It is a very small bag. My 11 year old son has had it since 2nd grade. The water bottle cages ripped immediately. I do not recommend this bag.

Used as a school bag by my 5th grader. I am a little disappointed by the size because looking at the photos online and based on how it is marketed, I assumed the bag to be large. But it can barely fit 4 folders in the bag along with a laptop. The 2nd compartment is small and I thought that was the one for the laptop. Finally, with the 4 folders and a laptop, there is no space for the water bottle to fit in the side pocket.

While this is a really nice looking backpack and might be of excellent quality, we were disappointed that it isn't roomier. Really insufficient space for a typical high school student.

Really sleek and beautiful backpack. Great design and overall function but a bit small. I bought the backpack hoping my laptop would fit in the laptop sleeve but it's just a bit to small. So if you want to use it for a school bag I recommend only buying this of a you have a small laptop

We ordered two of these backpacks for our 9th & 12th graders. We couldn't fit their binder & lunchbox inside. Let alone a computer! It's just too small. I am sure it's great for other things or younger children. We liked the design and quality.

Backpack looks great. However, it was way too small for my high school son. Front pocket is very small. Second pocket is decent size. He can't carry it for 10th grade because there isn't enough room for his books and things for school.

I wanted to put my laptop in the sleeve but it was too big. Also, a shoe/ball pocket would be nice. But overall, sleek, big pockets, and comfortable to wear. Maybe another backpack is better

The smaller compartment is located high on the backpack making it top heavy when open. There's no compartment for glasses. Material feels thin and cheap. Not sure if that's because it's made from recycled materials or not. The bag looks cool but it's not practical enough to be a daily driver.

Cool pack comfortable to wear. The front pocket is strange. Anything you put it throws the balance of the bag off.

Great bay but the plastic pieces started to lose their color after a week.

I purchased this for my boyfriend and its alright. Its lightweight and convenient for basic uses such as packing an overnight bag even though it's not very big. The difference in quality between this and the borealis is huge, doesn't seem very durable. Wish I spend a little more for the better quality of some of the other north face bags.

I bought this product because I had the original Jester (black with white stitch logo). I really loved that one and wanted to update the style. Not a great design due to the front load causing the bag to constantly tip. And, the original Jester had way more space and was more functional, while the new one just looks more compact and has a more attractive design.

Used for hiking and for medical school, clinic (med student). The pack looks great but when you load things into the little pockets in the front pocket and you open the largest compartment as well, the whole front flap falls forward and sometimes things I keep in there just fall out onto the floor. The mini pockets /zippered section should really be closer to the bottom of the pack so this doesn't happen. Also I know it's a smaller pack but I wish the side pockets could fit Nalgenes or hydro flasks. Gotta stay hydrated! All in all, nice looking, good material, but usage is not so great.

I received this backpack for Christmas and I immediately loved it. It only had one main pocket and a smaller pocket. The main pocket may seem small, but it holds all my stuff and more. I can fit my 13 inch laptop, 1 inch binder, 3 folders, 2 pencil cases, snacks, calculators, and more!
However, while I was unzipping the bag in a hurry at school the zipper cut my knuckles every time. You have to be very careful when opening the bag. That's the only downside.
Overall, this is a great backpack. Very durable, comfortable, and stylish for the price!!

I am in high school. You can barely fit a trapper keeper / 2 inch binder in this backpack and then it is full. I'm going to keep it because it is very nice looking and I'll use it for something but I'll have to get something else to use for school.

Overall, good backpack for heavy day use. Good pockets, overall good quality. Only complaint was that the chest strap popped off it's track within the first few days of use and no easy way to repair, so quality of this feature could be improved.

Needs a larger broader base of the pack so it stands vs tips.

The backpack is good in terms of support. However, the zipper in the main compartment does not open wide enough making it difficult to put folders or binders in it. It would also have been better if it had pockets in the front strap for metro cards, phones etc. for easier accessibility.

Good back pack but a little small inside to be used for school. Difficult to get books, computer, notebooks inside. Can't hold a lot.

This is a good backpack but be aware that the front zip section does not go all the way to the bottom so not very useful. Second compartment is big though, and there is a good place to keep laptop

I'm saddened that I fell for the internet once again. I switched from my other brand backpack, figuring the Northface has such a good reputation for quality, and the reviews here were solid, and I've regretted it since. This backpack is designed terribly. It is nearly impossible to get anything out of this backpack easily, and it holds nowhere near its stated capacity. But probably most annoying, they cut the front pocket off well before halfway down, which you might think at least gives you more space at the bottom, but no, it does not. I would not recommend this at all, unless you are looking for a pack that doesn't hold much and makes you work to access what little it does hold

The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is because the padding is nice and thick. The pocket in the front (top) is not functional. Anytime it's unzipped, everything I have spills out of it.
