Use them for work I stand on my feet for 6 to 8 hours a day I am in the service industry.
I like that they give me a lift when I have to reach high for something and that they are non skid so I won't slip on a wet or greasy floor.
The arches are a little uncomfortable ( I do have flat feet), but I am still breaking them in and I need to give them a little more time I only have wore them for 2 weeks now.

I purchased a pair of the orthopedic tennies. They were very comfortable straight of the box. However, after wearing them for several hours, my feet began to hurt and fall asleep. I adjusted the laces several times to see if that would help. Finally adjusted them to the point they were almost slipping off my feet. The instep pressure would just not let up. The width is great. The soles are amazing, but for the expense, I more than likely, will not try another pair. I really had high hopes for these, as I have such a difficult time finding shoes that are comfortable, yet perform well with activity, due to some physical issues I have with my feet. Overall, they are okay, but they aren't the first shoes I want to grab out of my closet.

I've had the previous versions of the Gaviota model and really loved the balance between stability, rigidity and the plushness under your feet. This Gaviota 3 pair still provides the stability, heel grip, and rigidity, however, it has no plushness and give under your feet. Feels like you are walking with some wooden clods. Seriously thinking of returning them. Kinda disappointed because the previous versions of Gaviota were my favorites.

I walk and or exercise regularly. The tread holding up well, but I have tears already in top of shoe and the laces are extremely long even after using extra hole. I'd almost trip if I don't tie them correctly

Great shoes however the bottoms are wearing out a little quicker than I think they should.

I love the plushness of these shoes and the support but my bunions and flat feet don't agree. Tried the Bondi 7, great width on toe box area but no stability support. HOKA, why not offer a 2x wide in the Gaviota like the Bondi 7? One more minor thing, I can see all the bad craftsman shift with the gluing on the shoe lace holes. But overall, good shoes, just not for my feet. 2x WIDE PLEASE!!!

Exited to add to my running shoe assortment, my third pair of Hoka but in a very short time some trim pieces are coming loose (unglued). Even with a size 1/2 larger to my actual shoe size my toes are not comfortable.

I LOVED the Gaviota 2, so I was expecting nothing but awesome when I ordered the 3.
Well, reality fell well short of expectations.
Hoka made these shoes HEAVIER, and less attractive. The tongue refuses to lay flat, and "pooches up" toward the tow box. Additionally, the stock laces are SO long you can't tie the shoe tightly, otherwise the aglet and loop BOTH touch the ground on both sides.
For my 5th pair of Hoka, these were the first truly disappointing shoe.

The shoe is very comfortable. Part of the bottom of the shoe started to come off/loose after wearing a few times.

I wore the Gaviota versions 1 & 2 and loved them. I have very flat feet and as I've gotten older (mid-50's) the road is a lot harder (+/-15 miles/week). The version 3 has a great sole and feels like it offers more support - some Hokas feel mushy. I really don't care for the new uppers - they are considerably wider than the earlier versions (did I mention my narrow feet?). I don't like the new nylon material which feels thin. The lacing system is better and keeps the strings tight but is difficult to loosen. When the laces are tightened the ankle cushions next to the tongue pop out of place on both sides. Also, the pair I received had a QC issue - one of the lace-loop covers was unglued. It was a cosmetic issue so not worth the trouble to exchange. It's still a good shoe but just feels like a step backward - especially compared to version 2. I don't know why every version has to be "improved" - I would rather buy multiple pairs of the shoe I like than get a different version when I really need them.

These fit small and stiff in comparison to my two pair of Bondi 7. Disappointing fit.

I'm not sure if I am simply not used to the degree of stability offered in a shoe like this, but I get numbness and pain in my feet/legs when running with these shoes. I've purchased other stabilizing shoes that haven't caused the same pain I get from the Gaviotas. Again, it's probably just that my feet aren't made for these particular shoes.

These shoes are extremely comfortable, but they are just not right for my feet. Additionally, the lacing system itself is annoying enough to keep me from wearing the shoes. It is way too convoluted. I loved them at first, but had to return them. I keep trying Hoka, but Altra Paradigm is the shoe that works for me.

Got the shoes and loved them, but unfortunately like the reviews mention quality control is not great. The stitching was coming apart after 4-5 runs. Called to exchange them for a new pair and they cancelled my order and refunded me instead. :/

My son liked these. He has a very wide foot with pronation. He has been wearing brooks beasts for years. He decided he liked the feel and styling of the brooks better.

It is not a bad shoe. Just not as comfortable as my first pair of gaviottas. They finally wore out and had to get the gaviotta,3. The fit feels stiffer and narrower for some reason even though there is supposedly more cushioning. I don't have wide feet but hokas make me want to go wide.

These were recommended to me because of the stability. It was suggested that I get a 1/2 size larger but they are still tight in the toe box. Tried wearing without socks which helps, but not comfortable. As noted, the Gaviota 3 is cushioned but tight.

Maybe Hokas just aren't for me and my wide feet anymore. I loved my Arahi 4s. The Arahi 5s are cheap and fell apart 300 miles in. These are starting to show some disconcerting wear after 156 miles. I guess we'll see if they can go another 250 without completely falling apart?

I wear the Gaviota 3 everyday. I walk a couple of miles daily, so not that hard on them. They are very comfortable and initially thought these were the best Hoka's I had worn (my 6th pair). However, I noticed that the upper material is starting to tear after 4 months. I'm not sure I've ever seen that in any shoes I've ever worn. IBoth shoes have have the same issue. I also second some of the comments that the laces are too long. For the price, these shoes should have better quality. Thought about getting a second pair but now not so sure.
