The toe box breaks down very quickly and lacks sustainable support in that area after about 65-70 miles. Also, after 120-130 miles of normal walking/running, the tread is so worn traction is now a concern.

These are the weirdest sneakers I’ve ever worn. After wearing them in the house for a few days, and finding them as cushy and comfortable as slippers (with great support), I took them out on the road. To my surprise, it felt as if the shoes had grown in the two days I’d had them. They’re still very cushy, but it also feels as though I might trip because there’s too much room! I wore the same socks as I did while wearing them inside, so it’s strange that they feel too big even though they’re an 8 (wide).
Prior to this pair, I ordered the Hoka One One in an 8.5 — the size I’ve worn for the past few years in every sneaker — only to return them because they were too big. Now, I’m in a quandary: Do I exchange
this second pair, different model in a smaller size or go with a whole other brand? Curious if anyone else has found their sizing off.

I've heard awesome things about this shoe but it was not for me. Toe box is very tight and my feet are decently wide. Have not it made it more than 6 miles in one putting on these. Not a terrible purchase, just not for me.

I really like the cushion and responsiveness of the shoe. I really liked the mid heel to toe drop for forefoot striking. I am really annoyed with Hoka insisting on making all their shoes standard size more narrow than any other company. If you are going to do this please offer what you would consider "wide" in ALL shoe options. Even normal shoe inserts fit into your wide shoes as if they were normal. Please stop narrowing your shoes. I would love to wear these Mach 4s but apparently people with normal feet widths are not important to the Hoka demographic.

I felt like I was walking on a bed of tiny pins. I have three other pairs of Hoka and they are very comfortable. I was surprised this pair was different. I really like the brand.

Decent shoe, but after 10-13 miles it began to tear my feet part around the underfoot and toes. Comfortable but will not race in this shoe.

My first pair and wanted really bad to like them. I want these to become by go to shoes for mid to long distance runs, but after mile 7 the shoe became very uncomfortable, and left me with severe blisters.

Totally disappointed in these shoes with all the hype surrounding them. They are real tigh if you plan on ordering them go a half size bigger. The cushion isn't that great on these either. It seem to have no push or rocker on them also.

When I first got theses they seemed great. Now after a few hundred miles they seem to have gone flat. Not sure what happened but I really can't run in them any more. One started making an annoying squeaking noise that drives me nuts. Good luck with yours.

Picked up these shoes after a buddy recommended them and I love the colors available but it's not for me and my running style. After mile 6 on my runs I get chafing on the inside of my foot and makes the rest of the miles kind of an annoyance. Next days run is kinda ruined since I really don't want that feeling.
Would I recommend for a friend? Just depends on your running style honestly.

OK, I like the shoe for the most part. Light enough and feels comfortable on runs of any distance I've run in my training since I've owned them (most I've gone on these has been 12 miles). The disappointing aspect of these shoes has been the wear. After about 150 miles, I noticed wear on the treads, more than most. I have a pair of 400 mile Brooks Ghosts that still have most of the tread left. With these Hoka's now at around 200-220, most of the tread area is excessively worn. Soon I'll be sliding instead of running. Very disappointed in this; I feel it is about 100 miles too soon to replace, but will have to in order to continue training. This was my first pair of Hoka's, but I think I'll be going back to Brooks for the next pair.

After tremendous anticipation for the Mach 4, I bought them, but then returned them to Hoka after 4 runs (~45 miles). I own several pair of Hoka trail and road shoes and love each of them, so I was excited to add the Mach 4 to my rotation. However, after my first run, I had some high Achilles/soleus aggravation. I took 4-5 days away from them and ran pain-free in my other Hokas. I then went back to the Mach 4 and had that same high Achilles/soleus pain. I repeated the rotation process another two times, but the pain was there only with the Mach 4, not my Hokas or another competitor.
So, I returned the Mach 4 to Hoka. I will say the return process was easy and the refund came fast. This level of service will keep me as a loyal buyer of Hoka shoes. Not all shoes will work out and I know that Hoka will make it right if they do not work out.
2 Stars for the Mach 4; 5 Stars for Hoka's Customer Service and return policy

I bought this shoe due to the amount of praise it had from reviews. At first I thought I would love the shoe, but after just 40 miles, just two weeks of running, It feels like I'm running bare foot and my feet always ache afterwards! I've never had this problem with any other running shoes. The shoes also shoe a significant amount of wear on the soles for such short mileage, I question the durability of this shoe and how long the will hold up! Not a good impression for my first pair of Hokas!

I bought this shoe thinking it would be a great shoe for faster training days because of the ProFly midsole. I found it to be very stable, but also slow and somewhat heavy, so I went with the Clifton instead.

So I read the reviews before purchasing and seemed like a good shoe. But every time I run I get really bad blister and irritation on my right foot. At first I thought it was that they were new and needed to be broken in some more. After two months the blisters still happened and I adjusted the shoe to see if I could fix it but didn't work. I may have gotten a defect because this blistering and irritation makes my strike off and my left leg to go numb on the runs. All my other friends who use this shoe thoroughly enjoy them I just got unlucky.

I'm not sure this shoe knows what it wants to be. It's classic Hoka, but the fit is rough. It's a bit too slender, even though I would say it's true to size because I couldn't size up due to the heel slip. The laces are weirdly long so you'll have to do a runner's knot. There's no ground feel due to the stack height of foam, but the foam isn't bouncy or soft so I'm not sure how this shoe is supposed to fit in the rotation. Not a racing shoe, not a daily trainer. Move on.

For the few miles I was able to run in the Mach 4s, I enjoyed the light weight, the midsole feel, and the overall ride. The major downside, however, and the reason I returned them, was because of the narrow toebox. Although the toebox is relatively unstructured, it is still fairly narrow and it rubbed my toes constantly on the outside. Enough so that it was irritating and painful. I really wish Hoka would widen the toe boxes in all of their shoes.

My 17 year old son purchased these Machs on his State Championship T & F trip, with his own money he had been saving and wanting them so bad. After 4 months and only 4 months of year, he was in PE at school and the entire class witnessed the side of his shoe bust out, do to his large foot he had to wear until we could get another pair shipped. This was mortifying, we have purchased all brands in 17 years and this is one of the least durable ever. It's actually sad too because he actually loved the shoe and comfort for the 4 months it lasted!

As soon as I took them out of the box, I was unhappy with them. The sole of the shoe was like plastic, not at all the thick rubber sole I have experienced on the other two pair of Hoka Shoes that I own. Honestly, to me, they felt like a cheap pair of sneakers from Walmart, just not at all what I was expecting. I did put one on, but, the fit and comfort of the shoe was not at all what I was expecting. Maybe I missed the part about a hard plastic sole?

Honestly, I've been wearing hokas for years. And this is the first time I have been dissatisfied. The shoe feels cheap and like it's about to fall apart. I've worn them 3 times and decided that would be my last time. They're still new! And I go back to my Clifton's. I'm not normally one to write a review. But wanted to share.

I bought two pairs because I loved them so much. Little did I know they would start ripping and the sole is starting to come apart. I only run twice a week for about 3-4 miles so I don't think this should happen after only a few months. Probably the best running shoe I've ever had but man they don't hold up.
