Compared to other Merrell boots I own I did size down half a size and they're perfect! Comfortable and warm. Love them!

I gave these 4 stars instead of 5 because I have yet to wear them outside. I bought them for the sole purpose of ending winter... and it worked. I have put them on and they fit. I had read other reviews saying the sizing is toward the large size. I wear 9 1/2 to 10 so I went ahead and bought the 9 1/2. Fit seems great, not too big but plenty of room for warm socks. Now I can't wait for next winter. Oh wow when I just went to agree to TOS to post this I see that Merrell is affiliated with Wolverine. I have a pair of those that I also love dearly. Bonus review!

Put on my boots for the first time and went for a two hour walk! No discomfort at all! Size is true. Boot is as attractive as a winter hiking boot can be.

Love the width width. Very comfortable and super waterproof. Arch support is somewhat less than my other Merrells but walked a solid half day without any issues.

Love the look and traction. They're sturdy so that makes them a bit rigid and plan to wear thick socks to avoid blisters.

Excellent boots! Keep your feet warm and dry. The soles give good traction even on icy terrains.
Since I have sensitive feet and ankles, I've had to deal with some rubbing on the sides of my ankles and toes requiring moleskine for protection.

Love my new hiking boots , fit is good, slightly loose around mid foot , but no blistering formation on heel. Work great in the mountains , hiked in snow , great traction!

I'm giving these a 4 star because I haven't hiked in them yet. I have been wearing Merrell's for years and years and except the Siren Sport that runs small, I always wear a 10.5 M women's. When I ordered them wasn't sure how comfortable the top of the boot would be with the height.
Right out of the box true to size, comfortable, and the top of the boot fits like a glove. The top does not pinch at all. I'm amazed how comfortable the top is. The boot part fits perfect. I ordered my regular Merrell size. Can't wait to get them out on the trail and in the snow.

Warm and comfortable right out of the box. Wish the arch support was as good as some of my other Merrill's. It just isn't.

I wish they had more arch support and were a little narrower, but they kept my feet nice and toasty on my 4 mile hike uphill in 5" of snow, and I didn't slip once with the arctic grip soles! And no blisters on their first day out, which is great. Looking forward to trying them with snowshoes after the next storm.

I ordered these boots online and went 1/2 a size up for thick socks but it wasn't necessary. These boots run big have have a very spacious foot bed, however, I do have narrow feet. I went a 1/2 size up but wish I hadn't. The shoe is plenty wide on the leg and ankles. I've been hiking on dirt trails and snow for about a month, about 4 or 5 miles at a time. It's kind of hard to get them to tighten up on my foot, they fit very loose but they are still comfortable to hike in. I wear them with thick socks and my feet stay warm. There weren't any reviews when I bought these boots. Go with your true size!

Got these and tried them on but have to return immediately because of sizing. They seem super comfy, toasty, and stylish, so I'm hoping my new size fits.
I'm a size 6.5 with very wide feet, so I usually wear a size 7.5 or 7 boots. Ordered the size 7.5 so I'd have room for a big sock. Don't size up for socks! The 7.5 fits more like an 8.5, so order your true size -.5 to 1 size down. I just ordered a size 6. I would also say it fits on the wide side.
I like that the insole is removable for wide feet or people who don't want a ton of cushion! The footbed is still nicely lined and stitched under the insole.

I use these for winter hiking. The problem I encountered was that the lower inside edge of the tongue rubbed against the tops of my feet. I remedied this by skipping the boot lacing in that area. Of course, that makes the boot a bit loose. I contacted customer service about this issue and received a polite "please let us know what we can do to help" response. Nothing they can do but I wish they had paid attention to the design flaw I described.

I've been on 4 hikes with these boots. They are warm and comfortable, easy to hike in. None of that rub around the lower leg that boots can give you. They also look great. Now the downside. They are waterproof but only in shallow usage. In other words, stream crossing of any depth will be a wet experience because the tongue area up...cloth. I haven't experienced wearing them in snow but I imagine wet snow conditions for any period of time will result in damp ankles. But here is the worst: they pull your socks down. I've worn four different pairs of socks trying to give the boot the benefit of doubt. Only when I wore knee high socks did I manage to keep the socks up. I think it is the inside material that is causing this. If you need a boot to shovel the drive or wear around town, this boot will do. For serious terrain and snow shoeing...not so much

My husband bought this for me because I was going to accompany him hunting. He told me they were fully waterproof. They were not. Early morning stepping across some rocks n the water. Foot got wet. I was not concerned because I thought I was wearing waterproof boots. There are little sections of mesh that are in between that waterproof membrane and my feet were wet all day. They are great boots for sure but if you want some thing that is fully waterproof That you can submerge them in water and still have dry feet they are not that.

I have wide feet and sometimes if i size up size its ok. I returned these because they cut in at the arch of my feet and it was uncomfortable to stand/walk in them. They were nice looking boots and good quality. The return was very easy.

Really no frills. Returned it right away. There are other boots out there that have comfortable lining, more support that are the same cost. Didn’t feel like it’s worth the money. Returned right away

Very comfortable boots...and warm. No break-in period. I do not recommend paying full price though. I had to wash mine after only wearing them twice because I wore them caving, and they are coming apart at the toe and heel. Size wise, I'd say they run just a little big. I ordered a size 10, which is what I typically wear in running shoes, since I also planned to wear thicker socks, but they were a little too big. Returned for a 9.5 which was perfect with thick socks and offered more stability.

Wanted these to protect my weak ankles for a CO 14er, but they were not supportive, so back they went. I did find a pair of Solomon’s that are very supportive, though lightweight and great traction, but these Merrill’s probably weren’t made for the rugged terrain, just inclement conditions.
