If you're not moving your upper body, this jacket is amazing. But if you lift your arms up at your head level, the jacket restricts your movement. If you lift your forearm to touch your head, it restricts your movement. XL is my size and that's what I got. Still it is having a hard time with movement.
I know over time, this jacket would be my least worn and then donated, so I am returning it.

Getting this led me to pulling out my same jacket from the closet and wearing it frequently.
The sleeves are way too long and lack the velcro cuff of the original.

The North Face Apex Bionic has been a decent jacket for the price for years.
But it has changed a bit over the last few years and may no longer be the jacket for everyone.
It is still very water resistant and wind resistant. It can work well for winter activities.
But it has changed in frustrating ways.
1) It no longer has any velcro sleeve cuff enclosures. That is not good for winter activities. It will make so that gloves and the jacket will not work together very well. It also creates sleeves that are too long for many people. The velcro assisted not only in closing the sleeves, but also in keeping the sleeve up and from being too long. It was a very poor change by North Face.
2) These jackets always have an odd neck situation. You try to zip up for skiing and cold weather, but you either need to zip it all the way, or very low. You see the collar is very stiff and will not fold back. This had been a problem, but is worse with the new "improvements." It is frustrating. I try wearing it for skiing and the collar becomes very annoying (worse than previous models). Why not creat fold areas like running shoes have to help the collar fold?
3) The sizing is now off. The medium seems cut too close. I could not layer at all. The large has sleeves that are too long. The women's versions are cut very close the the body. Makes no sense.
4) I could not find a hooded version. Why not? Again, makes no sense.
I cannot understand how The North Face is making decisions, or who they are using as their focus group. Who would make decisions like this to make a jacket worse? Very strange. They should start talking to ordinary skiers who want to wear the jacket.

Zippers and pockets are great. Specially breast one is big enough to handle a 13+ iPhone very comfortable.
Needs to be adjustable shelves.

Nice jacket, but the sleeves are way too long for a standard fit (5'9") medium person (~33 length typically fits me, this must be 35/36). I bought another style NF jacket in the same order, and again, the sleeves are way too long. Must be Northface styling. Unfortunate, as the jackets are nice (though a little bit stiff).

Too firm. Should have been a little flexible and conforming to the body.

I replaced my 20 year old jacket with the same model. I was dissapointed to find that velcro tabs on the sleeves are no longer available. The velcro tabs allowed a more custom feel and put the excess material out of the way when needed.

The was a repurchase for my husband, he had this same style jacket in black that he bought 10 years ago. The arms are way too short and overall the quality seems different. Will not be purchasing mens jackets from TNF anymore. After I bought it I read the reviews and it's a consistent complaint along with the decreased quality. I never would have thought to read them having owned this jacket previously. I was looking at buying one for myself but will look at other brands.

Not as well made as previous generation. The jacket no longer.has Velcro tightened on sleeves or draw cord at the waist. Seems like it's a lighter weight as well.

The design is fine and the quality seems to be good, as per usual with the North Face. But the sizing with these just seems to be off. A small was a bit tight, but a medium was wide with extremely long sleeves. Too long. Very odd.

Maybe I was expecting too much from this jacket, it wasn't as warm as I was expecting. Its somewhere between a light and medium jacket. Its best for a sunny, but cool day.

Jacket arrived with different colored logo. The picture shows white, but mine was dark blue on a dark blue jacket so you can hardly see the logo. Style isn't everything, but the jacket looks pretty plain with a camouflaged logo. Jacket should be exactly what I ordered.

It's a nice looking jacket. However, it didn't work for my husband. We expected this as soft as his fleece, but it wasn't. Unfortunately, we had to return. It's been weeks since I brought this to the post office, but I haven't heard anything or received refund from you

The material is windproof and water resistant, but at the same time the material makes the jacket quite stiff. The sleeve length is just way too long. I might return it.

Looking to replace my old soft shell that started to show wear (after 15 years or so). But there is nothing soft about this jacketthe outer shell feels like cardboard (perhaps the recycled materials?). Just doesn't have the same feeling of being light and soft both inside and out. Had to return it.

In terms of the usage the jacket is what I was looking for. A great windbreaker that can get you from the car to a door without leaving you frost bit in the dead of winter. The material and weight is great.
Gripes! I order and expected to get the navy with white/silver logo. Instead I was sent navy with teal like logo, sent it back after speaking with rep and them informing id get what I ordered in return. Next jacket was Navy with Navy logo. Disappointed, blown and mad. I kept it but it's not what I ordered nor wanted!

After owning various renditions of this jacket over the last 15 years, I am no longer able to wear this coat.
I have always fit comfortably in the XL size but revisions to the style now have restricted the upper arms and shoulders and shortened the arm length. The "standard" cut of this jacket is no longer accommodating to an athletic build.

This product is just "Okay". In comparison to my Columbia one, that one was way more comfortable. The NF jacket you could tell was made with recycled materials as it was very stiff and noisy. The only advantage it has over the Columbia jacket that was $100+ cheaper was the wind protection is better. I wouldn't pay this much money for it as there are cheaper alternatives.

I really like the look and feel of the fabric used for this jacket. It does a nice job of keeping the wind out and is a nice looking jacket. It's actually quite warm, considering the fact that its a relatively light jacket. There is a major problem, however, with the design. There is no adjustable cuff. My old North Face Pamir Windstopper jacket, which is my favorite jacket, has adjustable cuffs. I knew this one didn't when I made the purchase and was just hoping it would work out. The sleeves seem to hang a little too low and if it had the ability to tighten up a bit, it would be perfect. If they added an adjustable strap, this jacket would be near perfect.
