1- offer in a EEEE 2- needs a bigger toe cap. Scratched my new boots first time out. 3- tongue needs to be longer so it doesn't interfere with laces and loop, more comfortable too. 4- offer in a nice brown, more typical.

Use as a work boot/ shoe. The speed lasing is ok ! till I get to the top then the tounge is not long enough and knocks me out of that top set. Also leads to becoming unhooked . a break in action not wanted. Maybe better if the soul were a little thicker .

I had the shoe for almost 5 days and so far it feels great. The size and width is just right and it is not heavy for a mid size shoe.

I like these shoes, wish the shoes were more black, they have a grayish tent to them. Not real happy about that.

Excellent for non technical hiking and walking. Would not recommend for technical trail hiking (steeper grades/uneven surface) as boot support is inadequate (IMOP)

These are very comfortable so far, havnt used them long enough to assess durability. I would give these shoes a 5 star at this point except I hate the two top what I call " speed laces" either I am using them wrong or they are a poor design, it takes forever to get the laces into them, and with just a minimal amount of slack they fall back out. Have had boots with speed laces for most of my life, these are very frustrating!

I like the boot. I purchased a wide and it is a good fit. I wanted a boot that had a lot of cushion and wasn't hard. This is like a sneaker but in a boot. The only problem with this boot is horrible speed lace system. Hoka what were you thinking with this? It's garbage. The top two eyelets are horrible and it's very hard to get the laces into the eyelets. I took my boots to the cobbler to get the eyelets replaced with normal speed lace eyelets. They have good traction and are lite. I give these boots a 4 because of the horrible laces. Hoka fix this problem and make more of your boots in wide sizes please.

I previously purchased the Speedgoat 4 Gore-Tex size 9 because they pinched my toes. The Speedgoats were not only helpful in the environments I worked in, but they were immediately of comfort for my long days at work. I decided to follow up with the Challenger in an 8.5 wide. I purchased these online, not in store like I had previously, where I could try them on. The wide helped volumes, but the sole was much more stiff than I expected. It didn't really feel cushioned and did not provide full relief over time. Despite that, they are still over way more comfortable than most of my other shoes with regards to work. Time will see what future purchases I make. I may have to try them in store before ordering on line.

This boot is the most comfortable shoe I have ever worn great to work and hike in just a couple of things trying to get laces into hooks is difficult at times and the color fades very fast making the shoe look older after just two weeks of wearing but would buy this shoe all the time just giving input

They are great on concrete real cushioning. They could be a little wider and composite toes would be greater

I work long hours on TV/Film sets and someone recommended that I use Hoka shoes to help me with my bad knee. After the first day of use I knew they were the right shoes for my bad knee. The only thing I have a problem with is the lacing up of the last two straps. The laces are hard to catch on the metal "holders" when I put them on. Taking them off also takes more time than I'm use too. Wish you made something that can zip up or velcro so I can slip them off easily.

Don't know if I would buy again. Do not like the four hook eyelets at the top. Very hard to use.

Pros: super lightweight. Good ankle support. Felt good right away, no long break in period. Cons: lacing system where you hook at top could use redesign, not the most user friendly. Needs xtra wide sizing. Cushioning feels too rigid, would like more bounce myself.

I've been wearing Hoka shoes for many years now and enjoy the comfort and cushion that they provide my feet. So when my old waterproof shoes went bad, I looked towards Hoka and their new Gore-Tex shoe. Again I love the comfort of these shoes, but I'm not crazy about the way the eyelets work. They're made of hard plastic which makes the laces impossible to slide open when you stretch the tongue. Also, the top U-loop is not an easy clasp to hook your lace on as it is open in the middle and not from the side as most hiking shoes have. If they were to re-designed the shoes, I would give them a 6 out of 5.

Light weight and comfortable. Takes a little to get used to. They run big and the upper open eyelets are a big pain when you're trying to hurry. Overall good arch support and easy on the legs.

The shoes are a bit hot when wearing them in any condition including sitting in the office. The speed loop/laces are poorly designed and hard to get the laces in without focused effort, remove the bottom portion creating a small opening and they would be perfect. Someone clearly tried to be too fancy with that. However, they are waterproof as they proclaim to be which is awesome living in the Pacific Northwest! They are also some of the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned as well!

This is my second pair of hokas. They are definitely comfortable ,and help with fatigue as I am on my feet for10 hour shifts. My only complaint is that on day two one of the heel pieces this current pair came off. Does not really effect function but doesn't give confidence in product lasting either.

Good boots with good support and soles. Stiff but in a good way. Biggest issue is the annoying lace hooks at the top. They're difficult to lace up. Also the tongue should be longer.

I use these boots for everyday life. I have to even sometimes take off running in them at a moments notice. They are very comfortable. The only issue I have with them is I wish the top looped eyes were solid. In other words, you can't slide the laces through those eyes for a more firm and solid fit. I have to wrap the laces a second time around the body of the shoe for a better fit.

I don't use this as hiking boots, I use these as station boots for my job as a firefighter/EMT. They're extremely comfortable and durable and have kept my feet warm and dry in the northeast winters! My only suggestion to Hoka would be to change the design of the speed lace system at the top of the boot. Because of the small opening the Challnger has, in comparison to some of the other boots they offer as well as most station boots on the market, you can't lace them up as fast as I'd like too. Other than that this boot is close to perfect for me!

Typically I wear a size 11. These were only available in a size 11.5. Since I have a plantar fasciitis injury in one foot, I really needed the heel support this brand offers. So I went with the .5 size higher. I felt that I could replace the insole with something thicker, gaining added heel support, and helping to reduce the overall .5 size feel. Bottom line is that these allow me to walk without pain. My complaints about the basic functionality is with the speed lacing on top: it does not permit as rapid a lace up as intended. Taking the pair off does take more time as the flat laces do keep the lacing snug. It's a double edged sword. You want them to stay firmly laced, yet when you need to shed them, like I said, it takes a bit longer. Hoping they have a good longevity. Right now it's too early to make that determination.

I have found it difficult getting the laces to stay in place around the four "hooks" at the top of the shoe. The problem is that I have thick ankles and cannot tighten the laces too snugly at the top. As such, it's hard to keep the laces from slipping the hooks because they appear to have been designed to "hold" only when pulled tight. This means that for me, lacing the shoes is a deliberate process that cannot be rushed.
