The shoes are comfortable, but the shoelaces are somewhat short and might work better if they're the flatter type. I use a replacement insole because the ones provided are too thin and don't provide adequate support.

I have owned all of the nova rainbow mountain shoes and they have been great. The rainbow mountain 3 seems to have a different sole and it makes the shoes very slippery on hard surfaces like wood floors or vinyl floors. The previous 2 versions were not like this. P

I purchased these because I really liked the Nova 2 Rainbow. The Night Sky oddly fit slightly differently (bigger, for the same size/width), so I didn't feel as confident on some trails as I did in the Rainbow. I'm not sure whether it was a slightly different model of shoe (thus a different fit), but it did negatively impact my impression since I was expecting a similar fit as with the Rainbow.
That said, this pair does perform comparably...good grip, relatively lightweight, breathable.

These were very comfortable and I love the coloring but the original inserts were definitly an issue right off the bat. They would'nt stay put and slide backwards up the shoe and rubbed against the backs of my ankles. I replaced those with some different ones and it improved a lot. Another issue I had with them is that the eyelets on one shoe tore one after another. I work indoors and these shoes have little to no stress on them and it's definitely odd that those wore out so fast and I didn't think I would need to get another pair of shoes in the same year for sure.

Moving on to these from Merrell sneakers with less drop. Took a little bit to get used to, but happy over all. They're definitely a little bulkier than what I had and the insole on one shoe keeps sliding back and needs constant adjustment. Color is more denim like than I was hoping as well. Would definitely have rated higher if the insole didn't slide.

I've owned three pairs of these and I really like these shoes. I wear them out commuting and every day use but I think the color choices are terrible. Right now you can boulder, black and some other black shoe that isn't called black plus an olive drab, a dark navy blue, white color and there's also rainbow color. What happened to the gray? Gray was and is my go to. If the shoe company stops making grays and just has three different black shoes I'm not buying shoes from that company anymore.

Inferior arch support compared to my other Merrell running shoes. Tongue is not stabilized.

The Nova 2 is a comfortable shoe with little to no break-in time, however there is a major flaw with the exterior bottom sole. They are very slippery on a wet surface. I would advise NOT using them if your trail contains rock surfaces that are over 4-5" in size and wet. This is NOT a good combination despite the Vibram sole material.

Always looking for a comfortable pair of walking shoes for trails or street. Purchased a size 15. They look good and felt true to size. I have a narrow foot, but standard width is not too wide. Ankle collar padding within shoe is a bit bulky, but beats those shoes that have little to none. The biggest issue is the midsole. I'm 6'8", and in these shoes I'm gaining at least a half an inch in height. Maybe more. When you are tall, you don't need more height, and I may return these because of it. It's just difficult to find decent shoes that fit. So if you are really tall, you may find this lift annoying. If you are a big footed hobbit, as they all are, then this shoe would be perfect to take walks through The Shire.

The shoes look and feed great. My issue is that the sole is already tearing away from the shoe. Only worn twice.

The colors are great and the fit is good. I have just one problem the right shoe squeaks/creaks every time I take a step.

This is my second pair Nova 2. I typically prefer a minimalist shoe like the Trail Glove, but they always seems to be sold out.
I've had unhelpful interactions with customer service, they even told me to try a different shoe brand because they were unwilling to work with me to find a solution to my issue. That said, with a 100 miler coming up, I went with a shoe that I was already familiar with.
I'm taking recommendations for other minimalist shoe brands.

Over 150 miles in on trails and Disc Golfing. Grip is great, never have to worry about slipping. The upper and low are unscathed, still looking good.
The only issue is comfort is lacking. Feet are sore after about 5 miles where my Columbia Montrail were good for about 20 at a time.

This is a normal width size but seems much wider than past purchases. One of the original inserts was slipping towards the heal and away from the toe. Merrell provided me with thicker kinetic inserts which improved the fit dramatically. Seems lately all the new styles are too wide for me. Use to be my absolute favorite shoe but lately all styles have been too wide and shoes does not stay securely tied like past Merrell purchases

First off I have been wearing Merrell shoes for over a decade and will continue to do so. The problem I found with the Nova 2 is the quality of construction on the upper portion of the shoe lacing area that was unfinished on the last lace holes. The shoe is nice and light and but the finish was not up to the Merrell quality I am used to on their other models.

I like the rocker sole, but despite being a wide width shoe, it is not near as wide as my wide Moabs, so the Nova 2 pinches my Tailors Bunion. I found the Wide Altra Lone Peak to have a roomier toe box which is more to my liking. Darn it, I had high hopes for this one.

They leaked. Gortex failed. Rain got into the shows and wet my feet. Only complaint I have. Premium price should equal premium performance. Long time Merrell shoe buyer. Disappointed with these

I bought these about a month ago. Although they are nice looking i am disappointed in the comfort of the shoe. The Zion FST's are definitely comfortable and sturdier.

Giving it 3 stars because of it's durability and traction. To start I am a size 13. As for the size it does fit a little big. It felt like it was in between a regular and a wide fit. I'm a postal worker so we do quite a bit of walking. I do anywhere from 17000-19000 steps per day.
I know that's above average but again I'm in them for roughly about 9 hours a day. 1 month after use I'd need a second pair. I felt that the comfort/cushioning is gone. However keep in mind it is a lot of walking and I'm also pushing about 240lbs not including the satchel and additional 20-40 pounds of mail and flyers.
With that being said if you're doing occasional hiking all in all it's a good shoe.

Love the lightweight feel, the breathability and the grip but 3 day hikes in the shoe has started to tear at the mesh lining.
