I love the idea and engineering behind these shoes so I’m a fan. I bought my wife a pair but they seem big to her. It definitely is a different feel than your average shoe. She loves the insole being so plush, she really likes the look but her foot is small and narrow so the shoe feels to big. I think these are great shoes but they may not be for everyone.

sooo comfortable, loved all the cushioning but for some reason my ankles started to roll inward. Went back to my faithful altra "paradigm's" that give me better support. was sad to return these.

I've been wearing and running in Altras for a few years. I've noticed that the shoes are getting narrower and longer as time goes on. Usually a size 9 fits me well. The Torin 3.0 ran small; I took a 9.5. The Torin 4 Plush runs big - a size 9 is a bit too long, size 8,5 a bit too short. I recently purchased Lone Peaks; the same is true for them. The bummer is that with the shoe's toe sticking out beyond your natural foot line it's easy to catch it on things and trip/fall. I sorely miss the rounded toe box. Also, the shoelaces are like 2x longer than they need to be! You can wrap them around your ankles. I cut mine down to size.
That all said, I do love Altras and will stick with them. Unless another company starts making comparable zero-drop shoes with rounded toe boxes.

Altra has the ideal base shoe design for my wide jacked up feet. Unfortunately, there’s one element that makes them unbearable for me and that is that their construction leaves a spot that rubs the base of my 5th metatarsal leaving a painful callus on both feet. I started out with Provision and loved them with no issue, wore the Torin for a minute and started having the callus form, tried another Torin, Paradigm and Duo all with the same problem area. I have wide feet and minimal cushioning in my forefoot so the zerodrop allows for less stress on my foot and the wide toe box feels amazing, but the rub on the side of my mid foot has caused a couple of podiatrist visits. I tried the Torin Plush hoping and praying, but still the same problem spot. I also felt these were too cushioned if that’s a thing. I felt a bigger calf stretch with these than any other Altra.

This review is for the Altra Torin 4 Plush. I had to size up from an 11 and the 12 is too big. Altra makes the Torin 4 Plush in an 11.5 but they are currently out of stock and Zappos does not offer them. There was enough room in the forefront to have other toes join then party.

This shoe had one problem that was a deal breaker, the lacing system. Otherwise I would have loved this shoe and given it five stars. The problem with the lacing system is that the shoe has a panel on each side of the shoe inside. This is the opposite of a seamless shoe. This panel, or seam rubs on your foot. What a tragic design flaw. I can't imagine why any runner would want those panels on the inside of the shoe? Mind boggling.

The problem with Torin 4 plush for me is wearing with orthodics. The interior "eyelets" rub against my foot causing pain. The shoe is fine if you do not have to add orthodics. Unfortunately I bought 2 pair and cannot use them. I had previously used basic Torin shoe and they worked excellent for me. I did try them on instore with the orthodics but once used for more than a few minutes the problem appeared.

I've been wearing Altra Torins for years, but I sent these back. They're very narrow where the base of my toes meet the ball of my foot, causing the bones to press together and aggravate my Morton's neuroma. The older Torins with the wider, rounded toe box were great; they allowed my toes to truly spread out. I also didn't notice any difference in the cushioning on the Plush and that on my older, regular Torins. I found Torin 3 and 3.5s online and stocked up on enough to last me while I look for a new brand with sufficient width in the toe box. I'm giving two stars because the plum color is so nice; otherwise, I'd give one star for a shoe that isn't much different from any of the big brands.

I currently wear the Torin 4 (Not plush) and they fit well. The Torin 4 Plush fits so differently. There is no way to adjust laces on sneakers so my heal does not come out when I walk. I thought these would be perfect fit. Unfortunately, it's not just the Torin 4 with added cushioning.

This shoe was comfy with the lovely foot-shaped last/sole/footbed, but far too flexible for my needs. I knew if I tried to make them work, I would have non-stop foot pain. I went with Brooks Addiction 13 instead.

First off, For some reason this model runs larger than other models. I usually wear a 9 but must get a 9.5 in Altras and this model is way too long in the foot bed. Secondly, the foot bed/arch support is terrible uncomfortable/painful. I don't have flat feet or weird arches but this shoe really hurts the arches of my feet within minutes of wearing them! So painful! It's like the foot bed is ment for people who need a lot of arch support or have low arches in their feet. Feels like they made their shoe super supportive for people with arch issues. I just know I've never had this problem before with another pair of shoes. All my other Altras have/are super comfy but these are torture chambers! I mean pain even just standing in them. Wow! Disappointing.

I love Altra shoes but this pair wore out within a month. I only wear them to walk the dog and the heel completely ripped on both shoes. I contacted customer service but they did not reply. Super disappointed. This is my 15th pair of Altras and the only time I have been disappointed!

I had high hopes when I bought these shoes. I have wide feet with high arches and these were extremely comfortable from the moment I put them on. I typically do spin and yoga classes and strictly use these shoes for walking my dogs around the neighborhood. Anywhere from 1-2 miles with lots of sniffing stops. After 4 months of having these shoes, the soles had worn down DRASTICALLY. I was shocked. On 4/26 I reached out to the Altra customer service team via email on 4/26. I sent a follow up on 5/1 after not receiving a response. Finally got a response after the second email. After answering some questions and supplying photos and details, I was offered a replacement pair. They asked for style, style, and color. I didn't receive replacement shoes until early last week, and they were not any of the ones I chose. And I found that this pair was more narrow than the ones I have. Unfortunately the ones I have aren't showing as available on their website. Hoping for a refund as I've just had to order a new pair of shoes (different brand). In the month of back and forth with them, the shoes have continued to wear down quickly, and there's about 1/8 inch of sole left in some areas. I hadn't planned to leave a negative review in case this was a one off, but considering this has taken a month and is still unresolved, I'm hoping to save someone else the trouble. Shoe would probably be great for indoor use, but certainly not for consistent outdoor use.

So I looked forward to this shoe since the Torin4 was great. Ordered it in all three colors. Sadly shoe did not work for me.

Can’t really put sizing in a nutshell. They felt wide enough although ironically enough, not enough room in the DEPTH of the forefoot area thus the metatarsal felt like a vice grip. They look nice and I liked the idea of zero drop and extra plush but truly I felt like I was walking on bibles in the middle of my feet, which also caused my ankles to invert in. Yeah these are going back. I’ve been a true blue Brooks Ghost wearer for the last 4 years so I’ll be ordering them again. I wear them for my workout, my 40 plus hours work week in a busy surgical unit and for all leisure activities until flip flop season comes. Altra is are quality shoes just don’t work for me. If a running shoe isn’t the one from the get go, I don’t mess around! But thank you Zappos ! Your return procedure is painless! If there’s any question if I’d like a shoe I always order from you guys’! So I will be ordering my faithful Ghosts! Stick to the formula!!!

I wanted to love these but did not. The eyelets for racing are weird. They don't work for me for the unusual lacing patterns I use to accommodate my wide feet. The Achilles area is high and hard and chafed my ankle. They seemed more narrow than my other Torins and did not have as much give on the knit top. So much so that I had a lot of numbness in one foot and had to stop and take my shoe off repeatedly and loosen the laces. Also, a blister rubbed on the outside of one big toe in a spot I have never gotten a blister before in any shoe ever. I've worn them only 3 times, but I'm going to give them away to charity.
