It would be five stars if there was a better color selection. On my first time wearing the Mach 4, there was no break in period. It felt heavenly.

Fits true to size. One of those shoes that disappears on your foot after ten minutes due to it's lightweight, supple upper and smooth transitions. Great for daily runs or recovery runs. Ideal at moderate or slow paces. Tough to pick up the pace or do any speed work in but I don't think that is the goal with this shoe. Outsole can pick up gravel and rocks. 50 miles and durability seems decent. Time will tell on the midsole and upper.

True to size fit, extremely responsive, and great for my fast longer mile runs. Only wish the shoes were a little bit wider in the forefoot took a while to break them in. Was very painful for the first week wearing them.

The HOKA Mach 4's are one of the HOKA shoes that I rotate with other HOKA shoes. The shoes that I rotate are Rincon 2's, and Carbon X2's. All these shoes are light and fast. I only use the Carbon X2's for virtual racing which give a little more speed. Speed is all relative because I'm 77 and can only average 12:30 to 14:30 minute miles. I like the trend at HOKA going to lighter, more responsive shoes. The only issue that I have with all these shoes is that they hurt my right foot due to calluses.

Perfect for my short and mid range tempo runs where I want a little more energy return in exchange for the plush comfort I get from other Hoka models e.g., Cliftons & Rincons ! I feel fast and comfortable with a lockdown incomparable to any other shoe I've EVER worn.

The highly raved about Hoka Mach 4. 12 miles out of the box. The shoe fits like a glove and is very comfortable. It's springier and more responsive than a Clifton 7 but def. less plush. It's light and the forefoot rocker is pronounced and noticeable. It seems like a great all round shoe you can use for anything between easy runs to tempos or long runs. Durability could be a tad less than the Clifton due to the lack of rubber pads. I am likely to get about 600 miles out of these. Last but not least, the heel is quite beefy, something heel strikers might appreciate. However, due to the early rocker the shoes doesn't feel heel heavy or unbalanced.

Fit was true to size. Only issue for me is the heel wears out quick. I am a heel striker and these were done at 120 miles.

I have wore the shoes about 20 times and the interior back is already starting to deteriorate. The quality of the material on these shoes is not meeting the mark.

I’ve only worn the Mach 4 a few times. On foot, walking, it feels comfortable. However once I pick up the pace the EVA outsole is a bit rigid for my likings. I reviewed this shoe in-depth and buyer feedback is great...but i’m not convinced it’s the right shoe for me. I will run some more and attempt different ranges and tempos before I make a final decision.
I'd also recommend:

They are very comfortable, but the treads wear down faster than any other running shoes I have ever owned - nike, asics, saucony, etc. I'm surprised and disappointed. I hope Hoka have addressed this in subsequent products. I've even taken care to baby and save these primarily for running.

They're okay. Not the greatest shoes I've ever had. If you walk on the outsides of your feet, then they aren't for you.
Honestly, I wish I'd returned them when I had the chance, but I kept thinking they'd get more comfortable... I'm glad I bought them at a relatively low price.
This is the first time I've bought Hoka and will most likely he the only time.

I bought Hoka Mach 4 and was hoping for a bit more cushion and did not receive what I expected in that department. The shoes are light and responsive, and my sprint workout was a bit better than my longer pace or tempo runs. So if a responsive and light shoe is what you're looking for maybe they'll be more to your taste. I ran ~35-40 miles in them and felt I'd tried enough so decided to return them. True to their word, Hoka accepted my return and refunded my purchase with zero hassle. So even though the Mach 4 didn't work out, I was pleased by my buying experience and in the future may give Hoka another try with a model that has a more plush ride.

I have under pronation / supination. I looked on the site, but couldn't find anything listing the support I was looking for. Shoe also fits slightly smaller than my other brands.

The shoes are comfortable but this particular style doesn't offer enough cushioning for my liking. I'm 6'0" and 210, do CrossFit mostly but like to get out and run as well. Won't be purchasing this style again.

I cannot say enough about how comfortable my Hoka shoes are on my feet. It's like running on air. My only concern is how quickly the treads wear. After 50 miles there was some wear and after 100 miles, I would say significant wear. The uppers of my old pair were the most durable I have ever worn. No holes at all.

Big Hoka fan & have owned at least 7 pair in last 10 years! However, Mach 4 was disappointing for me as hurt the arch and heel of right foot. Did appear to have more cushion than my Clifyon's! Used to not noticing shoe while wearing Hoka's!!
