I was really looking forward to the next gen trail gloves but reading these reviews...what happened? This is supposed to be a no sole shoe, and you go and stick in arch support? I'm also a fan of colors; I.e. shades of red. I'm going to wait to you get your act together. Glad I have 3 TG5s.

Finally got to use these and am very disappointed. After a few hours of wearing them if felt like an old worn-out shoe. No cushion or support. The Moab Adventure Lace I purchased with it is an awesome shoe.

I ordered the shoes online. The process took a lot longer than expected. I presently own Merrell boots and gym shoes. They are great. However, the two pair of Oakbrook purchased, were regrettably uncomfortable. This does not make them a bad shoe, they just didn't fit and I am in the process returning them.

I love the shoe and fit however, after one week the center shoelace loop detached.

The middle sole is too hard. The laces are easy to loose almost everyday.

Absolutely not waterproof. I just wore them in the rain walking in a 5k and my feet were soaking wet.

Having worn Merrell Trail Glove shoes for the better part of the last decade, I have to admit this is the first version I am disappointed in. The "barefoot" feel is completely missing from the shoe. The toe box has been shrunk to a degree that disallows natural forefoot movement, but the most disappointing part of the shoe is the change to the "arch support". The new version of the arch support is so insanely rigid that it completely disallows natural foot movement, to the degree I do fear injury in these shoes and cannot continue to wear them. The arch support is strange in design and it feels like it locks my foot in place, and as if I can only utilize a flat footed foot strike, whereas previous versions allowed for a very natural "on your toes" forefoot foot strike. Regardless of the reasoning behind the design, I have found it unwearable, potentially injurious, and if nothing else, brutally uncomfortable. Please, Merrell, return to the trail glove 3 design. That was the best trail shoe I had ever purchased. These are easily the worst. It's really disappointing, I had ordered these for Christmas for a present to myself, was quite excited to receive them and now I don't know what to do with a pair of shoes I can't wear.

I have enjoyed several pairs of Merrell footwear but this model is a big disappointment. The most annoying aspect is the insole - it is not made to fit this shoe. The edges in the heelbed area are wider than the shoe and the edges are not contoured as is normally done to fit the insole in place. Consequently creases form in the edges and the insole moves back toward the heal bed, moving up the side of the shoe to the top of the rear of the shoe. Once it has worked its way up it no longer covers the front toe area of the shoe. Poorly designed and cheaply made!

This is without question the worst Merrell "Glove" (Barefoot shoe) I've ever tried. I have half a dozen different Merrell barefoot shoes and the Vapor Glove 3 Luna Leather is my all-time favorite shoe. This shoe, however, does not deserver to be called a "Barefoot" shoe. It has basically abandoned everything that made Merrell Barefoot shoes good. To put it simply, this is not a minimalist shoe, it doesn't belong in the Barefoot/Glove line, and it leaves me thinking that Merrell has decided to focus on fashion over function. First, the toe box. Look closely at the Trail Glove 6 and what you'll notice is that it doesn't match the shape of the traditional Merrell Barefoot shoes. Instead, it looks like any of their other narrow, fashion-oriented shoes that is anatomically incorrect and does not provide adequate space or shape for the human foot. Secondly, the extreme tightness around the arch. I could barely get my foot into the shoe, even after sizing up, and it was still incredibly uncomfortable. Probably the most uncomfortable shoe I've put on my foot in the last ~5 years. Anyone who's worn any minimalist shoe is going to find this bizarre and unnatural. Thirdly, this is an incredibly stiff and inflexible shoe. There is no meaningful ground feel here. Don't get me wrong, I understand that trail running shoes typically have a little extra padding to protect feet on rough trails, but this goes way beyond that. Once again, this is just not in any way a minimalist shoe. Lastly is the overall narrowness of this shoe. Any good minimalist or barefoot shoe will have a shape that generally follows the natural shape of a human foot (see: earlier Merrell "Barefoot" shoes). This shoe doesn't. It looks more like a pair of Chucks with their incredibly narrow, rounded-point toe. These are not just narrow for Barefoot shoes, these are narrow for any shoes. That's a bad thing in general, but it's completely unforgivable in a minimalist shoe. This is the first time since Merrell introduced their Barefoot line that I've been disappointed. Not just in the shoe, but in Merrell, too.

These are so different from previous generations that they should rename these. These share nothing with the previously fine line of shoes by this name.

Unfortunately this pair seems to be defective as the Right shoe once put on turns inward towards the left and the material is lest worthy then the original Trail Gloves.

One of these shoes had a cosmetic defect. There was glue all over the suede at the back. It was very noticeable and I can't believe that they were shipped like this. Merrell should have caught this at the source. I tried to get a replacement pair but Merrill did not come through on this at all.

Bought these to replace my original trail gloves which had simply worn out because they were my favorite shoe... 6 generations and they've ruined a great barefoot shoe. Too narrow in the forefoot, hard to get on, too much arch support. Lacing system that cuts into the top of my foot... The store wouldn't take them back so donated them to a charity and cut my losses.. Sorry Merrell never again will I buy your marketing hype.

This is my first ever Merrell shoes that did not fit properly - despite being the same size as the Merrell's i am currently wearing. They actually threw my feet into an incredibly uncomfortable position.

First New Balance and now Merrell - another minimalist shoe gets co-opted. I'm so sick of this cycle - I find a minimalist shoe I really like, and when I wear it out, it's been replaced by a new generation of itself that seems to come from people who don't know what barefoot/minimalist means. I have motocross boots with soles more flexible than this shoe - I can't bend it with both hands to save my life, and I curl 60 lb. dumbbells each day. It's like running with a piece of plywood strapped to your foot. I also replaced my Vapor Gloves of the same age, and those are still true to the originals.

The shoe is very uncomfortable. Built in arch support is way too high to the point of actually causing minor pain while walking. Tight fit all around, narrow toe box.

I've had two previous pairs of trail gloves and loved them not the trail glove 6. Had them for about 3 months and they are still extremely hard to get on and are beyond tight and won't "break in". I can't wear them anymore. I'd avoid this model. Hopefully the 7 is better.

You ask, Where did I take my Merrell Trail Glove 6 shoes? I took them to UPS to return them! Sorry to say they were a big disappointment. Merrell has an arch support built in which takes up half of the width of the shoe thus it is NOT a wide shoe for a flat foot. Shoe is NOT wide enough for bare feet and it hurts flat feet!

Arch is easy to high. I expected the shoes to be like my vapor glove shoes with thicker soles. They have a huge arch and are to narrow.

I've been consistently wearing trail gloves since the 2 and this one is by far the worse. I couldn't even fit my foot in whereas at least the 5, it would eventually stretch out. Really disappointed that Merrell changed the shoe so much that I need to find others. I know a lot of people liked the 0 drop aspect while still not being too chunky or thin but I'll have to stop recommending Merrell to others now sadly.
