Great shoes for neutral runners and technical trails BUT the soles wear out before the shoe is ready to retire. I have twisted my ankles several times going down slippery rocky hills which has caused permanent damage to my ankles. The soles of my road runners last MUCH longer than trail shoes AND I run more trails than roads ea week.

Let me start by saying that my previous Catamounts are my favorite shoes at the moment. However the new ones have not been very comfortable on the ball of my one foot. So today was maybe only my third run in them. Time will see if they break in or not. But since my foot is a lil sore from wearing them today, I'll l not try again for a while.
The colors are not quite the way they appeared on the website.

This style runs at least a 1/2 size big. The shoe has a great look, but lacked cushion compared to Ghost and Glycerin. I ended up returning them.

HI - here is my concern - the lacing - why are there no eyelets around the ankle, like every single other running shoe? I didn't notice this before I bought, but the eyelets end in a location that doesn't really allow for a tight fit around the ankle area. I usually crank my trail shoes down really tight and utilize the extra eyelets for that purpose - these shoes just don't have them. I love the rest of the shoe (so far) but i'm now questioning whether these can really be my trail shoe for technical trails. I got these instead of the Cascadia because the Cascadias keep changing, and no longer fit me or feel good on my feet :-(

I had to return first pair due to the narrowness of the shoe. I went a ½ size bigger and this time I could get my foot in the shoe. Not going to lie, it's my first pair of Brooks and I'm not 100% satisfied. I'm very used to the fit and feel of Adidas sneakers. However, I wanted to try a pair of these. Maybe the Catamount wasn't the way to go...just being honest!
I'd also recommend:

Good hybrid shoe for light trails/asphalt. Definitely a light, fast shoe. Unfortunately, not enough arch support or cushion for my taste.
For comparison, my go to trail shoes are Saucony Peregrines; the Catamounts are definitely lighter and faster than those, okay on twigs, smaller roots, but slipped on loose pine needles, sand.
I took them on two test runs on wooded trail/"off trail" and asphalt: 5 miles (dry), 10 miles (wet). My feet were numbing/tingling after 5 miles. Didn't have enough traction in loose or muddy conditions. On heavy roots and twisted turns, more ankle twisting than I get with my more supportive Peregrines.
The Catamounts are a fun, fast shoe and I really wanted to love them. They will make a good race/rotation shoe for many. Alas, I prefer more cushion, support and grip. I'll keep an eye out on later editions of this shoe.

Honestly not enough coushin, too light and not much support. I returned them for the glycerin 20 which are so dreamy. My go to shoe.

Has Brooks abandoned the seamless construction of their running shoes that made them standout? The Catamount has a seam at the base of the tongue where it is joined to the upper. The bulk of the seam turned out to rub against the top of the foot. Headed home early to remove the shoes which had made red marks on the top of both feet where the seam rubbed. They felt more speed oriented than the Cacadia 15. Hopefully an upcoming version will eliminate that seam.

I don't own this color - but the white and blue. The shoe itself is great - but the cosmetic design is disappointing. The TPU overlay yellowed within days of wearing the shoe. I expected more from this brand in their durability.

The "extra" part that holds the tongue in place dug into my foot from the moment I put it on. It appeared to be the correct size and width for my foot so I'm not sure if it was just a faulty shoe, especially since my husband bought the same shoe (in men's) and found it very comfortable. It also didn't seem to have as much support as our regular running shoes (ghosts & adrenalines) but it seems decent for what we'd use it for - not super rugged but more gravel, hills, dirt, grass etc.

Did not like them. Tried them for 30 days. Too narrow. I don't have wide feet and have only ran in Brooks for 12 years in a 10.5 medium width. Was extremely disappointed.

This was #7 pair of Brooks. I rate it a zero. I have many different models wearing a 7.5 very comfortable. I order this one also in 7.5. She was BIG, almost slipping off. Also felt very heavy. I DID NOT LIKE IT. I have already returned them. I ordered this pair on Brooks website. I went to Dick?s Sporting Goods and bought the Leviate model. Same size 7.5. Another disappointment with that one. This one a bit too tight. Why the difference?
