I got a pair of these S/LAB ULTRA 3's a few weeks before my most recent 50K race, and they fit great right away. This is another great shoe from Salomon, and really good on rough, muddy, and rocky trails. Outsole provides fantastic traction. And I like the integrated gaiter which allows the shoe to fit snugly around your ankle (makes it a bit harder to put on, but worth it when out on trails with loose gravel and sand). Always love my Salomon's!

First run 17 mile mixed terrain and felt perfect . No problems for me regarding the lacing system and shoe fit like a glove.
The sizing compared to my usual sense ride came a little larger and had to size down half a size. So glad I tried something new on this occasion though. A real game changer for me. Light, bouncy, supportive and grippier than the sense ride. I'm contemplating another pair already just in case they sell out. Bravo Salomon!

Super comfortable! A little tricky to get on compared to your normal running shoe but this is not your normal running shoe. The socklike gaiter seals the shoe from dirt and debris wonderfully. For me the lace pouch works great. Haven't had any issues. Just take my time lacing and make sure it's exposed when I tighten at the top. These babies are like a Snuggie for your foot. A Snuggie you wear when you want to enter the pain cave. Or the bliss cave. You decide. This shoe will take you anywhere.

I've had these for about 4 months and done mostly snow runs in CO and they seem to be holding up great so far. Just did a 50k trail race in Fruita and they worked perfectly. The new sock like gator is a nice new feature but does make them a bit more tricky to get on. Keeps the dirt out however very nicely. All in all, they are very comfortable and look sweet. No hot spots or weird pressure points that came in the other Ultra series shoes

The S/LAB ULTRA 3 is, in my opinion, the best trail shoe that Salomon offer. It's exceptionally light. The outer and traction profile are appropriate for both moderately aggressive trails, as well as brief periods of time on more firm surfaces. There has been much discussion about Salomon's lacing and lacing retention systems, but they absolutely nailed it in this shoe. Overall, a wonderful shoe that I go to frequently for runs of all distances.

Started wearing Salomon trainers about 2 years ago. Outstanding footwear that have never disappointed. I own Sense Ride 3s and Speedcross 3 and 4s. All super comfortable and great to walk/run in.
These Ultra 3s are next level and are probably the best footwear I've ever ran in. Fit is unreal and ready to go straight out of the box. Unbelievable comfort with great grip.
One thing I would like is the option of more colours. The purple is decent but I would prefer a dark blue or black.
Keep up the great work Salomon.

Great design. Lightweight for a trail shoe. Snug around the opening. Quickly became my favorite shoe.

3 weeks in and loving the comfort of the Ultra 3. I have now had two 30+ km mountainous runs and a couple of shorter test runs. Comfort is phenomenal with no pressure points and a nice snug fit. The sock entry prevents having to over tighten the laces once on too. The grip is good on all but super muddy terrain. What sets them apart for me is the feel of the terrain you get, they perform like a lightweight but without the harshness of a race shoe if that makes sense. I am a size UK 9 in all shies such as Nike, Scarpa and I would say these are true to the size unlike some years ago when sizing up half a size was the case. Too marks and hoping the upper is more durable than on some previous models.

I wasn't really sure about these on my first few long runs but have ended up really liking them for longer distances. I normally run in the XAs or Wildcross but these are a great shoe for less technical terrain and more miles. Not as wide in the toe as the Wildcross but very comfortable after a long day all the same.

Prior to purchasing the Ultra 3's I had the Ultra 2's. The 2's were a great shoe and I got great mileage out of them, but for me the upper was prone to cracking on the sides. The 3's are a big step up, the sockliner makes them super comfy from the first wear & keeps out debris as an added bonus. The upper is the main difference though, I've done big mileage in them prior to this review and its bombproof, so much so I actually reckon by the time I'm ready to get another pair the sole will be well worn and the upper will be in perfect nick! They look super cool too :)

Was a little sceptical buying the shoe due to price point but it definitely offers SO much. Right out the box did 13 miles and it was like wearing a cushioned pair of socks, snug fit, felt natural and no hot spots or issues. They did dye my grey socks a reddish/purple so I'd avoid wearing light socks the first few times. Living in MN I'd been running with yaktrax most of winter but these I didn't actually need to wear them. The lugs and rubber are grippy on hard pack snow and some ice which I was very excited about. After running in the Sense Ride for years this was a fun fresh update! Looking forward to my ultra in April in them.

Salomon always seems to do well with their S/LAB range. This shoe is no exception. The Fit: I typically wear a Nike Pegasus trail in a US10. The US9.5 in the ULTRA 3 fit perfectly.
Feel: low-profile shoe with excellent comfort. The sock-like inner is snug but stretchy. The grip on the sole is fantastic (but Salomon trail shoes have always had good grip).
Definitely recommend this shoe for someone looking for 50km-100km per week on trail.

It feels like wearing gloves on your feet! Very comfortable and responsive, it's a huge improvement compared to the Ultra 2. I hope they are just as durable. I would reposition the pocket for the lace system a fraction higher so that it does not interfere with the laces.

I'm very happy with this purchase. These are comfortable shoes indeed. They feel light and yet, after 100+ miles of rough Arizona trails, appear to be sturdy and durable (so far).

I've had this since Fall 2020 and have logged quite a few long trail and mountain runs here in Scotland. I love the shoe and think it is one of the best all-around trail shoes I've tried. Fit is excellent, durability so far seems great, and most importantly I feel just as good in them deep into a long run as I do at the start. The only place I don't feel good in them is on more technical scrambles but they aren't really meant for this.

I love the SLab Ultra and I am really happy with the update on the 3's. I love the sock-like fit on this shoe. It does a great job in keeping your foot nice and snug, and also keeping the rocks out. Because l have a higher arch, I use a shoe horn to get the shoe on (this preserves the back of the shoe). It's no big deal, we already did this for my son's slip on skate shoes! Then taking them off are no problem. The shoe does get loser as time goes on. I use this shoe for my long distance runs.

I've had every shoe on this line. This is the perfected model! Love the sock gator. Great side lateral support. Enough cushioning for a 100 mile race. Great on flat to hilly technical trails. It's universals. Please don't change this model!

Fits like a glove instead of a shoe. I hate shoes with soft cushions. This shoe has a great firm cushion that does not aggravate my knee pain. Ran a 25K trail race with 3500 feet of elevation gain in these shoes this weekend. Feet felt great. Wish I could afford to buy another pair because I know S-lab shoes change every year. My only complaint is the cost. Salomon is slowly, but surely, pricing me out of using their shoes.

I bought the S/Lab Ultras 2 months ago and love their performance - i train a lot offroad in the trails around the Chilterns in the UK and they have been amazing re grip in the mud / on inclines but light in weight when on roads / gravel trail

Let me begin by mentioning the best shoes I've ever had are the Speedcross series and it was a very difficult choice buying the S/LAB Ultras over them...but I'm glad I did.
I foolishly took the shoes out of the box and headed straight out for a 15mi trail run in less than stellar conditions. The shoes were comfortable, responsive, had grip (I think speedcross has a little better grip) and when I hit the puddles the shoes drained quickly. I say foolishly because I got the tiniest of blisters on one foot and that I blame on the sensibility of the runner, not the shoe.
Normally when I buy a pair of shoes I have to put several miles on them before they feel good, not these. One step out the door and I was convinced.
Now the negatives: I don't think they got the tongue pocket quite right on this pair. The opening is under the laces so when I tighten the shoe I have to dig around for it. This is annoying.
I read another review about the shoes turning white socks purple. This happened to me too but I'm trail running and I can't keep a white pair of socks white on those trails so it's really no issue.
To summarize: I love the shoes. Very comfortable. If you change the tongue pocket they'd be even better.
