I loved my Trail Glove 3's. These are an improvement in almost all ways. For the 3 and these, I buy 2 so I can rotate and use them longer

I switched from the 5fingers trail shoes to the Merrell Trail Gloves 2 and never looked back. I'm now on my 5th pair, version 6. I love the feel that these running shoes give me.

These things are great; hands down the best generation, in my opinion. Took them with me on a Spartan race, and use them regularly for both trail runs and working out at the gym.

My 6th year with Merrell's minimal trail running shoe! Pretty much live in them for most of the year.
I play a lot of Disc Golf and these are great because they handle the wear of walking all day on rough courses. Since they are minimal(-ish), they allow for more stable footing while pivoting and, I still get to run/bike/hike in them as well. In VT, that translates to a life span of 9 months from mud to stick season at about 50 mi/week.

Lightweight, no rock feel with soles, I have Wide feet so its easy to feel rocks penatrating thru the shoe. I have picked up a bit of sand while hiking which is fine, I prefer the barefoot model of this shoe over the trail glove, they just fit better... Make sure to get the right width it makes all the difference in the world.

I've had these shoes for a few months now, beifre this I had the vapor glove 3 (much less padding) these shoes are some of the most comfortable I've had. I like the fact that when wearing them it forms so well to my foot shape. With the extra padding compared to the vapor glove its much more durable and better in colder weather. For me this is one of the only brands I'll use for shoes. Excellent quality and a great product.

Just bought my second pair of these. They're not as barefoot as the Vapors or other truly barefoot style shoes. These have enough protection from rocks for trail running and a little bit of stability/support as well while still being low-drop and flexible. Surprisingly good grip on wet surfaces and decent tread for loose surfaces as well.

Low profile with high arch support is rare for me (sized US15) with perfect heel lock.
Enough toe box room but with some lace up conjestion at the last level of eyelets (closest to ankle)
- ends up taking a very slight but deliberate effort to get right; possibly due to larger than normal fingers.
Like 'em a lot.

I've read some less than enthusiastic reviews about this model, but honestly it's my favorite so far in terms of fit and comfort. Over the years, I've had a couple Trail gloves and Vapor gloves, and now that I'm in my 50s I value the firm arch in this Trail glove. It doesn't take away from feeling the ground beneath me or restrict natural movement.
Some folks have complained about the lack of a "tongue," and that is a little weird. I can't slip them on; gotta untie em and retie. That's not a huge deal to me, but you'll read about it in other reviews. The only other issue I have is with Merrell's continuing quest to make their treads increasingly complex. I have chickens and dogs; sometimes I have to scrape poop, and the treads have never been easy to scrape.
I've been wearing them for a couple months now, but so far no glue is giving up, all the seams are holding, and they're breaking in great.
I'm a physical therapist assistant, a kung fu guy, and I'm learning to fence. I play outside in the woods a lot. These shoes can handle everything I throw at them.

When these first arrived, it was an instant love/hate relationship. They look great (I got them in monument), and the thicker sole was a surprise, but welcome. I'm coming from a pair of cotton vapor gloves (meh), and still hanging on to a pair of my V1's (loved these). When I first put these on, the stiff arch support had me thinking they wouldn't work our. It felt very odd, and down right uncomfortable. I ordered the same size as my past gloves, and it was pretty consistent, but snug, and tying them to not be too tight became an art of sorts. These are real picky about your socks too. In a pair of Merrell's barefoot socks they were great, but those are pretty thin. The first week or two in these maintained my thought they might not work, as that odd mid foot/arch support was real prominent when walking on hard surfaces (yes, I wear these to my office job), but once I got them on the trails, that support became very welcome, and quite frankly, led to me realizing how amazing they were starting to feel. As they broke in after 2-3 weeks, they got better and better and started to feel like they were fitting to my foot. My old ankle socks weren't cutting it, but a pair of athletic gold toe's really hit the spot. With a bit more time and a bit more trail time, these have now broken in to where the support is no longer a noticeable issue on flat surfaces, and are a dream to hike in.
My bottom line is that these need time to really shine, but it's worth it.

I bought my first pair of trail gloves a couple years ago and fell in love with this shoe for hiking. Used them a lot on long alpine hikes and find them better than other hiking shoes. The lightweight, zero drop, barefoot shoe holds the foot well and grips to various terrains. It is not as minimal as other minimalist shoes and the extra hold makes it more fitting for rocky and elevated hike than say the more minimal vapor gloves. My favorite feature is the permeability of the shoe. I have walked through streams and rainy conditions. My feet get wet but dry fast and the shoes never leaves any blisters. Easy to wash and with a lasting build. Recently received the new trail glove 6 seems like a good follower to the 5.
I would love a high top version of the trail glove with the same barefoot permeability. Not for ankle support but for protection against cuts and scrapes on more rugged terrains.
Great shoe for more challenging and long hikes. Highly recommended.

My husband loves these shoes. He's not a trail runner and uses them as an everyday walk about shoe. I tried them on in my size (women's) and found them heavy. I run but wouldn't run in these because of the weight. I prefer a lighter shoe for running but do appreciate the treads on the soles. Would make a great trail walking shoe or daily walk about shoe if you don't mind the weight of the soles. Very comfy and well built.

I bought these shoes a few months ago and I love them. I bought them to wear for a Ragnar trail race and as soon as I started wearing them I knew they were perfect. They fit snugly, but not too snugly, but are so light that they make me feel kind of springy. I got to the point where I would go out for a run not on trails and be sad because I wanted to wear these shoes. I just finished the trail run I bought them for and they held up wonderfully over 15+ miles in rain, mud and rough, rocky terrain. I never once felt like I had insecure footing, even was jumping from rock to rock. They're also minimal enough that once they got soaked on my second leg they dried out enough in 5 hours to be comfortable for my third leg. I don't know how long they'll hold up, but they make me happy enough to run on trails that even if they don't hold up amazingly well I'll buy another pair. They have wide toe boxes, which is great for me, but I know it's not for everyone.
All in all I'm thrilled with the purchase, and am going to go look for a road version right now.

I still put arch support and heel pad inside (like I do with all my shoes) but I love these. I have worn the first pair out after 3 years. Just bought a second pair for hiking and running trails, and now a third for everyday wear.

I have been using barefoot shoes for about 3 years now and love them. Every backpacking trip I take them. If you have not built up your legs and ankles to support barefoot shoes taking thees on a big trip will be difficult because you use more muscles.
Once acclimated to barefoot shoes you will fall in love with them

I love these shoes. I'm buying another pair. I have kyphosis (forward curvature of the spine) and shoes make or break how my back feels. These shoes, that I wear for work and everyday use, have made an HUGE difference. Natural support and not making me stand or walk unnaturally is the key.
