I was initially a big fan of this shoe, but after taking it on 3 months of daily 1 hour walks with some longer off road hikes in between, the sole started to see serious wear and tear, and finally one day just ripped open at the toe pad. I have gone through about three pairs of Hokas in less than eight months. No running, just daily 1 hour walks on gravel with some off road terrain. I don't think I will buy another pair, which is a bummer, because they are a good company making innovative and flexible shoes. The quality of the materials is not as good as it should be for the money.

My husband wore these Challenger Mid Gore-Tex shoes for the first time on a relatively gentle 10-mile hike - some road, mostly dirt, a few small rocks. He said that they were very comfortable, but when we got home and looked at the shoes, there was a small stick that had punctured the sole. We pulled it out - it was about an inch long - and it left a big hole in the sole. We now wonder if these shoes will be waterproof.
My husband would give these Challengers 5 stars for comfort, and 1 star for durability. If you are planning on wearing these on anything but the road, I would strongly consider another shoe, as these soles have serious durability problems.

I use this new set of hiking boots and they're soft and light and cushion is ok ...not as much cushioning as the Bondi 7 but they're pretty light. I used them on wet and rainy days here in Seattle and so far they kept my feet dry on my 2 plus hour hiking trips trough mud and wet surfaces. Grip feels fine on mostly everything from mud to most kinds of terrains except few ...if you're walking on sidewalks the grip is not as good and they feel slippery so anything that's exposed aggregate concrete not much grip or asphalt aggregate they will slip when is wet ...so there is my review.

Overall this shoe is very comfortable however I am disappointed at the color. I expected the shoe to be all black but I see that the shoe has a greenish color which is inappropriate for my job.

I have plantar fasciitis and bone spurs. Working in law enforcement I am standing on concrete for up to 16 hours a day. I love these boots. Having to run across the concrete, uneven grass and hard packed dirt, my feet don't hurt like they used to at the end of the day wearing military style boots. I bought the same size as my other Hoka running shoes and the seem a little big for me. I may try a 1/2 size smaller next time. But all in all my feet don't hurt.

I needed these for a hospital security job where I walk about 6 miles a shift. I've been through tons of boots looking for a pair that won't make my back and legs throb. These are amazing. The cushion is fantastic (I'd actually say I prefer it over Nike React. I didn't even need to add an aftermarket insole. They are water resistant and extremely light weight like a pair of sneakers. I'm a big guy (6'2 280) and these are the first pair of boots that I've loved for the comfort. They seem grippy and well made. I agree that the last two eyelets are a little tricky for lacing but definitely not a deal breaker for me at all. These made me a Hoka convert.

I like the challenger Mid Gore-Tex for me they fit well I wish they lasted longer but you get a good six months out of them before they start coming apart this is my second pair I use them for work. I do weigh 270 pounds I'm about 5' 10" I do a lot of walking and a lot of moving in the shoes. The souls feel good they keep my feet from hurting they're not too soft but not too firm either for me just right for me plush is too soft to squishy but these are perfect. I am not sure how long it takes before supinating has your foot leaning to the outside because of excessive weight but it definitely doesn't take six months the shoe does hold up for a while though before that begins to happen for me anyway.

I'm a very active officer and the extra equipment I wear on my vest and waist has taken its toll on my knees and ankles. I'm 5'11 169lbs and in fantastic shape. These boots have made a massive difference in comfort and daily life while on patrol. Comfort they get 5 stars, over all they get 4 only because the shoe strings are insanely long.

Pain-free hiking with Planters Fascitis for me with these boots. Thank you for making them in a wide size. Please offer more of your shoes in wide sizes.

Been in construction for 35 years. Seen many claims to comfort but never had such a good feel and comfort out of the box. A little cumbersome at first but you get used to the sole. If you work and also work in different spots for long hours then these boots work well. I don't know if they will hold up but we shall see.

These shoes were recommended to me by my physical therapist. They were a bit pricey, so I was apprehensive, but I'm really glad I went for it and bought a pair. They are super comfortable to walk in, and they change the way I walk which is helping me with my lower back pain. I'm a music teacher, so I spend a lot of time on my feet. Don't think I'll ever wear anything else to work from now on.

I'm in law enforcement and these shoes are great. I wish Hoka would make an all black shoe for first responders in mind. This is as good as it gets. Very comfortable and durable. Able to wear them in uniform and in civilian dress for 12 hour days and not get tired. I wear nothing but Hoka running shoes because of an ankle injury. I've ran in other shoes before and nothing beats Hoka from 5K to marathon runs. How about an all black high or mid top durable leather shoe with vibrant bottoms for first responders?

I have become a fan of HOKA recently and very quickly I have become a permanent customer! The shoes make every workday much better!
I highly recommend taking a test walk - the shoe will convince you to keep it and get more!!

I'd been suffering from heel pain in my left foot since last year (2020). Pain would come & go, sometimes felt normal, other times it was so bad I could barely walk. After being diagnosed with plantar fasciitis and trying different remedies, my podiatrist eventually told me to stop wearing the boot/shoes I had, and to get HOKA shoes, he also administered a steroid shot. The combination of shot & shoes worked well for me, and now 6 weeks after the shot (which I'm sure has worn off by now), my foot/heel is doing great, which probably has a lot to do with wearing HOKA shoes.
I was a little skeptical with doing the online sizing for shoe size, but the shoes fit very well!

Poor SupportGreat Support
Best hiking shoes I've ever owned! My picky feet like great support and ball of foot cushioning, and these are just right. I recently bought another pair and hiked over 50 miles in them on vacation and my feet have never felt better, so I am buying another pair, just as a backup. You know, in case there's a zombie apocalypse and I can't buy any more hiking shoes.
