The cushion and protection of the torrent is great and feels amazing underfoot, and the traction has never been an issue in them. Similar to the original though, the upper does not hold the foot very well so it feels like im sliding around a bit, especially on the downhills.

Not comfortable for everyday walking around shoes. Fit is good, just not very padded.

wanted a lighter shoe for races than the speedgoat. Used them in the Imogene pass run and the bottom of my feet were killing me after 3 of the 7 miles of decent. So by mile 13. Total sufferfest the last 4 miles just because my feet. They are not good any longer than 10 miles unless you really have tough feet. too hard of a midsole.

Great shoe but hate the miss match sole. It's so UNHOLA like. Wish they would come out and match the soles. I had a hard time deciding but the sole was a huge negative for me.

I really enjoyed these shoes. They provide a healthy amount of cushioning for their responsiveness. Recently purchased a second pair of these after the lugs on the first pair began peeling off at only around 100 miles. Lo and behold the second pair began peeling as well around 100 miles. They both peeled near the heel in multiple locations, and it was bad enough on both to create a trip hazard coming downhill on rocky/rooty NH terrain. I was also surprised at the amount the rubber lugs had worn in that time period. Just use an ounce extra of rubber to connect all the lugs and not create the potential for peel and I'd buy more.

My focus is trail running - moderate distances, 5- 15 miles single track on smooth to rocky trails. Shoes feel somewhat unstable on rockier terrain. Also got tons of pokey grass seeds into socks, heel cup, tongue, etc., on 11-mile run. Probably not shoe issue, per se, but shoes show the problem, with continued pokey seeds and torn-up heel cup and interior surface, trying to remove irritants.

Have worn them a few time and they feel great, but the material glued to the fabric around the lower part of the shoe is coming loose in places

I wear Hoka's everyday because I've lost a lot of cartilage in my left foot. But you cheapened the padding in the heel area and I have to pull the shoe off to fix the shape - after initially putting them on in the morning. The old pair I have was much more secure.
They also work very nicely as a golf because I can't use spikes!

Very comfortable, outsole not very durable.
Good shoe, could use a little more protection from rocks in the footbed and the outsole has a tendency to chunk and be damaged easily.

I’m a little surprised, compared with previous purchase of a Brooks Divide 2 sneaker, by way of make and durability. Hoka came highly recommended and costs more, but I have to give the comparative node to Brooks here.
I'd also recommend:
Brooks

Fore front of this shoe is not sufficient for trail running. Not enough cushioning to protect bottom of the foot.
I'd also recommend:
Same brand, different shoe.

Initially I loved these shoes and got complements on the color but the sole started to wear off only after a few months.

Owned three pairs of the Torrent 1 and would have been happy to keep buying them. The Torrent 2 felt great and handled technical terrain well on long days out. Great traction, comfort and protection, but after about 50 miles the lugs began to tear away from the outsole. At this point, I have very little coverage under the mid-foot. Really disappointing as Torrent 1 was my go-to shoe for all trail running. I will look to competing brands for similar lightweight, deep-lugged outsole trail runner until Hoka figures this out. I hope they do!

I've been running in the previous Torrent shoes for a few pairs now and prefer the older version to the new. I couldn't tell much difference in the ride other than the new version seems slightly narrower. Wish I had just bought another pair of the old version and saved $30.

Wanted a light and fast trail option, something less beefy than my Mafate Speed 2 and more aggressive than my Challenger ATR 5. The Torrent 2 is definitely both of those things, but it's not really a mountain shoe.
Pros: Fast, Light Cons: No rockplate, outsole rubber is not grippy. I always size up a half in my running shoes (10.5 casual, 11 running). These fit most similar to my Rincons and are probably the narrowest Hokas out of those I have run in (Challenger ATR 5 Wide, Clifton 7 Wide, Mafate Speed 2, Evo Mafate, Rincon, Torrent 2)
These move nice and quick on gravel rail trails, buffed out trails, and singletrack. The lack of rockplate is very apparent on rocky and rooty terrain. The outsole rubber is just not sticky, and like another reviewer mentioned, it's actually kind of slippery on wet rock. The lugs are also pretty small. I took these on a 12 mile ridge traverse in NH over technical rocky terrain and I was the only person consistently slipping. I was also the only runner without Vibram on my soles. The difference between this rubber and the Vibram Megagrip on the Mafate Speed and Evo Mafate is night and day. I can confidently run up and down wet slab in those shoes; I'm afraid to even plant one step on wet rock in the Torrent 2 after one outing with them on a damp day.
With all of that being said, this shoe is great for tempo days in the woods and on any terrain really other than more technical rocky running or running on wet rock. I ripped out a pretty good 5 mile course record on a rolly gravelly fireroad in these the first day I wore them. I have put about 120 miles on my Torrent 2 so far and I have not encountered any of the lug peeling issues that other reviewers have mentioned. The upper seems very well constructed and I assume this shoe will go 300+ miles.

Fit is true, nice stability, shoe feels solid. It rises a bit high around my ankles and rubs to the point that it's becoming annoying on downhill portions of runs, uphill its more like support. The cushion is firm which I like. Not great for very rocky trains, not great for slick surfaces like wet roads or bridges. Jury still out, I've gone about 50 miles in them thus far, yesterday being 12 miles. I'd def. recommend trying these out as they have potential

The sizing is wonky, had to go with a size smaller, and still the ankle is way to loose and sloppy. The shoes seems to need a lot of playing around with to get the lacing right and even then the heel feels too loose. Hokas are currently my go to shoe,I love em', I hope they are not moving towards this type of shoe fit!

Not comfortable for running. Not nearly enough cushion. Firm, good grip and good stability, but they hurt my feet.
