I've bought SO MANY pairs of HOKA, and with every purchase I cross my fingers that they will be at least close to the cushion we had with the Clifton 3. I'll never forget going into my local running store to buy the 4, and shocked at the loss of cushion when tryin them on. I looked at the sales lady and she could read my face and knew, saying no they don't have the cushion we are used to. The 7 is no different. Why can't we have the cushion we got with the Clifton 3? It's so frustrating. I've worn them out so badly, the bottom of the shoe is actually slippery now. I replace my Hoka Shoes regularly now. My Clifton 6 is now my back up while my Clifton 7 is the daily walker. I am almost ready to get the Clifton 8, but don't look forward to another bout of disappointment. They will always be better than anything else I have worn, which is why I still give 4 stars and will continue to recommend. It's just hard when you have had the best in the past and know they are capable of making them again, but don't.

Still like design of my original Clifton better. Bright colors, flat tongue and loop in back instead of tab to pull on.

A fun and comfortable shoe. I am not a runner but I do walk quite a bit and find this to be really great!

I have had wonderful experiences with the Bondi 7, but the Clifton 7 just wasn't as cushiony as I am used to with my broken foot. They probably work fine for others, but I had to return the shoes and go back to the Bondi 7.

The Clifton 6 (and prior versions) was marvelous: good fit, good support, not heavy. I saved my pair only for long runs to preserve them. Turns out, Hoka decided to STOP making them, went on to the 7 and then the 8. By then, I needed another pair, so I thought quality can go only up with version number ... WRONG!!! Yes, the 8 is less weight, but it's also far less in the other good qualities. I feel like I'm running in flipflops with a paper covering when I'm in the 8s. So I bought the 7s as a hopeful resort, and while they're not as good as the 6s, they're still much better than the 8s.

I seem to be somewhere between regular width and wide width shoes - the regular (that were recommended on the website based on size of other favorite shoes) is too snug. I will keep since I have already worn them outside but would not purchase again. A previous purchase of wide width allowed my foot to slide around in the toe box.

This is a generally very good shoe. This shoe could be approved upon by designing a more natural toe shape instead of the typical tapered toe. The tapered toe although universally used, is a problem because it pushes the big toe to angle inward from the big toe joint, instead of moving straightforward as is the foots natural movement. Pushing the big toe inward reinforces bunions and makes them worse.

Hokas enabled me to keep walking with a mild case of plantar fasciitis. But I had to return the third pair I bought because the toe box is too narrow for me. I developed calluses between my toes. Never had them before. They have gone away since I began wearing another brand of athletic shoe. (I do not have a wide foot, have always worn average width shoes with no problems.)

Did not like insert inside shoe to keep foot from going from side to side. Kept your foot going heel to toe which is good however this bothered my foot.

This is my second pair for Hokas and the very best fit I've had for any running shoe. I have narrower feet and the way these fit around my ankle is great, snug but not tight. Also there were fantastic on my first run with them. Will by again! I gave four stars for style because I ordered two pair to try. The pair that does not fit as well was significantly cooler! Bright yellow soles would have been the best if they had fit.

True to size. Roomy toebox. Runs larger than the Hoka Arahi. Cushiony sole especially good under ball of foot.

Style of this shoe was nice, but it wasn’t as soft and supportive as the Clifton 8’s.

The fit and arch support is excellent. Comfortable right out of the box. My only beef is that after about 5 months of wearing, the material inside the heel (back end of the shoe) is fraying and coming loose. I feel that these are priced at a range where that shouldn't be happening so soon. I do wear them every other day.

I so wanted this HOKA sneaker to work out for me. They are like walking on clouds and great looking as well. I bought the first pair of Clifton 8's and after 4 weeks of walking in them had developed a serious abrasion of my arch on the right foot. Zappos actually took them back and gave me a credit (to their credit, honestly). When the price reduced, I tried to get them to work again--this time without the HOKA insole and with an orthotic one of mine that is extremely comfortable. Walking around the house for a few days convinced me that the problem was not necessarily my foot, but rather the construction of the shoe. Even with my own insole, the abrasion occurred--it's like the arch in the right sneaker's mold is set too far back (perhaps the reason for the reduction in price). I was relieved to see others had found similar issues with them. Try as I might, the HOKA's just don't fit my feet. Hoping that they realize this issue (as others have also reported) and correct it so I can buy them in the future.
I'd also recommend:

I have several pair of Hoka running shoes. I love the comfort, but these seemed to run large. Unfortunately, I'll need to return.

I wear 11.5 in running shoes so oftentimes I am forced to buy them online because I can't find them in stores. For reference I'm about only about 5'6 and a 147 lbs. I was very excited about these shoes, but the bottom sole construction of the shoe has an arch bump type thing that jams right up in my arch. I've never once bough wide shoes for myself, but I probably should have here. I am a neutral runner, but knew if I kept these that they would have given me blisters just walking. The shoes themselves are kinda ugly, but cool looking. I'm not picky though because I have a hard time finding shoes. They were very bouncy too. I also like the drop in the shoe (4mm), because I like a lower drop. The stack is high, which wasn't a problem. Overall, very good shoe if you have legit skinny feet. I do plan on trying them again at some point, and now I know to get wide. AND they do run big. I got an 11 and they fit like a US 11.5.
