reviews about these being to small or such. I normally wear a size 11 in other brands, and these were dead on for size. I have been doing barefoot for awhile and my feet are pretty wide now from that, and they fit perfectly for width. I added some elastic lock laces instead of the normal ones and they work great on these. There was a little bit of a break-in period, but it was not bad as I wore them into the woods and around the yard and didn't do anything big with them for 2 weeks or so. With them being 0 drop they are much better for my feel, and they have plenty of protection against rocks.

Try finding a Size 12 Wide width athletic shoe that fits feet of which I would not post a photo. Those are mine and for the first time, I have those shoes. My son bought me the first pair, my wife the second. When they turned out to be so splendidly comfortable she bought me a third pair just in case! So, happy customer but, and it's a small but not insignificant "but": they are all blue/lime. I'd love to have something different, more colorful. It appears everything but blue/lime is permanently out of stock. Please say you'll be making more and not in the next version because next versions always come with some tweak that make them less wonderful than their predecessors! Thanks if you've read this far. You really have improved my life.

Shoe is comfortable and fits well, the only complaint I have is that my right foot tends to pronate while wearing this shoe. It has not been a problem in the past with other shoes but it could be my form as I have changed it recently.

First Altras I had were 4.5,comfortable right out of the box. Same with these 5.0 lone peaks. Put them on and walked 3 miles in new shoes with no problems no hot spots felt, felt like my old ones. Good shoes not pretty shoes . But if you gotta walk or hike a lot use these puppy’s

Ran in Superior for 3 years. The 4's were my least favorite- felt right and not as roomy. Stepped into the Lone Peak 5, took my first trail run (6 miles) in them and was sold. Hands down have been the best trail shoe I've had.

The product has not come apart like others I have bought.
No problems with the first pair, and the new pair is good also.

A great shoe for those struggling with forefoot issues such as mortons neuroma or capsulitis. My podiatrist recommended these shoes.

I love the flexibility and EGO midsole of the Lone Peak 5! The Chevron tread pattern is great for secure traction. The tread is also softer and grippier in wet conditions than the MaxTrac compound used on other Altra models that I have. The durability seems to be great so far but I'm only at 85 miles on them, so time will tell. My only problem with them is that they are a little too long and too wide. With having an available wide option, there should be no reason for the standard width to be too wide. This wide sloppy fit through the midfoot creates some instability at times compared to my other Altra trail shoes. Stacking a second insole from another pair of Altra shoes helps some with the excessive volume of the shoe, but it increases the instability and makes the heel more insecure. I'll try a size smaller next time and hope that my toes don't get destroyed.

I added elevation to my training program. I did not have trail shoes at that point. I started running on the trails in my Altra Escalantes and was slipping everywhere since they are road shoes. I decided to add the Lone Peak to my Altra Collection and they are great. I have run about 30 miles in them and I am not slipping on the trails anymore, so far. The platform feels great since I am used to 0 drop. Laces are a bit short since I always lace to the back hole on the shoe. Still feels like a 5 star shoe for me!

I have run 3 technical trail marathons, 1 trail 50k and a Cirque race in these shoes this summer. They are proven performers, and inspite of feeling "big" they are the only shoe I don't lose toenails while running in I bought my normal shoe size and will likely not size-down with the next pair of LP5's I get

These shoes are perfect for my current situation. I am 70. I have been a runner most of my life, and a hiker more recently. Heredity and wearing bad shoes produced horrible hammertoes and bunions on my feet. Seven weeks ago, I had surgery on both feet. I wore post-op velcro boots until 3 days ago. I transitioned to these Lone Peak 5s in one day. My feet are still swollen, and will be for months, but these shoes are very comfortable. The toe box is very ample for my swollen feet. I am very pleased and will be ordering a second pair.

I've been wearing Lone Peaks since the LP 3 and am a big fan. They are my go-to shoe for thru hiking. I've put on about 4,000 miles over the past few years. My only complaint is the lack of durability. Toe flaps failing, holes blown in the sides, etc. Despite this I continue to chose the LP time and time again.

I love the design of the shoe & the fit! The toe box area is very roomy and It let my toes to splay during my run. The shoe is awesome in the wet too as it holds traction very well.
