I am familiar with TIMP Altra shoes and have enjoyed two previous pairs. i had to buy 1/2 size big and though i loved the comfort of the shoe my one toe hit the front a little. at times. This first pair of TIMP2 is a fantastic fit and believe it or not even more comfortable when I hike. I suspect it runs as a C - not too narrow or too wide.
i bought this for my partner as well and she loves them even more than our previous TIMP style @- which we were already sold on.

These TIMP2 shoes are amazing. I read a review that the fit was even smaller compared to someone's previous pairs of TIMP Altras. This is the third TIMP pair for me, but my first TIMP2 pair. My feet are size 8.5 to 9. First pairs ran small so i get 9s. I decided to order the same size as i have in the past and these fit fantastically. i mean stellar. i am thrilled!

I am an avid runner and I have been dedicated to Asics. However, that's all changed after I wore this shoe on a training trail run. It is light weight which blew my mind. I'd that it would be a clunky shoe given the size of the sole, but not at all. The shoe encourages your foot strike to be midsole to toe. I just relaxed my stride and could feel the natural push of the shoe into the midsole to toe strike. It ripped and gripped the trail. The trail I was on had ferrel hog damage (rooted up earth) and several downed trees from a recent tornado. I did not turn my ankle once or slide while trying to navigate over tree trunks. When the trail rut was deep, I easily went side to side with out worry of my feet slipping. Light weight, flexible, great tread. I have a new shoe!

I'm a trail runner and I'm giving this product a 4 star. When I got my first pair they felt a 1/2 size to small. The width felt a little to narrow, which is very strange for Altra "embrace the space". I typically wear Lone peaks, but wanted some extra cushion for higher mile runs. I sent them back and ordered a full size up, giving a 1/2 size for foot expansion when running long distances. That being said I will say the bigger size is perfect. Out of the box on the trail for 10 miles no problems. I'm hoping with the Timp 3 they have gone back to the original formula.

I had to return the size 7 (which is what I wear in my other Altra sneakers). These ran small and narrower. When I went up a half size the fit was right and there was more room in the toe box. Be sure to try these on with the socks that you will be wearing for trail runs.

The toe box is still pretty good but not as roomy as the previous version, which is the big sell-point of this shoe--that your toes will be able to spread out. The rest of the shoe still fits great like its predecessor: snug through the heel and arch, so no sliding around. For me they still work, but it's close. If you are expecting the same amount of room in the toe box as the 1.5, I'd go up a half-size from the previous version and that may fit a bit better.

Though I chose true to size this is because I first bought my shoes in person, guaranteeing a good fit. I do need a size larger than my street shoe (which is common) and this shoe feels wider than other running shoes which took some getting used to.

Timp 2 feel pretty good for running on uneven ground. Toe box is reasonably wide but Timp 1.5 fit better with bigger toe box. Bring back 1.5.

The shoe would of been perfect had the material not been cheap...I've had 2 or so far and everytime they tear from the sides of the shoe....why ??? This should not be happening. Great shoe with cheap material that doesn't last long at all and as much as I love the shoe I'm not sure I want to continue to buy these bc a month later they look old bc they tear. Material needs to change period !!

I have two pairs of these and they fit really differently, so it's hard to know how to review. My first pair fit perfectly. I sized up one full size from my street shoes so I could fit my orthotic in under the insole and they were great out of the gate. But they wore a hole inside the back of the heel cup within a few months (just walking use as I was recovering from foot surgery.) I contacted Altra and their customer service was seamless. They honored their warranty and I had a pair of replacement shoes in a week. They're the same shoe, same size, in a different color, but they don't fit. They are uncomfortably narrow such that I have to loosen the laces as much as possible and they still don't feel good. Other reviews complaining about size inconsistency now make sense. So, yes, I'd recommend them because Altra's return policy is great. It's worth the chance that they might fit will and send them back if they don't.

So, I read all the reviews and I was really hesitant to try these. I LOVED the 1.5s right out of the box, which NEVER happens to my awful feet. My feet are the joke of my hiking group they get completely torn up with extended mileageblisters, the whole thing, regardless of socks, shoes... when I got the TIMP 1.5 they were pretty awesome and I had fewer problems. The cushion wore quickly on the 1.5, but fewer blisters, longer mile hikes.
I was afraid that Altra had ruined the width of this new model, which has not been my experience at all. The 2.0 might be a bit narrower, but they still work for my wide feet. The biggest differences between the 1.5 and the 2 that I notice: no tab loop on the 2 in the back, and the 2.0 sole doesn't have the rear overhang beyond the shoe that the 1.5 had. I would like those features to come back in a subsequent TIMP. The 2.0 seems to have more cushion in the sole too, which is great for me. It's not a maximal by any means, but compared to my beat up 1.5s, the 2.0 was a lot cushier.
Glad for more color choice in the 2. I've worn them out in the Seattle rain for an 8+ hour day and still have dry feet. Totally recommend. Hope they work for you as well as they do for me. It always sucks to read that other people have hated the updated version of a favorite, and I'm glad I took the chance.

Love altra sneakers. Very comfortable, however, the timp2 is not as cushioning as timp 1.5. That was a disappointment

Fits much tighter than the TIMP 1.5, both in length and width. I'm returning them.

These are a great show if you're on your feet walking, they're not a good shoe for running which is what I bought them for. I am healing form Plantar Fasciitis (both feet) and grew heel spurs in the process (both feet again). Walked around in my office felt wonderful, very jelly and comfortable. I took them jogging after work and they felt like clunkers and very hard to jog. My feet didn't roll form heel to toe with every step, there is no other way but explain but the work clunkers. Good shoes in general, just not for running.

With the original Timps, my normal 8 was bit too short, so I went up a 1/2 size and they were perfect. I put a lot of miles on them. When the Timp 1.5 came out, I got an 8.5 and my feet swam. There was so much extra space in the toe box (width and volume), that I couldn't do anything to keep my foot from sliding around. I ended up selling them. I never did find an 8 in the 1.5 to try, but I assume it would have been a decent fit. Onto the Timp 2. I went back to my normal size 8 given the issues I had with the 1.5s, and they are snug in the toe box. Really, really snug. Length seems to be ok, but I don't know if I can deal with how tight they are in the width. I've never had a pair of Altra (Lone Peak or Timp) fit so tight. I'm not sure if I should go up a half size, or if I should skip this version and move on to the 3s. It shouldn't be this hard to by running shoes, especially when you've been wearing the same brand/styles for several years. So frustrated....

I loved my Timp 1.5, but it is difficult to compare them to these as I have over 350 miles on them and they are nicely broken in. I remember the 1.5s being a bit stiff when they were new, but not as stiff as the 2.0 feels. Also the 2.0 seems to come in more at the ankles, and ate my ankle socks immediately as I tried to run. I solved this issue by using a heel lock technique with my laces. Otherwise, not too many differences but I have only put about 10 miles on them. Overall, I'll use them for trail mostly and had to go with another shoe for the road due to the stiffness. Maybe they will break in over time.

I really love my these shoes. I'm on my second pair b/c they are very comfortable. But they are not durable. 300ish miles and they had holes in the heal that cause blisters.

I cannot stress how much I LOVE Altra. It is the shoe that sold me on zero drop. I loved how my feet felt natural and not squished. The Timp 2 squishes my toes and the toebox feels too narrow compared to the previous model. I still enjoy these shoes but please go back to the wider toebox..they just feel like they smash your feet.

These are comfortable road-to-trail transition shoes with lugs that are forgiving enough for road, yet feel grippy on dry trail. Unfortunately, they desperately lack traction on wet rocks, and are extremely slippery and squeaky in wet conditions!
The upper felt quite tight over the top of the foot for my first few runs, but seemed to loosen up over time and with some lacing adjustments. However, they can also get sweaty in hot or humid weather, which contributes to the squeaking. Hopefully the next iteration comes with a grippier sole for all conditions as well as improvements to the upper!

These shoes fit well, but similar to another reviewer, they hurt my feet. I felt like I was walking barefoot on the pavement, essentially no cushioning. I have to send them back.

I had to go 0.5 size higher to make this work. Good cushion. Felt little difficulty in wearing it. Less breathable.

The toe box is not as roomy as the 1.5 and the uppers are much less forgiving, as well. Uppers are stiff and feel uncomfortable. I'm so sad I didn't grab an extra pair of the previous iteration.

The shoe has changed I loved the last 2 pairs but now they have way less cushioning. It also seemed like they changed the foot bed some how too. I have a bad leg with lots of pain in it so I buy shoes for comfort not running. Ordered Hoka’s to see how they fit.
