The cords on the front of the backpack have already popped out and my son has only had it for less than two weeks. There is no way to reattach the cords myself unless I cut open the lining on the inside of the bag.
This bag has two pockets, but the front pocket is only half the length of the bag, so it doesn't hold nearly as much as you might expect. The North Face charges a lot for this backpack and so I expected this to be a lot better than it is.

I have had this backpack for over 3 years, has held up exceptionally well, however, the laptop sleeve opening is at best 10" wide, NOT 12". My laptop could not fit. There is NO padding at the bottom, which has caused damage to books and my laptop over time. There is minimal structure to the bag beside the back, meaning it will fall over CONSTANTLY when not being worn. This bag can protect and carry a small- medium laptop or tablet. Great storage and durability, but misleading description and measurements.

This pack is very comfortable. However, the description of a flat bottom allowing the pack to stand on its own is not accurate. The design structure is very poor - the front pocket is not made for anything heavier than a few writing supplies. The front pocket folds over causing any contents to spill out.

Not enough space within bag. Back support is good. Not fullfilling for initial price point

Love the color with the black and neon green, however cheap quality, with no room to put anything and barely any pockets. Very disappointing

Top strings have both come out with less than a year of use. Only use the backpack for school and travel to and from school. Have to wait 6-8 weeks for a replacement. Extremely disappointing.

This was a replacement backpack for one that the strap completely ripped off of in normal daily use for a high school student. Now the zippers completely ripped off this bag and I happened to see it happen. My son was just zipping the bag up & BOTH zippers ripped off. Two backpacks in less than two years rendered useless. We will be switching brands.

Good:
Sturdy design.
Bads:
The shape is weird. Doesn't look good when I carry it. The straps hurt my shoulders after carrying it for 10 minutes with just a laptop. Seems to slip from the shoulders.
Planning to return it. Usually I like TNF products. But not this one.

I was gifted my jester back pack as a replacement, because my old borealis backpack was very worn from everyday use. It was my best backpack to date, as it held up longer than any other backpack I had and had good features. I am very sad to say the new editions are a down grade. I haven't had my backpack for very long so I can't speak to it's longevity but this back pack has no structure. I can't leave the front pocket open without everything falling out due to it's top heaviness. If I have the slightest gap in the zippers it is guaranteed to open fully while walking. Also, this design isn't as comfortable. It seems the ditched practicality for a sleeker and more modern design. I would have been a repeat customer for this backpack but the new editions just can't compete.

It could be bigger. It's smaller than it actually looks

I bought a Jester back in July 2022 to be used as a school backpack. From August to the middle of December 2022 it already had two holes at the bottom. It doesn't help the bottom of the backpack isn't reinforced and only one layer of not so strong fabric.

The backpack itself is very top-heavy due to the front pocket. All I carry in the front pocket are a couple of chargers and a battery pack, causing the entire backpack, which carries my laptop and several binders, to slouch and even fall over at times. Very annoying.

I uses this backpack for 1 year at a school and the clip broke on the front and a strap broke. I imagine if this was used as intended it would wear out much much quicker.

Wouldn't buy again. Could use at least 1 more (small) pocket. Very top heavy/falls over forward if anything is placed in small pocket. Bigger compartment is not big at all. Once I put my laptop in, it feels full already. It does have a nice/design look to it.

This product is great for school and everyday use... if you work half days. This backpack DOES NOT fit lunchboxes or textbooks with other items. I would not recommend to any scholars K-12.

This bag was purchased for my son but the depth of bag is very small, so you can't put much in it! The color is nice.

Verified PurchaseReview for Zappos VIP Points(What's this?)
Zappos is wonderful as always. Sadly, this North Face backpack is no where near the quality of the other 6 Jesters I have purchased over the past decade for our family. What is most notable is the cheap, flimsy zipper. Had I bought this off Amazon, I would think it was a fake. The zipper is something you would find on a seasonal Wal Mart cheapy. Quite disappointed! Come on North Face!

Quality is terrible on this bag, feels cheap and not like the old North Face jester bags. Zippers open easily and the back cover keeping the form easily gets bended. Terrible bag if possible buy the more expensive model if there at least higher quality

I was searching for a back pack for my son entering 9th grade. Last year his bag was so heavy I really wanted one better for his back. We were really excited for as it was very comfortable for him however it doesn't fit half of his stuff. Size wise I'd say it's better suited for my 1st grader. His binders didn't even fit. For the price I expected a bigger bag.

I really liked my old Jester back pack and when it developed a hole I immediately bought a new one because I loved it so much. However, I am not pleased with the new design. Specifically the front pocket, it is very small and does not go down the hole length of the back pack, like the old design. because of this the backpack seems to have less space overall. Also with the front pocket only being on the top half of the backpack putting anything it it causes the backpack to be top heavy and fall over a lot. Also if you zipper the backpack with the zippers on the top and have a a lot of stuff in the front pocket, that weight will cause the zippers to open- this happened to me and my books fell out. Overall, I would not buy this backpack again because of the design changes. Wish I could go back to the old style.

Broke after 10 months of use. The zipper separated from the fabric and I can no longer zip it. Extremely disappointed in this as North Face used to be know for their quality

My wife bought me this as a father's day gift to replace the original northface backpack that was amazing. This is so poorly designed. The front pocket where you keep all your small items is only cut to the center of the bag... causing it to constantly fall over when placed in a car, chair or floor. the bag looks really nice on. I used it as a daily driver for my work laptop and gear. But i dread it. When i travel i use the old Northface bag.
