As a proud user of the original Carbon X, I expected little to no change with these shoes. I am sadly disappointed. The extra sole in the back is useless for propulsion. The heel hits but rocks back right and then you have to push hard to move the foot to the toes. The extra flap under the tongue squishes the top of the foot and splays the metatarsal, causing hot spots on the fifth toe. The toe box is longer but narrower, as well. Considering I have shorter toes with a wider box, this change is opposite of what my feet need. I run 250 miles a month and buy shoes every two months. I have owned four pairs of the original X and am used to the cushion, comfort, and propulsion. This shoe felt like the Mach 4 with a higher price tag. I question whether there is even a carbon plate truly inside? It feels cheap, loose, and clunky. The colors are great but I don't run to look cute, I run to be fast. Seems like Hoka has a habit of screwing up their iterations with me. This is a personal review and I am truly a hard core Hoka fan. I will run in no other shoe. I had really high expectations and was let down significantly.

The shoes do not fit my feet right. There is not enough arch support and they gap around my toes. The extended heels get in my way. If I hadn't worn them I would return them.

Purchased in my size 7.5. They were way too big! Exchanged for a 7. They are still too big. Can't return.
