Within the last year I had purchased the Altra Escalante shoe and have been so pleased with the Altra brand. I am so sold on this brand as I always have a hard time finding shoes for my wide feet and arthritic big toes. I wore the Escalante's and was happy but wanted to find a model with a little more cushioning and support for my feet. I am not a runner but do quite a bit of walking and go to the gym regularly. I put the Torin 4 Plush on and they are just what I need. The extra support and cushioning is fantastic. Very very pleased!

Been looking a long time for a running shoe with support, cushion, and room in toe box. I've had Altra trail shoes and the old Paradigm. This is, by far, my favorite Altra shoe. I'm returning to running after two years of letting feet heal. PF, some arthritis, and other issues. These have been a great shoe for gently getting back to running. It does feel more plush than others. The new Paradigm felt a little stiff and not cushioned; also tried a Saucony shoe (former fave running shoe) and Brooks Cascadia, Hoka Akasa...nothing felt like these Altras. I struggle with bony feet and ankles, and these come right up to my ankles. But there is room for a thicker sock which I will eventually switch to. Does not aggravate my PF; my ankles and feet aren't sore the next day.

I love Ultras idea in The Wider toe box. It definitely helps with that feeling of not having your toes cramp and getting a natural splay. These shoes did feel like there was hardly any arch support. There may be some Modern arch support but for my feet it felt like there was very little and I noticed my feet starting to roll inward. It also felt like the shoes were a half size too large. I also appreciate the revamped overlays and how the laces tied together. It's still does singe the foot a little too tightly and trying to get that perfect fit with the way the laces are designed is challenging. Overall the shoe is better than its predecessor but it's still needs a little bit of work to feel comfortable. I would love to see the lace is redesigned so that it's easier to get a better fit, decrease the length by half a size and provide more arch support.

Once I wore them around the house and decided I was satisfied and keeping my new Altra Torin 4 Plush running shoes, I went on a short jog with my dogs and am pleased with how they felt on my feet. I'm a neutral runner with a narrow heel and a fairly bothersome bunion on my left foot. Wide widths are too big on me, besides the fact that my right foot is pretty much "normal". Despite my not-so-ideal-feet, I'm typically an 8.5 M in nearly every shoe, athletic or otherwise. And to accommodate my bunion, I have a good eye for stretchy materials with no restrictive stitching or "trim" in the bunion/big toe area that will potentially cause me pain. Up until writing this review, I totally forgot I took the advice of other reviewers that said to size down. I agree and have a nearly perfect fit with these in size 8, a half size down from my normal size. The first and only other time I've tried the Altra brand was a couple of years ago with the Altra Escalante, and 8.5 fit me well in that style. The Torin 4 Plush are more cushiony out of the box, and compared to the Escalante's and other running shoes, these do have a roomier toe box. If it weren't for the narrow heel, I wouldn't keep them because I prefer a flexibly snug fit while running. I've done a lot of online shoe buying in the past few years, and I always take a lot of time researching and reading reviews to make my final decisions. Rarely do I end up getting a bad fit and return what I ultimately purchase, yet it's challenging given how unique preferences, shapes, sizes, etc., are considerations when reading through reviews. Most of us with feet issues have stumbled on the Altra brand with purpose, and I'm doing my best to provide useful information. So if you're seriously interested in trying the Altra Torin 4 Plush's, I recommend not sizing up if you typically size up on other running shoes. If you typically size down, you may need to size down a full size. If you're like me and almost never size up or down, 1/2 size down on these. These are great running shoes out of the box if you can get the right fit for you.

These shoes are a game changer for me. I have hyper mobile joints and a bunion on one foot which makes most sneakers feel uncomfortable. This shoe is a DREAM! I have never had a zero drop shoe before and I won't be going back. I don't even know I have a bunion with these on! My Physical Therapist recommended Altras specifically for the zero drop and how that would help my bunion and maybe my lower back . This shoe is super cushy which is what I need since I am on my feet all day at work. Side note... because the shoe is so squishy, I need something else for gym workouts. Balance while on one foot is an issue for my hyper mobile joints and especially in a cushioned shoe. I will be wearing these all the time except for my hiit style workouts. I am currently considering another Altra shoe for my workouts. I do not run so I can't review this shoe from a runner's standpoint. If your feet ache or you have any toe issues please give Altra shoes a try.

I’ve worn Altra Torin since 2015. This Torin 4.0 is just a replacement of my Torin 3.5 after normal wear and tear. I wore a women’s 11 in the 3.5, but the 10.5 fits me in 4.0, so I marked them as running a half size large. The new plush uppers are a bit more formed than the 3.5; not exactly ‘stiff’, but not the light and airy mesh of the 3.5. I can’t run anymore (wonky knee replacement), but need the pronation control and cushion of the Torin, as well as the foot shape and zero drop. So far, so good. My feet and knee feel just as happy as they have with almost every Altra Torin I’ve worn (3.0 was not a good shoe). I’ll give this model five stars.

These shoes offer a tempurpedic cushion under the feet. For me I found the cushion to allow my feet to sink in too much to where it felt like there wasn't any return energy from the shoes. I do like the toe box Altra designs! These shoes feel a 1/2 size larger and wider than marked. The laces are also VERY long! Others reviewers have commented about this as well and I totally agree about the length. I also found the heel slightly too wide and it was difficult to get a good lock down. Overall, the design didn't work my feet. It's a great idea! Just needs to be reworked for a better fitting shoe.

I love them. They are very light weight. There’s zero slope is really comfortable. There is a lot of cushioning in the shoe which really absorbs shock. I normally wear an eight or 8 1/2 shoe. This would be for casual or dress. With running shoes I wear 8 1/2 or nine. These are nine and they fit perfectly. The navy and plum combination is very quiet Which I like as a fashion sense. Highly recommend it. And Zappos has a 30 day run and return policy. So you can buy them running them for weeks and then if you’re not completely satisfied you just send them back in whatever box you can find and you’ll get your money refunded. Excellent policy.

AMAZING! Like walking on clouds, with plenty of cushion complemented by good side support. These are my new favorite shoes! Thanks to Zappos for its generous free shipping on returns policy, I have finally found shoes that will work for me. #ILOVEZAPPOS!

This is my fourth or fifth pair of altra’s and I always order them a half size larger. I wear between a nine and 9 1/2 so I always order a 9 1/2 and they always fit very well. The new touring for plush is a pleasure. I work out indoors and it’s as if I’m walking on Tempur-pedic mattresses. The Autre fit to foot design is great if your feet are like everybody else’s and they don’t want to be scrunched up in the toe of the shoe. I can’t think of anything bad to say about the shoe.

Although the toebox is wide I use the sneakers to exercise so I always order a half size up and it’s a perfect fit. I have found Altria’s to be The most comfortable exercise sneaker going. I have tried Adidas ASICS new balance and hokas, but for me Altras blow them all away. I guess the key is the fabulous cushioning and the Foot shaped design. I never feel like my toes are being crammed into an unnatural space. I love the Torin plush so much that I ordered a second pair.

I started wearing Altra after a lot of other shoes brands seem to make shoes way to narrow. And these don’t make my knees hurt. Comfortable right out of the box.

These shoes felt great right out of the box. I got these shoes for work,as I am on my feet all day on a very hard surface. I also run agility with my dogs...and I decided to see how these felt....well they were great and now I am going to be getting a 2nd pair.

Had tried the Altra Torin a few years ago, but felt they did not have enough cushioning for me. The Torin 4 Plush fills the bill now! More cushioning under the toes, which is what I needed. So glad I tried them again!

I bought and wore the Torin 4 Plush for 3 months - probably walked an average of 25 - 30 miles/week, mostly on super-bad broken pavement. I thought the sole material seemed awfully squishy and not sturdy the first time I put them on, but it was so wonderful to have a shoe that was wide enough, that I didn't mind a little extra cushion. They were very comfortable for the first couple of months. I loved the toe box but had some trouble getting the fit right in the heel. It felt like my right heel was rolling inward and when I examined the sole after a couple of months, that seemed to be exactly what was happening. On the inside of the heel, the sole had worn down all the way to the dark line where the sole meets the fabric. I also found the laces WAY too long. I switched to the Lone Peak 4 about 2 weeks ago, and so far I'm really happy with them. They're not nearly as plushy, but my foot feels more stable and the arch support feels more substantial, too. If you walk on lousy pavement or rocky surfaces, the Torin Plush 4 might wear out sooner rather than later for you, too. For reference, I'm 5'6" & 140 lbs. I usually notice light wear on the inside of my soles near the heel, but I've never experienced this sort of complete breakdown before.

I called Altra customer service for advice of which shoe model to buy since I've recently been diagnosed with Morton's Neuroma. They suggested the Torin plush. These were too short. I wear a Brooks and Nike 11, bought an Altra 11 which they thought would fit. Will try to size up, but they will likely be too big since Altra does not make half sizes.

Heaven in a shoe for foot pain from morton's neuroma. I have been struggling to keep walking/hiking as my neuroma pain has increased. This shoe (even more than the other Altra that I bought) is a miracle. Highly recommend.

I probably tried probably pairs of training shoes before finally purchasing the Altra Torin 4 Plush. These shoes have the softest insole of any I have ever tried. They also seemed deeper than most shoes so that I could still add my orthotic under the insole and not have my foot slip out. I have worn them to 3 workouts now and I love them. They actually make the training seem easier because my feet are comfy and without pain.

Love these shoes even though at first I thought they looked a bit odd with the wide shoe box. However once I put them on; they were like magic. I am using them for walks averaging 4 - 6 miles and my feet feel great.
