Great shoe. The fit is so much better than grit so good call on design. White trail shoes don't stay white for long though!

I have run two 9-mile trail runs with these shoes -- straight out of the box -- and they are great so far. I would recommend for folks who do not need after market insoles, as you cannot remove the ones that come with these -- not a problem for me, but could be for some. They fit great, light, good traction.

Great combination of a light weight trail shoe with the responsiveness needed to hit your tempo with the protection needed for the trails. One of the best trail shoes I have wore in years!

The Catamount really surprised me and I didn't know what to expect but this wasn't it, it was better. The Catamount harnesses the same DNA Flash midsole material as the Hyperion Tempo with a heel stack height of 32mm and 26mm at the toe for a 6mm offset, so I expected a similar ride from the Catamount to the Tempo which has a 32mm heel and 24 mm toe for an 8mm offset which i love on the road. The Catamount ride seemed a bit more firm and a touch stiffer than the Tempo though, not a negative just an observation. I'd probably give that up to the Ballistic Rockshield protecting us from sharp painful things. The Catamount is also 2.3oz heavier than the Tempo as well which I'd give to the weight of the rockshield, carefully reinforced upper and the outsole lugs. So the outsole lugs, I would have loved to have had more lug depth. But, given that this shoe was designed to run Western States type of trails, a bit buffed out and not super technical I didn't hold out much hope that the shoe could stand up to the heavy technical trails we all love to run. Thanks to a full length Trailtack (Trail Tack?) outsole, the tread did the job. There were times I got some slipping on rocks but given where I run up here in Alaska, most shoes slip and slide on the stuff here too. Under wet conditions the sticky Trailtack rubber helped out the under lugged outsole, but there was a lot of slipping around on the wet rocks which I wasn't surprised would happen since Alaska eats shoes. The Catamount feels very comfortable with plenty of space in the toe box without feeling like you are swimming in it. The upper is very breathable so no hot foot experiences to speak of but all that breathability comes at a cost. I did experience dirt transfer into the shoe through the upper, not enough to cause any performance issues but enough to make notice of it. The Catamount does have a missing lace eyelet though. The top eyelet that allows for a runners not has been left out, fortunately I didn't feel the need to have it. I experienced no heel lift even when the shoes became wet from either sweat or from crossing streams and rain. Speaking of water, the shoe drains really well as I expected it would and this brings me back to the upper, the white upper. I get the color the shoe with the trails you run idea, I like it a lot, I am a romantic after all and love the sentimental stuff. I love getting shoes dirty and this was a fun shoe to get dirty, but I still needed to hand wash it afterwards. Not because I like my white shoes white but because of the dirt build up around the ankle collar began discoloring my socks, so the choice was to have either a clean shoe or keep getting really dirty socks, clean shoe it is. Over all impression of this shoe is that it is very fast, pretty light (for a trail shoe), breathable, dependable, sticks to the trail pretty well and takes the abuse. All we can ask for from any shoe, and I asked a lot from it. Would or will I buy another pair once I wear this one out? Yep, it's a fun shoe and that's all I want out of life. I'm pretty simple.

These are perfect trail running she's. Stable but lightweight and quick drying. I've worn them for all sorts of conditions and they do not disappoint. Brooks has thought about every detail in this shoe. It's a trail running dream!

Shoes are fantastic. Love Brooks new midsole DNA Flash that also featureS on the Hyperion Tempo. If you're into marketing, telling your story by getting your white shoes dirty is pretty cool. That said, I'd probably prefer different upper color ways going forward. Time to go run some more trails!

I took the Catamount on an 11 mile trail run straight out of the box. I have lots of shoes that compare well in weight and tread but the Catamount has better cushion in most cases combined with a rock plate. I felt very protected from the rock garden trails in the Southeast. The midsole has a great mix of comfort and responsiveness that makes you want to pick up the pace. The upper was breathable and comfortable with a great lock down feel when laced up. I went true to size and had no issue. Excited for more miles in this shoe.

Love these! As a cross country coach, I have run in all of Brooks' trail shoes and have found the Catamount to be the best middle ground better support, stability, and responsiveness. Last weekend I ran a trail half marathon in them with no foot discomfort, rubbing, or any other concerns. Ended up with a 11-minute PR and first ever overall win! Not to mention, the Catamount just looks sharp, even when dirty!

Probably the best trail shoe, and certainly the best distance shoe Brooks has produced. The Catamount is a race car with off road tires.

Best Brooks trail shoe I've tried! Definitely more cushion than I expected labeled as a Speed shoe (which is fine by me). Love the white with the idea of getting them as muddy as possible!

Solid trail shoe. Feel like a stiffer version of the Hyperion tempo.

Really great trail shoe, 2 runs and 30 miles in and they are feeling great. I have only had these on gravel/groomed dirt/pavement. I have seen in multiple reviews that the upper lacks a bit of stability while cornering and I agree with that. This shoes feel like they can handle long miles but possibly not the gnarliest of trails. Still a 5 star for me and I'm loving them!

It fits great, feels great and is just fun to run in. I hope they keep this around like they keep the ghosts. I honestly don?t think they need to change anything for a long time other than maybe offer a couple more color ways for people on the fence about white trail shoes even though the idea behind the white is totally something I love and agree with. All trail shoes get dirty so might as well paint it your way. Love this shoe. Home run Brooks?

The Catamount is my new go-to trail shoe! It's lightweight, well-cushioned but responsive (thanks Flash DNA midsole!) and provides good traction on a variety of surfaces. Also runs smoothly on the road en route to the trail. Love this shoe!

I've been running in the shoe for a few weeks now and I have pushed it to the very limit on super hard technical trails as well as buffed out smooth trails going for my fast this time. It has handled both incredibly well. The upper is super comfortable, the cushioning is perfect, and the traction is excellent. I love the fact this is a light weight (yet well cushioned) shoe has a rock plate! This shoe is a blast to run in!

over all this is a great shoe; however, I rate it a 4 because of the following - wish for slightly larger lugs for a little more grip - Shoe is slightly too cushiony for my taste and feels tall
