I travel a fair bit, and some folks would call me a road warrior. So over the years I've had a lot of different mugs. Thankfully I found Stanley thermos' many years ago, and mine are still strong and reliable (1 liter and 2 liter). When I found this mug, I was excited because I've become accustomed to the high quality of their thermos'. I have had this mug for a few months now, and I have been thrilled with the quality, and ability to keep my coffee hot for so long. That is until two days ago. I was having a conversation, with my mug in my hand and gesturing. One of the folks I was chatting with said, "you're spilling", I was in disbelief! My reliable mug, spilling! Low and behold, upon further inspection, I found that the little rubber D shaped gasket that seals the drink hole was missing! We looked all through the dishwasher and sink for it, but it is gone. I looked on the Stanley website and couldn't find the part for sale, so I called customer service, and to my pleasant surprise, Stanley is sending out a replacement at no charge!! I've got to say, it is such a pleasure to find a great company, making great products, who also provides great customer service!! I am and will remain, a Stanley customer for life. Well done Stanley!!!
ps, after reading some of the reviews on here, I am confused what the folks are talking about with the button, I'm hard on stuff, but haven't had any issue with the button!

I bought my mug in 2013 and this is the ONLY mug I use still!. It goes EVERYWHERE wit me-hunting,fishing, hiking! I've dropped it off moutains while hiking, it fell 50-60 yrs down a moutain and after sending my husband down after IT.. (lol) when he returned IT worked flawless! ..No leaks, coffee still hot, outer shell just had a few small dents ...LOVE IT! ...
Going on 4 yrs I only need to replace the cap. My STANLEY CLASSIC ONE HAND VACUUM MUG 16OZ is the best mug ever!

My husband works in the trucking industry and frequently has to travel to do damage estimates on the big rigs. He takes one of these (we have 3) with him wherever he goes and it has been known to keep his coffee hot ALL DAY. It's pretty amazing. We've lost the little, rubber stopper off one of the lids and he broke another lid when it fell off a big truck from a very high distance, but the mug, itself was not damaged, at all. Not even a dent. I've ordered replacement lids, hopefully they'll come soon.

Love it! No leaks. Keeps my coffee hot until I refill it out of my Stanley thermos. My only complaint is that I knocked it over and the chipped near where you drink out of it. Otherwise I will never own another travel mug!

I use this mug whether I'm hunting when there is snow on the ground or when I'm walking to class. Keeps my coffee hot for hours! Best mug I have ever owned and plan to buy several more. I hope Stanley never stops making it!

Best thermos I have had. Keeps my coffee hot for a good long time. I actually put a bit more milk in than I used to, or it is still too hot to drink an hour or two after I fill it. I am a scoutmaster, and I like that I can have my coffee on campouts and it stays nice and hot from start to finish. I am a mechanical engineer and I like the design.
Bought one for my son too. He takes his on campouts too.
I do want to buy a replacement top for mine. The center internal part that screws in and retains the large compression spring developed a crack and recently failed.
Thanks,
Tom

In a previous review of this product I stated that it leaked and I would not recommend it. The problem was actually mine. The components of the lid were not aligned correctly. I rewashed the mug and realigned everything and it works perfectly. Just a tip, after washing make sure the lid pieces fit together as designed. It will work beautifully. This mug works so well, I can fill it with coffee and throw it in my purse. If I knew how to delete my last review I would. I am now the proud owner of yet another wonderful Stanley product.

This vacuum mug truly does not leak, period. It holds a vacuum for hours; my experience is that coffee is still hot, not just kinda warm, but hot four hours in. Incredibly simple to use, too. It is the perfect combination of super performance with extremely simple ease of use.

I had this mug for several years and was always so impressed with how it kept coffee hot all day long. I was devastated when I had lost the little drinking seal and thought I had lost my fav mug!! BUT...I contacted the customer service and within a day they sent me a seal at no expense to me!!!! What other company stands behind their products like that? Stanley is awesome. My advice is to just be careful when disassembling the lid for cleaning and be mindful of the seal. It doesn't come off easily but it can come off if your not careful.

I just snagged one of these from Goodwill for a dollar and twelve cents. Looks brand new. I knew the second I saw it, that I'd keep this mug for as long as I didn't lose it.

The mug keeps coffee hot for a long time. Never leaks! I love it! The soup mug is next!
I do have one problem...The push button and spring fell off. The mug still works perfect.
But, I am now pushing the little piece behind the button.

I have three of these cups. 1-20oz and 2-16oz. MY wife, son and I use them everyday and they go everywhere. My only issue is the push button on the lid. I don't know if its the constant use and they wear out or not. We hand wash and rinse them after each use. I've replaced the lids before and will as needed. Stanley has lived up to the warranty so far and I just make the best of it until the replacement lid arrives. Never had a gasket problem yet. It's the Ultimate Coffee Cup.

I have had my mug for over a year with zero issues. This thing blows away the Yeti mug everyone is using. Most of my friends have switched from Yeti to this one because it holds the heat for longer and the lid is awesome.

It does not leak and it keeps coffee scalding hot on my 5 mile bike commute down to -50 wind chill in Fargo ND. You better sip it cause it's going to be as hot as when you poured it. I'm not surprised I carried a Stanley thermos bottle for thirty years. rock solid product.

I bought my husband this mug a few months ago and he instantly loved it! Unfortunately for some reason after this last time I took it apart for cleaning the lid won't seal properly but he still uses it!

The mug is really good. In terms of build quality it is hard to imagine it getting much better. Other than the lid it is all metal and retains heat really well.
I did hit the problem where when opening the lid/taking it apart the rubber gasket comes off. This is only a problem if you disassemble the lid to clean it. You'll see a few people hit this issue. It is the soft plastic where the liquid comes out. It is "soft plastic" so it is easy to generate enough friction to get it off. If you don't notice it is small and you'll lose it down the drain. Anyway I was pretty concerned about this because it happened a couple of times, and 2/4 mugs were DOA, and I really liked the mugs so I was frustrated. I had jumped the gun and left a negative review. After I found I could contact them, I did, and at no charge they sent me out two rubber gaskets which took a couple of days to arrive. I didn't have to prod them and they were quite nice about it. Honestly I can't imagine another company being this responsive to their customers that sell mugs. But it makes a lot of sense given that they probably cost about 5cents and the mug is worth a lot more than that. That is pretty cool anyway to get this service. If you look at the other comments (negative) they generally respond and my experience is if people reach out they'll take care of the issue. Unfortunately there isn't a way I can find to remove the negative review. So I am kicking off a new one. But I wanted to highlight this fact that you can buy the mug with confidence. Unless you abuse it would seem you can rest assured they'll stand behind the product. It is way better than most mugs I have tried. From a screw lid that doesn' t loosen over time the dimensions are great and the quality is amazing.

This mug is almost perfect! The achilles heel of this mug is the cap by all means but that isn't saying much against it. If the cap is damaged in any way it can become unattractive or useless. I've owned three of these over past few years and the only problem I've ever had came from the cap landing first into concrete. The ugliness isn't much of a big deal in many work situations but I'm not working in such places. Aesthetics is kind of important to my job. Therefore, I've never thrown a Stanley product into the recycling or waste bin but have rather given these mugs to other people. Otherwise, if you're competent and are familiar with cleaning mechanical parts (inside the cap) without losing pieces then this is an absolutely fabulous mug that will last years and years.

I received my Stanley 16 ounce about 6 weeks ago. This is a phenomenal piece of gear! It's the best at keeping cool things cold, and hot things hot. It is better than advertised. I consider mine indispensable and will never be without it. I may get the 20 oz also. If you don't have one of these - you need to get one now. (Or two) :-)

Got in fall of 2015, keep coffee hot as long as it claims and drinkable even longer. It's pretty tough it's taken a few 20 falls onto concrete couple small dents in bottom and one small chip on the lid. This thing even made it though a switch grass fire sort of melted the sticker that says stanley (sort of) and plastic lid was pretty hot it now has a custom finger print on the bottom to drink. Only two grips and they are minor bottom takes a little "breaking in" she is a little stiff when new, and every once in a while (even pre falls and fire) when drink it will just decide to Dribble on you when drinking so make sure that button is in all they way seem to happen more often if it's half depressed

I love this mug, my coffee stays hot for hours. But if you lose the little rubber piece that goes on the plunger, it makes the mug useless. And I can't get anyone to understand what rubber piece I am talking about. It goes to the part that sticks up.

I bought a similar version of this mug in 2013. It lasted 3 years of daily use, never leaked, always kept my coffee hot. Ultimately my clumsiness did it in (dropping it on concrete, cracking the lid). The model I bought had been discontinued, but Stanley stands by it's lifetime warranty. Since they could not send a new part they sent this mug as a replacement. I love it even more than the original and highly recommend it. With Stanley you get quality goods and excellent customer service!!

I bought one of these for each member of my family after I'd used mine for a few months. I read the reviews and was aware of the possibility of losing the small, plastic gasket that seals the drinking hole. This can happen when the cap is taken apart for cleaning. Sure enough, my son in Japan lost his. I cannibalized mine and gave him the part when I visited recently, then emailed Stanley when I got home last week. The replacement came in the mail today, no charge. The mug fits in my car's drink receptacle, doesn't leak, cleans easily, and keeps drinks hot or cold for many hours. Just pay attention to the gasket when you're cleaning it. If you do lose the gasket, Stanley will replace it for free.

I've had mine for around a year and its awesome I use it every day. It definitely keeps my coffee hot! usually I have to wait a few hours after brewing to drink it. This thing is almost bullet proof, I ran over my first one with the tractor (not recommended) I had to replace it right away, its that good!
