I wanted to love these. They are my first pair of Hokas and I think the overall aesthetic and early days performance was just what I was looking for (although I always developed blisters on the balls of my feet after every run, could be unique to my feet though). Now that I have tracked around 100 miles in these I've noticed the foam under the balls of my feet is looking pretty ripped up and the cushioning doesn't have as much bounce as those early days (starting to feel it in my knees). For reference I am 6'0'' 185lbs. Im a heel striker but I run on the balls of my feet on any incline, which is where Ive noticed the most damage to the foam/outsoles.. Im certainly no featherweight but I would expect the shoes to hold together a little better, especially at this price point. These are in my rotation and not the only shoe I run in. I run 2-3 times a week, usually 7 miles with a few (1-2) 14+ mile runs a month. I haven't had blister issues with other shoes/brands. The Clifton Edges aren't bad shoes by any means, they are lightweight and you can certainly get some solid miles out of them. I think Hokas are genuinely some of the best shoes on the market. I may have just not found my perfect pair yet. I picked these because of the cushioning and the aesthetic, but I wish they would last a bit longer, probably have only ~50 more miles before I risk hurting my knees.

Love Hoka's! However the Clifton Edge, is not the shoe for me. They felt like the drop was more shallow than published. The wide edge and rear section caused me to drag and scuff, due to my not so perfect run form. That wide perimeter was somewhat uncomfortable walking up/down stairs. Downhill runs caused knee pain, and after 3 runs, these showed significant wear patterns, like a shoe that was 6-12 months old. Returned under Hoka's excellent 30 day return policy.

I have worn hoka for a couple shoe cycles now, and I was really excited by the new design on this shoe. They felt really good (though not spectacular) but after one run the rubber on the bottom was already peeling. After 60 miles, they were worn down enough that I slid on some steep roads. Altogether, fine shoe but too much money for the durability.

There is a built in tongue that was super uncomfortable for my wide foot.

These shoes are light and comfortable, but they did not fit me well. After walking in then around the house, I began to feel some pain around my upper heel in the Achilles area and some slight knee pain. The discomfort amplified when running. So as much as I wanted to keep these shoes, they are not for me. I do recommend giving them a try, they are very cushy.

The shoes felt great and helped with my ankle issues, but after running on hot pavement with a mixture of alot of elevation gains and losses, the shoes wore down too fast. Only 100 miles in. Would only recommend for low mileage runners.

I use the Clifton Edge for road running. I historically have been running with the Clifton when not trail running. For some reason I the Edge has made my heel feel tender and the arch sore. I have put about 100 miles on my pair since purchase a few weeks ago. I cycle through running shoes regularly so may wait for the next model before trying again.

After only a few miles the tongue was cutting into both of my ankles, I've switched to wearing taller socks. I've never had this issue ever before with any running show brand.

These are well designed and solidly produced shoes! Unfortunately, I had to return them. Wearing these shoes brought on great hip pain, recurrent lower back pain, and a severe flare-up of plantar fasciitis in my body. But, if you're not prone to any of these maladies, and if you don't supinate, then I suspect these would be wonderful shoes for you.

If it were not for the fact they wear out so fast in the sole I would keep buying them for the amazing comfort . I literally have less than 100 miles on my latest pair and the heel is worn down. Its only with my last two pair that I have had this problem so something has changed.

I have been running in Hoka's for years and have been relatively happy. For the last year or two I have been running in Clifton 6s. When buying a new pair, I tried the Clifton Edge. On the left shoe, I could feel a crease in the bottom of the inside of the shoe, below the insole. I had found a similar issue with a a pair or Rincons previously. What was more challenging was the new design of the shoe began rubbing my ankle. It was odd because it was only my right ankle. I tried to tough it but after 4 runs and about 32 miles I had a big scab and bruise on my ankle. I have broken my ankle many years ago and had Achilles tendon surgery on it years ago so I know my gait is a bit off but I never had this problem with any other Clifton or Hoke shoe. I was forced to return this shoes and have requested a Clifton 7 instead of the Edge. I am a bit concerned that I may have the same issue (I have always run in Clifton 5 and 6 previously).

I thought I was going to like these but the fit isn't close enough to the cliftons to have the same name. The inside heel cup feels totally different and I'm not a fan of the flat, non cushioned tongue. Seems more responsive than the Clifton 6 but less cushion. The colors on the shoe are great and it's a nice change from the usual Hoka color scheme. (I got the black/white/lime) I will not be getting another pair.

Stats - male, 5'11, 190lbs. 20 years running, 5k-marathons. I've been a Hoka fan since trying my first pair of Clifton 1's back in 2014. Hoka has been frustrating me off and on since then. They are a company that has a lot of misses with a few hits occasionally sprinkled in. I was hoping that these would be another "hit", unfortunately for me they were not. Starting with the good stuff - upper material was great, light weight and breathable. Color scheme was pretty sharp (black and yellow version). As anyone familiar with Hoka can attest to - satisfying color schemes seem to be extremely challenging for their designers. I often think they try too hard and should stick to the old K.I.S.S. adage, but I digress. The Edge fit was good - maybe a touch snug, but they're new so I was giving them the benefit of the doubt. That's where the good ended. On my first run (6 miles) I could tell immediately that these did not have the same Hoka Clifton feel that I've grown to love. I'm a mid-foot runner, and maybe these would work strictly for a heavy heel striker. For me though, I could not see any benefit from having the extended heel area and increased all-around surface area. I felt they should have put the cushioning "under" the shoe instead all around the edges, where much of it wasn't even being utilized. I've run in the Clifton 1(still the best Hoka IMHO), Clifton 2, 3, and 6 - and have liked them all. The Edge simply was not worth keeping for me - especially at $160.00. I thought they should put the upper on the old Clifton platform - and low and behold I recently discovered that the Clifton 7 appears to be that basic design...so I already pre-ordered a pair (even though, once again, good color schemes seem to escape the designers' grasps). Here's to hoping the Clifton 7 can be almost as good as the original! Maybe Hoka should just swallow their pride and re-release the original a second time - give the people what they want!!!

I walk 3 miles every morning. I have owned approximately 10 pairs of hokas and this pair is the only disappointing pair as they are not comfortable.

I ordered these for my brother and the speed goat. He said the Clifton edge were uncomfortable not as cushy as the speed goat. also they run long. He always runs in a size 10.5 and his foot runs on the narrow side but not narrow enough for a narrow width. The clifton edge 10.5 fits more like an 11 or even an 11.5 in the length. Needless to say he kept the speed goat & bought a second pair; and the clifton edges were returned. He didnt even run in the clifton edge he could tell right out of the box just walking in the house after a few steps how uncomfortable and unusually long they were. the hoka shoe finder suggested the clifton edges for him. the salesmen at running fit recommended the speed goats.
