When I tighten the shoe, it hurts across the top and the opposite side of my arch.

Very narrow for a wide. I usually get regular width in some brands and wide in others, however, I have never had a wide shoe feel uncomfortably narrow. This is unfortunate because I was really looking forward to getting some Hokas. Had to return immediately.

Got my pair and the right pair was good and the left one was all wonky. The tongue was shorter and wasn't straight.

These are not as good as earlier Cliftons, like the 4 and 6. Hoka has narrowed the midfoot of the shoe. There is a ridge in the midfoot which causes pressure and pain. I had to stop wearing them. Until Hoka widens the midfoot like earlier versions, I'll have to switch back to Brooks. Style is poor, not many good colors in wide widths. I just tried a Clifton 8 with the same results so I am returning them. It's too bad because I loved the early versions of the Clifton and Bondi, but this change in width does not work for me (I have a wide forefoot and midfoot).
I'd also recommend:
Brooks Ghost, Brooks Glycerin.

Stylish, super nice fit, way to small on my feet. I wear a 10 in sneakers buy my foot was completely squished in these. Tight on the top and the sides of my feet. I'm going to try again a half a size up and in a wide. Seem like a great shoe if they fit, but they're very narrow.

Have had several pairs of Hokas including several sets of Cliftons and have been very satisfied until I got these Clifton 7s. After 3 months of use the fabric and foam in the heel cup of both shoes is disintegrating. Never happened before. Also, glue for some of the heel rubber has failed. I’m not putting a ton of miles on these shoes. This experience has me really questioning Hoka’s quality going forward.

I've been running in Hoka's since the Clifton 1, and I love them, but I'm beginning to feel like I'm not getting the same mileage out of them. I know my body changes over time, but I've stayed relatively consistent over the years weight/body type wise. I love the feel but I'm just wearing through them left and right. I may start to explore something that I can get more mileage out of.

the shoes are good. I tried a pair at scheels before ordering @Zappos. But ZAPPOS mess it up by sending me an 11.5EE when my order was clearly a 12.5EE

The heel lock is minimal, and sits very low on the ball of the heel so as the sole compresses there is a friction with this (mall & low) heel lock. Returned shoes unfortunately.
I'd also recommend:
Asics (for wide feet)

The shoes cushion well and are decent against the manufactures claim of Foot and arch support. Whoever where the shoe disappoints I'm a significant level is within a very short period of time just a month or two after purchase and 15 miles of walking for a week the lining where the heel is on both the right and left side starting to fray and now there is a gaping hole there which is very irritating to the back of my feet. I would like a replacement and wonder what the manufacture will do to stand behind its product?

These shoes are remarkably lightweight. However, they seriously hurt the arches of my feet. I've never had this problem with running shoes beforeI'm 34 and have been running fairly seriously since age 14. I tried to push through and just assume the pain would go away once the shoes were broken in, but it never happened. Too late to return, so I guess they're going to Good Will.

The width of the shoe is narrow and it feels as if I am running on the outside of my foot. Cushioning is great, but unfortunately doesn't matter because the narrow width and uncomfortable fit.

They feel very narrow. It takes a little getting used to the extra cushion too. I only got the medium cushion, I can't imagine the big heel cushion. Not impressed so far!

The shoe sizing run small runs small and not an impressive shoe in terms of being a good fitting one. The return was a simple return policy, the refund was prompt Company is a good one so I am sure that there is a line of footwear that is better at higher price ranges.

Usually wear regular width. NB, Brooks, ASICS regular width fit great. HOKA is very uncomfortable. Cannot wear without hurting. Great design and look but dyfunctional from me.
