Ive owned Salomon shoes for years. Theyve been amazing and durable and waterproof. These feel wornout much quicker and haven't been waterproof in my experience. Not sure what's going on with the latest batch but i hope they get it together because I really love the speed lace and my previous experiences, until now.

In general, I really love these shoes - waterproof, great tread, very comfortable and nice lacing design. This is why I bought another pair. After a few months, the lacing ripped through the eyelet and because of the design, I am unable fix it. Very unfortunate!

Bought this shoe a year ago for hikes, and runs around the hills in Cali. In one year laces broke, lace loops wore out and tread had completely been worn down. However I loved this shoe and now it's really hard to find a replacement.

I suffer from low-arch foot problems and my previous two pairs of XA Pro 3d were the best shoes I've ever owned. Superbly comfortable and supportive, I could walk all day with no problems. Sadly I had to return the latest model as the narrower toe area made them uncomfortable. Great shoes if they suit your feet, but no longer for me sadly. I think I'll struggle to find a better shoe than the previous version.

I've had some great use out of mine, lots of miles and nearly 3 years old. It's disappointing considering how much care I took of them and used Nikwax cleaner and re-proofer as per guidance but the material just leaks now - 15mins in a damp grass field and they're sodden. They're great for fast walking and the occasional jog, but definitely too hard and clumpy for running. May try a new pair.

I wear a 11.5 and these are no exception. They are true to size. I also knew this as I've worm MANY previous versions of the Salomon XA Pro 3D GTX shoes. The fit has not changed... they are still a bit on a narrow side. The changes are mainly cosmetic, but for one thing. They have changed their tongue. The previous versions had tongues with stitched seams to the main upper of the shoes to keep the dirt and water out. These now have a tongue that is free and now able to slide all the way to the side, if you're not careful. I'm not impressed by this at all. There is nothing keeping the tongue in place. Now the dirt is kept out by a spandex-like cloth above the tongue, below the quick laces. It remains to be seen how these will keep water out... my guess that it won't.

These shoes used to be nice looking until someone wrecked the tounge. Now they look like retirement shoes. BRING BACK THE OLD!

I have a pair of 8 year old Salomons and are the toughest, most comfortable shoes I own. Trying to buy a new pair but I can not find a size 12 in gore tex, other than black, in almost any style of trail runners. Inventory upkeep needs work. I don't want to buy a different brand....but new balance has my size in every style... and is built 10 miles from me. I'm going to hold off another week. But if I can't find my size I'm forced to go elsewhere.

This is my 4th pair of the shoes. The first two were the older version and lasted well over 2 years. I then bought the new version and have claimed the warranty 3 times now. The most recent on two pair that the Gore-tex failed within 4 months. I wanted the shoe to work because it was comfortable. I will be looking at a different type. I'm tired of wet socks.

Just tried on this exact model and just agreed with the reviewer who said they seem narrow. Salomon are you listening? I have loved my last two pair of your hiking shoes but this xa pro 3d v8 gore-tex has a number of nice features: Very light, nice underside but it feels a bit narrow. Although my primary gripes include not being able to see the shoes - looking down. Why is that so hard? Even the video does not show the last (lowest) lacing stay which runs off by itself creating an unusual pattern. I've had that nylon pull-type of closure on other Salomon hiking shoes and would use it again, but disappointed in this episode.

I ordered the same size as my last 4 or 5 pairs but as soon as I tried them on I knew they were different. They're much narrower than previous pairs (and I don't have a wide foot). I don't know whether I should send them back or try to wear them in. Pretty disappointing....

Opening box colorway was exact, on foot Salomon has changed over the last few years. The cushion is now more shock absorbing not sponge like at all! There also much wider now. And for those of you that remember the indoor feel from 2012 of further back, your going to be disappointed! Though the goretex feels like it changed to paclite. That is a blessing from years past!
I'd also recommend:
Nike trail Pegasus gtx! There far superior

confortable shoe but inexcusablely poor engineering choice for the eyelets holding the laces, they break easily and cannot be repaired.

Shoes felt fine around the house for initial testing. Took them out onto the trails and the left shoe absolutely shredded my toe about 4km in. Weeks later, my toe is still pretty mangled. Goretex was perfect. These shoes are just far too narrow and firm.

Toe box was still kinda cramped, and the arch portion of the shoe was unbearably narrow. Also, one of the shoes immediately started squeaking with every step. Return was easy though

I have to agree with Kjellos' post. The XA Pro has been my go to shoe for at least 10 years. They are excellent shoes, but are not long lasting. The older version would last 1 - 2 years before failing - always the same failure points - where the lace crosses the toe box and sole separation. I could tell the newer version was not even the same build quality as the old version, and sure enough began to fail after one year. Foolish me just bought another pair because I like the shoes and the quick lace system. I am a solid Solomon fan/customer, but am really beginning to question my loyalty to the brand.

Purchased a couple pair of these shoes now. Overall, I really like them for fit, comfort, support, waterproof-ness, etc. I also really like the speed lace feature and is one of the reasons I bought them. The issue is the lace will fray over time until it breaks. The first time this happened, I was able to submit a claim (customer service was great) and was able to get a direct replacement (exact same shoe). 15 months later and the same thing is happening again and expect the lace to break very soon. Because you can't really put new laces on the shoes, they are essentially no good. It is within the 2 years but since these are replacements it is not clear I will be able to get another replacement. So unfortunate as there are so many things I like about these shoes.

I have had 4 pairs of this exact model over the past few years and even though they are nowhere near as good as the Salomon XA Pro 3D CS WP I've still been really happy with this model. But the last 2 pairs have worn out extremely quick. My first pair lasted almost 2 years of serious abuse before the sole lost grip. But my last 2 pairs have been total garbage within 6 months and i haven't even been as rough as i was with the first pairs.. holes, delamination of the sole and toecap, sole wore flat in about 2 months and never had the grip that made me feel confident, lost waterproofing after only a few outings. This has been my go-to trail shoe for years and years but unfortunately that is about to change

Owned a few similar from Salomon. Now this pair, again with quicklace. The shoe is comfortable, sole is solid with good grip. However, the shoe has a bad choice of lacing system. The thin string which consists the lacing simply cuts through the fabric on top of the foot during normal waking. Both the lacing and the shoe fabrics are in constant friction and of course the thin lace simply slices a trench hole across the shoe like a saw. This is my maybe 4th Samolon with the same lacing system and same defect occurs each time. I deliberately don't tie them tight and same thing happens. The thin lacing across the front also collects all the dust and like a barrier lines it across the shoe, while also digging the hole. The shoe is simply being destroyed by its own lacing. The loop created by the lacing, where the lacing ends on the inside, also digs into the fabric opening additional hole there, each on both shoes. The only solution to make them last when you buy these shoes is to cut and replace the lacing with normal shoe lace immediately. Salomon, please redo the lacing on this otherwise good show or this will be my last one now :(
