The shoe itself is fine, not so crazy about the choice of color (black) and the white soles.

Love this shoe but with my arthritic hands it was hard for me to do up the laces.

The only reason I didn't put 5 stars is because I haven't had these very long. I'm waiting to see how they hold up, but so far they're terrific! I have lots of problems with my feet, lots of surgeries, and I have such a hard time finding shoes that don't hurt. These have been good so far. I'm not a runner because of all the surgeries, so I can't rate these as a runner would, but I can say they're so comfortable. In a few months I'll know more, but if they continue to feel like they do now, I'll definitely be ordering another pair.

Like the black color. I like them overall - I just don't think they feel as supportive as previous year models. Maybe the arch support seems a little lower. But I appreciate the wide widths you offer. Each year seems a little different, but I will continue to buy them when I need a new pair. Thank you .

compared to past versions of Ariel, this seems much wider. The toe box seems huge; it's wide and tall. My toes are swimming. Not sure I like having that much space. Also bought Adrenaline GTS 20 at the same time and the adrenaline feels more like Ariel's of the past. Will see how they work after a few months of wearing them.

Toe box smaller, had to size up. Stability not as strong and sole under front part of shoe is thinner (meaning I feel pebbles and small sticks). Doable, but not as good as previous versions.

I like that they feel lighter.....but for my aching feet I would like more cushion in the inside foot bed.

I have worn Brooks Ariel's for years, starting with Ariel 16's. I feel the Ariel 20's do not have quite the support as the others. I wear this shoe to work. I have a job where I am on my feet a lot and love this shoe for its support. The 20's just feel like they don't have the support I am use to. But, love the shoe.

I wear 8.5 in athletic shoes. These seemed to fit, and felt fine walking around the living room. So, taking advantage of the 30-day runlimited guarantee, I wore them to walk up the road. The last part of this walk (actually my driveway) is a short steep hill. By the time I got to the top, these shoes had eaten my socks! Tall crew socks, yet they ended up entirely inside the shoes, just walking up the driveway. I noticed that my right toe (right foot is larger) was almost at the end of the shoe, so I thought perhaps the shoe was flexing at the wrong point, and I needed a larger size. So I ordered a size 9. Unfortunately, this pair also rubbed up and down on the heel, and just in the living room started to eat one sock. Back they go. Disappointed; years ago Brooks shoes were my favorite.

Great shoe for over-pronation and Plantar- fasciitis. Nice color. Width of toe and ball of foot area is roomy, perhaps to wide for some people.

I really like these shoes. I've worn Brooks Ariels for 8 years and have always worn a 9. I ordered some of the 2020 Ariels and wore them as usual assuming they would stretch out but they didn't. So now I have a pair of really expensive running shoes that I can't wear. I ordered the 9.5 and they fit much better. Wish I'd known this before I wasted my money.

The fit and size was great. I have pretty severe overpronation and very flat feet. These shows feel good on my daily 4 mile walks.

I have worn Brooks Ariel almost exclusively for about 20 years after a physical therapist recommended them to me as the best stability shoe. Every season they are a little but different but they are still the best shoe out there.
The Ariel '20 is quite different than the "18. It is much squishier underfoot and feels almost like a NB Vongo or Fresh Foam. Certainly less a rigid sole than my Ariel '18s. So, that will take some getting used to. I might add a super feet sole to stiffen up the arch support and support.
I purchased a wide width for the first time ever because as I get older my feet seem to be spreading but also needing more vertical space. I think with this style which is stetchy fabric I could have stayed with the regular width. But that's fine. I just lace them tight. Speaking of laces, I saw review complaints that the laces are "cheap". I don't agree, but it's true the laces on the '20 are not the fancy round cushiony ones that my Ariel '18s had.
The look of this shoe is obviously more modern and sleek, which I like very much. I have a professional job which is some desk but also on my feet about 4 miles per workday so I'd rather be a bit more fashionable while being comfortable. I wish these shoes came in ALL black as I don't like to advertise that I wear sneakers to work but oh well. The Adrenaline GTS does come in all black but it's not as roomy in the forefoot and makes my feet hurt after awhile, so I will stick with Ariel whatever design they have I take.
Overall the Ariel '20 is another win from Brooks and I am very grateful that they still make the Ariel after all these years. If you have any doubts, go get a foot assessment from a Physical Therapist and have them advise you on what type of sneakers to get for your specific feet! Everyone is different.

Have worn mine daily for 6 months - working retail 40+ hrs a week. Love the support and comfort! Soles are holding up better than any others I have had. Would like to see sturdier fabric used on the top of the toe area. Got a small tear in one of the "vents" and it spread to the size of a nickel. Trying to figure out how to patch it. Getting wear spots on the fabric on the side of the shoe as well.

I am a lifelong Brooks running shoe devotee. With the pandemic, and getting older, I am mostly run/walking with emphasis on walking. Have not had a chance to use this new model at the gym. These shoes are great and improved in some ways but other ways I need to go back to the ariel 18. the design is better for capsulitis as it has the bars on the side that rock, keeping pressure off the ball of the foot and they are more lightweight which is nice--feels energizing; they also look nice; however, after they break in, it changes, so the way I rock over the toe is hurting one of my knees so this shoe is not working for me--i've never had that issue before. Although my capsulitis is improved! so its one or the other, but its worse having my knee sore all the time--so I hope they can adjust it so there is the best of both worlds...still sticking with Brooks, they are still amazing. I wont buy another pair of this model for walk/running, but if it works for the gym, then I will. It's good I have extra pairs of the '18. The '18 is heavier and cushier and more snug and stable so that is either a plus or drawback depending on your needs. I got my sister this shoe ('20) as a gift, and it really helped her painful feet as well so she doesn't have to wear her inserts! she loves them--she wears them for work standing and walking.

Great shoe generally comfortable but please make the cushioning in the Ariel 20 more softer and supportive.
I always have to remove it and put my own inserts. I will always buy Brooks they are my favorite shoe. PLEASE HAVE MORE COLORS. This is why 4 stars not 5.

I love the shoe, I just wish I had ordered either a 10 1/2 or a wide. I actually think I need a 10 1/2. I have worn the addiction for over 10 years and have loved it and gave this one a try. I love love love the lightness of the shoe but I really do think I like the support of the addiction. Wonderful company. Thank you, Candy

I much prefer the improvements to the Ariel 2020 to previous ones. They are much more comfortable. I have worn Ariel for over 15 years.
They fit well with my custom orthotics and provide great comfort for my arthritic feet both during walking and day activities.
Once or twice I had to wear them to formal affairs and I have even slept in them when my feet were very painful because of plantar fasciitis.
For me, Ariel is the style that I need and the 2020 improvements are welcome!

As other reviewers have said, these are very different from the Ariel 18. The arch seems to be in a different place vs. the same size in the Ariel 18, and it does not seem to provide the same level of stability. Additionally, I tend to scuff the toes of my sneakers and would be concerned that I would wear holes through the front of the fabric toes vs. the stitched on rubbery material on the Arial 18s. I was lucky to find a pair of Ariel 18s in my size on another site, but next time I need new sneakers I have a feeling I'm going to have to try on a whole bunch to find the right fit and stability. Hopefully Brooks recognizes the popularity of the Ariel 18 and brings it back!

The shoe provides a good balanced support. I have had issues with plantar fasciitis and Morton's neuroma in the past.Im not a runner but I enjoy 2 mile morning and evening power walks and am not having any issues with these shoes. I only gave it 4 stars because I did have to go up a full size for the length and now the toe box feels a bit too roomy even though I have some slight bunions.
