Shorts are great, they were just not for me. The 5 stars is a shout-out to the employees and the excellent customer service from Brooks.

I needed a way to carry my phone while trail running and have easy access to check my location. The shorts work well for this purpose. The pocket could be slightly larger for a iPhone 11 in a case. Plus the the shorts are very comfortable.

I do not write product reviews under most circumstances but this is one of those times I have to say a thing about a thing. Having owned last seasons Sherpa 7" 2in1 and both of this seasons Sherpa 2in1 5" and 7" all I can say is wow. First to address the phone pocket. Last seasons Sherpa 7" 2in1 with the sub standard sized phone pocket in the liner was a joke. I am happy to report this issue has been rectified and the phone pocket will hold an iPhone 11 MAX with plenty room to zip up. The waist pockets are so well places and can hold small water bottles and plenty of gel shots and energy consumables for long runs. This short is the best thing on the market today for long road runs, or trail runs. But.... The liner has some issues. I have a pair of the 7" 2in1 in which the liner is coming apart at the crotch after only 10 runs in them. I will see how the other three pair I have hold up, but so far this is not a deal breaker.

Received these shorts today and tried them out. Really impressed - specifically the zippered phone pocket. I have seen pockets implementing the inner liner requiring to lift the outer shell, but these shorts actually stitch the outer shell with the liner so when using the zippered pocket you're actually placing it into a pocket on the liner. This means the phone will sit snugly against your thigh minimizing bouncing. The other pockets ( 4 more) are also quite large and stretchy where you can fit just about anything you would need on a run. This is a winners of far. I'll update later when i get some miles in to see if my opinion changes.

I have tried many (many) different running shorts but these are by far the best - yes, they are pricey, but well worth it - I have 3 pairs now. Perfect front / side zippered pocket for phone (no bouncing), lightweight, side / hip pocket for snacks, just the right length plus a smooth no-seam lining. I was reluctant to buy the first pair given the price but they are seriously worth it

Brooks knows running so it's no surprise that they also know how to design running shorts. The most comfortable I have ever worn. Love the fit, love the 2-in-1 with the liner. The perfect side pocket fits my iPhone snugly with easy access. I can leave my flip belt home with these shorts. Have both lengths 5" and 7". Both fit perfectly. Also great additional easy-access pockets. Highly recommend.

I found these running shorts to be just what I was looking for in many aspects. The fit was just right with the liner nice and snug, but not tight. The outer shell was loose allowing air flow to help keep me cool. The side, mesh pockets are exactly what I wanted, allowing me to carry enough fuel to last about 20 miles. Moreover, they are solid enough to mitigate contents flopping around, but loose enough so as to various size contents. The construction of these running shorts is quite strong. Thick material leads me to believe they will last quite a lot time. After buying one pair and trying them out on a few runs ranging from 5 miles on a bike path to over 30 miles on a trail, I was so pleased and impressed I bought 9 more pairs. I will most likely buy more, because once I find a pair that works I stock up!

I got these specifically because they had the boxer brief and More importantly, lots pocket space, including a phone pocket. There are 3 smaller pockets around the waist band that are large enough to carry plenty of gels for a marathon. I'm not sure I would trust my ID, money or credit card in these pockets though. They advertise that there is a zipper pocket for the phone, what they don't tell you is that while the zipper is on the outer shorts, the actual pocket is on the briefs. This is kind of nice because it means the phone won't bounce around. I was able to fit my iphone12 Pro in the pocket, without much issue. You might be able to fit a wider phone, but the zipper is going to make it difficult. I definitely don't think I could have fit a Iphone 12 Max or my phone with a large case. I bought a pair of these as well as the ones with a 7" inseam. I liked these a little more because it had a shorter boxer brief, but the other ones seems to have more room for a larger phone.

Big fan of the pockets. I wouldn?t wear these for long runs. I like them for shorter runs, 10K and under, a little bulky for longer runs IMO. Also, nice to have if you are doing something after a run: Meeting up with people, drinks, etc.

Great, comfortable fit for everyday wear. Fits an iPhone XR. Some bounce when running but close to perfect. In comparison, these shorts have less bounce than the Patagonia's shorts I own and are more comfortable than my Lululemon shorts. Overall, best + most comfortable shorts I have found to run with a large iPhone

Brooks got this right! There are 4 open-top pockets that can hold 1 or 2 gels each?no more flap over the top getting in the way. The right side zip packet is large enough for my Moto G cell phone, and is more accessible than a pocket on the liner. The waistband is like the Cascade?wide and very comfortable. And the boxer brief fits like the prior model 7? Sherpa and Cascade for no-chafing relaxed support. I?d been hoping for a 5? Sherpa like this. Only one very minor quibble: the pull for the right side zipped packet sometimes rubs against my hand. Highly recommended!

Great short! So comfortable. My only thing is the fabric drying. They stay wet for hours and hours after the run. My old shorts dried very quickly, but these brooks are totally worth it even with the fabric not drying as quick. Again, super comfortable! Great storage!
